Cyran POV- โI swear, if we donโt find her or something happens to her, you will regret the day you were born!โ Kellan stepped back at my threat, and I saw absolute fear in his eyes. When he came to the house and told me that Azura escaped, I nearly killed him on the spot. The only reason I hadnโt was because he said more than thirty minutes had passed before he realized that she was missing, and he searched the entire town for her. If she wasnโt in town, that meant she found a way to leave, which meant I was going to need his help to find her. Even if he fucked up, he was still the only Dragon I could truly trust to help me get her back safely. Even my Maid and Gardener, while trusted, werenโt as strong or as fast as Kellan. I could call my brother for help, but I didnโt want to alert too many that Azura was back. Until I knew what happened in that cave, I had to be cautious. It wasnโt like I didnโt trust my brother, but at the same time, he has been acting strange for the past ten
Dear Reader, Please forgive my absence for the past couple of days. I was taking a couple of days off, as I usually do, at the beginning of the month. I will be doing regular updates to this story, however. I hope to hear from my readers and let me know what you think. I know this is different from my werewolf stories, but I hope it is something you will all enjoy. Let me know if you want to see more stories like this. I plan to return to writing my werewolf romance soon. For my loyal readers, I will also be starting the third book in my trilogy series that some of you keep asking about. It should be at the end of this month or the beginning of next month. I also have another book that I am trying to finish, but this book will be my focus this month. Please be patient with me, as I do tend to get writer's block. My other book might slow down, but I will continue updating regularly if I can't daily. Sincerely, Author Raelyn Karson
Azura-I did it! I managed to escape Canada without getting caught. My plan was to visit New York first, but I decided to visit other places first. There were too many places in New York that I wanted to check out and decided it wouldnโt be a bad idea to rent a place for a month. The first place I went to was France. I thought about going to Spain, but there werenโt many places I wanted to visit. Just before leaving France, I felt as if someone was following me. I became a little skittish, thinking that Cyran or Kellan found me.When I reached Germany, I kept getting the same sensation that I was being followed. I prepared myself to be whisked away, but in the week, I spent there, nothing happened. During my visit to Italy, I started thinking it was just my imagination.I tried to keep each place I went to no longer than a week, but I stayed in the United Kingdom for two weeks and China for three weeks. I loved their culture and simple lifestyle. It was also where I planned to return
Azura-โI am not giving you an option any longer. Your vacation ends here.โ A hushed tone wedged itself between his words. His nose was now almost pressed against my nose, as he leveled his gaze to meet mine. He didnโt blink or look away. It was like he was trying to get me to submit to him by his eyes. Well, he could try all he wanted, because I refused to give in to him.Meeting his gaze, neither of us spoke. Silence became thick as the seconds dragged on. If neither of us said anything or something didnโt change, it was going to slowly suffocate me. As seconds turned to minutes, I realized that he was steadfast in his determination.I doubted he had any inclination to break before I did. I had thought I could hold out until he broke contact first, but I quickly realized that it wasnโt possible. While my heart was rapidly beating in my chest, mixing a bit of fear and excitement with my blood, his was calm and unrelenting. The only thing for me to do was accept the inevitable. Since
Cyran-โYou canโt seriously leave me in here!โThe instant we entered the house, I had thrown Azura over my shoulder and took her down to the basement. I wanted to teach her a lesson. Her reaction wasnโt what I expected, but I figured she was just being dramatic.โYou should have thought of that before you ran away. I will consider letting you out in the morning.โStepping away from the bed I sat her on, I moved toward the door and closed it. The room she was currently being detained in was the only room in the basement. I never got around to finishing it. The only thing in the room was a cot and a wool blanket.I figured that I might need to put her down here at some point. Now I was glad I never fixed it up. I didnโt want her to feel like it was okay to be put in the basement. While I didnโt understand it fully, I didnโt like putting her there any more than she wanted to be there.Locking the door, I listened to her pleas as she sobbed on the other side of the door. I didnโt know wh
Azura-I tried not to think about how Cyran kept looking at me. Keeping my head bowed, I ate slowly. I felt a little awkward being around him again. It was like there was something different, but I couldnโt put my finger on it.When I finished eating, I took my dishes to the sink to wash them. I started thinking about the maid and an idea occurred to me. If I took over the housework, I could keep myself busy instead of being idle.โWould it be possible for me to be the one to clean the house? I know you hire someone to do it, but it would give me something to do.โ I didnโt glance toward Cyran as I spoke. It took a while for him to answer, so I thought he wasnโt going to. A minute later he joined me at the sink and set his dishes on the counter. Instead of leaving, he turned around and leaned against the counter. I could feel his eyes on me, causing the hair on the back of my neck to tingle.โI will let her know that she can take a break I will have the Gardener start bringing the groc
