Elira Ashwyn stands frozen outside the heavy wooden doors of the pack quarters, every inch of her four-foot-five frame trembling with a lethal mix of rage and heartbreak. Her dark, obsidian skin turns pale under the dim torchlight as the scent of slick arousal and betrayal hits her wolf’s sharp senses.
"I have given my heat to you, Torric. Why don't you reject Elira?" Lady Vespera Hollowmere breathes, her voice dripping with filthy, breathless lust as her naked body writhes over the male on the animal furs.
"Don't speak her name while my knot is inside you," Torric Blackthorn groans, his large male hands clamping around her hips, thrusting hard into her wet core until she screams his name. "She is just an orphaned stray taken in by the Ashwyns. Even a low-ranked omega holds more status in our territory than she does."
Elira kicks the heavy oak door wide open, her sharp brown eyes blazing with dark fire as she looks down at the tangled, bare bodies.
"Let me make this simple for you, Torric," Elira spits, her low voice laced with pure venom. "You are nothing but a rutting dog. She can have your tainted bond."
Torric shoves Vespera aside, scrambling off the bed to pull on his leather pants, his eyes wide with sudden panic. "Elira, wait—I didn't mean it, the heat took over—"
"Touch me and I will rip your throat out," Elira growls, stepping back as he reaches for her wrist. "I don't keep garbage that another female has already marked. We are done."
Vespera wraps a silk sheet around her damp, marked flesh, a triumphant smirk cutting across her face. "You hear that, Torric? The stray is dumping you! Tell her the truth now!"
Before Torric can speak, heavy footsteps echo down the stone hall. Lord Garrick Ashwyn and Lady Morwen Ashwyn burst into the room, their Alpha pressure heavy in the air.
"What is this disgraceful noise?" Garrick roars, his eyes flaring yellow as he sees Vespera naked on the bed. "Vespera, you are promised to the Frostclaw Bloodline! You are supposed to seal the alliance with Alaric Ravenshade’s bastard brother!"
Vespera presses her hand over her lower belly, her smirk widening. "I am carrying Torric's pup. My womb is claimed. I cannot be mated to a disgraced Frostclaw exile. Cancel the arrangement!"
Morwen’s cold gaze shifts from her daughter to Elira, her lips curving into a ruthless smile. "Garrick, calm down. Elira is an adopted bloodline daughter. The Frostclaws only asked for an Ashwyn female to fulfill the contract. She can take Vespera's place."
"You agreed to give Vespera to the Frostclaw Bloodline, not me!" Elira’s hands clench into fists, her claws threatening to breach her skin. "I am not your pawn!"
Morwen steps closer, leaning down to stare into Elira's eyes. "We took you in, stray. Your surrogate nurse, Elder Maelis, is dying of shadow-rot in the healer's den. Her core is failing. Rejection or no rejection, if you do not sign the mating registry with the Frostclaw male tomorrow morning, we cut off her healing crystals tonight."
Elira's heart thumps wildly against her ribs, her breath hitching as the trap snaps shut around her. Elder Maelis was the only female who had ever loved her, the only one who protected her in this hostile pack lodge.
"Give me the silver contract," Elira whispers, her voice dropping into a dangerous, dark whisper. "I'll take the Frostclaw bastard.
Kaedrin stepped back, his massive chest heaving as my words hit him like a physical blow. His grey eyes burned with a dark, dangerous fury, his claws digging so hard into his palms that dark blood welled over his knuckles. I had personally ordered Dacian Wolfhart to handle the high-court ethics violation, pulling strings behind the scenes from my hidden throne in the central spire just to clear my mate’s name. Yet here she stood, believing that weak, low-ranking Garrison male was her savior."The Garrison bloodline is a minor clan with zero authority in the Ravenshade Moon Dominion," Kaedrin sneered, his low growl sending a vibration through the narrow stone walls of the alley. "Director Garrison does not have the power to influence executive council decisions. What makes you think the high courts reinstated your estate management license because of a weakling like him?"I tilted my head, looking up at his towering frame, my four-foot-five plush body feeling small yet defiant against
"Open this door, Elira!" Torric Blackthorn shouts again, his fist pounding against the thin wooden planks until the frame shakes. "I know you are in there with that dirty rogue! The pack elders sent me to bring you back to the Ashwyn clan!"My heart slams against my ribs, my dark skin growing cold as my wolf cowers inside me. I am a four-foot-five, plus-size outcast female, and the memory of Torric's cruel words at the pack boundary still burns my soul. He rejected my bloodline, called me an unmateable waste, and tried to force me into servitude for his high-ranking court allies."Stay behind me, little female," Kaedrin rumbles, his broad six-foot-four body shifting in front of mine like an impenetrable wall of raw muscle and dark territorial energy. His grey eyes glow a lethal, demonic gold in the dim hearth light, his claws extending with a terrifying click. "If he steps one foot across my threshold, I will rip his throat out and feed his heart to the border beasts.""No, Kaedrin, w
Vespera’s claws twitched as she shrank back, her yellow wolf eyes darting toward the executive council in pure terror."You made a subjective conjecture based on academy gossip," Dacian Wolfhart growled, his voice vibrating with lethal Beta authority across the oval table. "Because of your petty jealousy, you slandered an elite estate manager and almost cost the Ravenshade Moon Dominion a vital asset. You are completely unfit for the council. Vespera Hollowmere, your title is stripped, and you are banished from the dominion."The room fell into an icy, suffocating silence. All the color drained from Vespera's face as she dropped to her knees. "I am so sorry, Lord Wolfhart!" she whimpered, her hands trembling against the polished stone floor. "I know I was wrong! I have served the high courts for years. Please, I beg you, do not cast me into the outer borders! My wolf cannot survive without the pack bond!"Desperation choked her voice, but Dacian did not even blink behind his silver-ri
Elira Ashwyn pushes into the small kitchen, her small plush body tensing as she sees Kaedrin Thornvale standing awkwardly amidst shards of shattered clay pots.He raises his sharp grey eyes to her, looking lost and helpless. "I was scrubbing the grease when they... slipped right out of my hands."Well, a rough border male like him had not touched kitchen items in years, so a mess was inevitable.Elira crouches down, her short fingers carefully gathering the shattered pieces from the floor. She isn't sure whether to laugh or cry. "I am guessing you did not rinse them first. Clay pots need warm water and gentle soap.""I see. I will remember that next time," Kaedrin growls softly, ripping off a piece of dry linen to hand to her. "Move out of the way, little female. I'll pick up the rest so you don't cut your skin."He doesn't want her getting hurt because of his clumsy hands. It doesn't take long for Kaedrin to finish clearing the broken clay. When he steps out of the alcove wiping his
Elira Ashwyn shifts her weight on the hard wooden stool, her dark skin flushing with heat as the interview panel murmurs."Why would you hand her an exam meant for high-ranking estate managers with a decade of territory experience?" the second female interviewer asks, glaring at Vespera Hollowmere. She snatches up Elira's file from the desk, scanning her achievements. "Elira Ashwyn has top marks from the academy. She managed four border keeps before her graduation. We need someone who actually understands high-court logistics, Vespera. Do you have a personal vendetta against her?"Vespera bites her red-painted lip, her yellow eyes flashing with hidden malice. "Why would I care about a low-ranking stray?" She shrugs, pretending to look bored. "There were plenty of rumors about her back at the academy. She is not as pure as she acts. She spent her first year trying to lure high-beta males away from their mated pairs. I know her scent better than you do. She has a trash reputation, and o
Elira Ashwyn stands rigid on the snow-covered threshold of the Ashwyn pack lodge as cold wind bites at her dark skin. Lady Morwen steps out into the courtyard, her silver robes sweeping over the frost as she forces a sweet, frantic smile onto her face."Kaedrin, you must have misunderstood things in there," Lady Morwen says, her voice trembling slightly under his heavy shadow-aura. "I only scolded the girl out of motherly discipline. It meant nothing at all.""I am not interested in your pathetic lies," Kaedrin Thornvale says flatly, his grey eyes locked on the trembling older female. "Save your tongue for someone who cares."Fenros Greymane steps forward instantly, picking up the four heavy iron chests of rare crystals and runic gems without a word. He locks each steel latch with a heavy click, turning his back on the lodge."Take every token back to the carriage, Fenros," Kaedrin commands, his voice rumbling like deep thunder through the courtyard. "The Ashwyn clan does not deserve