Azura-It didnโt take two days like Cyran said it would. It took a week, which I was perfectly fine with. It allowed me time to mentally prepare myself.I didnโt have an issue with the treatment that was being suggested. I only had an issue with the one in charge of the treatment. I expressed my worries to Jade without telling her that it was just a bad feeling I had.It wouldnโt have done me any good anyway since they all seemed to trust Arric. Instead, I expressed that I didnโt feel comfortable being around Arric. Jade assured me that he was trustworthy.According to her, Arric and I had been close. In the way that a brother and sister were. Based on what Jade told me, Arric's care for me was enough to rival Cyran's.She told me that my death had affected him as much as it had affected Cyran's. It had nearly broken him to the point of no return. Other than Cyran, he searched for me endlessly, if not more than the others. As she told me of some things that happened between Arric and
Azura-I couldnโt believe it worked. Standing in front of Cyran, wearing clothing that seemed outdated, as if they were from thousands of years ago, I was having a hard time grasping it all. Stepping closer, I studied him. If it werenโt for the clothing and the hairstyle, I would think he was the same Cyran I knew today.Noticing he was looking past me as if he couldnโt see me at all, I turned around. I sucked in a sharp breath when I saw someone that looked exactly like me. She was wearing a long flowing cotton dress, with a brown sash tied around her waist. There was something about her that was different as if her essence was nothing like mine. An air of sadness hung around her, as tears welled in her eyes. Appearance-wise, there wasnโt a single thing about her that was different from me, other than her hair wasnโt cut like mine.I didnโt know what was wrong with her. For some reason, when I glanced behind me at Cyran, who was still standing perfectly still, I knew this was the fir
Azura-โAre you ready?โ I knocked on the bathroom door, where mine and Cyranโs sixteen-year-old daughter was getting ready.โAlmost!โ Angel yelled although it wasnโt necessary since I could hear her clearly.Tonight was the anniversary of Dragonโs becoming exposed. Everyone called it D-day. This meant that now that Angel had her Dragon, she could fly with her father for the first time instead of as a rider. I was a little envious of them now that they could fly around freely. Somedays I wished that I had become a Dragon and could fly with them. Then again, I was perfectly content with being a Rider. Ever since Dragons have been exposed, things have changed drastically. At first, things had been bad, and we never thought that humans would accept Supernatural creatures. Not all of the supernatural were ready to expose themselves, but that was up to them. Those who have, joined society. There were some that have become employed by humans. Some joined the police force, fire department, be
Cyran-โRelease the shield!โ I yelled. When the barrier was down, Arion flew into the sky, fleeing as quickly as he could. A moment after he left, the last of the rubble from the building fell, until everything was settled. A large block of cement was atop me, but I was able to throw it off of me with ease.Checking to make sure Azura was okay, I moved away from her when I saw she was fine. Checking the others, I saw that everyone was mostly okay, except for the now humans that were crushed below the rubble. Part of me felt guilty that they didnโt survive, now that they were human, while at the same time, I was relieved they would no longer be an issue.Helping a few to their feet, I returned to Azuraโs side and attempted to wipe away the dirt on her face. She placed her hand over mine and looked up at me with love shining brightly in her eyes. She was safe and that was the only thing I could think of right now.โYou need to go after him. Until he is dealt with, this isnโt going to be
Cyran-Leaving with Kellan, Azura, and Jade, we made our way to the headquarters of the council. The others lingered behind, so they could prepare. The goal was to catch everyone off guard, which meant we couldnโt try anything right away.Walking into the building with just Azura, Jade and Kellan stayed behind to greet the others. The guard at the entrance wouldnโt allow them to enter anyway. It would be better if Kellan went in as well, but I understood they were being cautious.Standing in the room with the council members and Arion, I had to force myself to refrain from showing my hand just yet. Azura was doing a better job at acting, as she stood behind me, using my body as a shield. I could sense she was nervous, which I was too. There wasnโt any guarantee that things were going to work out in our favor. Right now, all we could do was have a little faith that everyone would do their part. No one spoke a word for a long time until Arion stood up and moved around the long table.โI
Cyran-With the members that would be joining the council, we released the others to return to whatever they were doing. They all agreed to help in any way that they could, but right now we needed to establish the plan. Taking the meeting to Trentonโs house, which was larger, I felt as if a weight had been lifted from my shoulders. At first, when Trenton told everyone what was going on, I wasnโt sure if they would agree to help. They didnโt seem to trust me, and I didnโt blame them. What my father did was beyond anything I could have imagined, and I had witnessed a lot of it.As Trenton talked more about everything, I began to see hope gleaming in their eyes. It didnโt take as long as I had thought it would for everyone to be on board. Now that we had the members to create a thirteen-member council, including Charles, I knew we were on the right path. The only member on the council that wasnโt a Dragon, was Azura. I discussed it with her as we walked to Trentonโs house, which she had
Azura-โWith everything we have, is there a way to face Arion and the council, or do we need more?โ I glanced around the room, hoping someone had an idea.Between what I found out about my past and Cyran learning what he did, there had to be something we could do. The only one who seemed deep in thought was Cyran, while the others looked as if they didnโt know what to do. No one said anything for a while, but then I had an idea.โIn the past, I had spoken to Trenton about having him meet with Cyran to discuss a way for all of us to work together. Maybe we can still do that. Now that we know they were treated unjustly, perhaps Trenton and the others would be willing to work with us for a long-term solution?โ My eyes landed on Trenton as I spoke and hoped that he was still willing to change our future.โI was thinking the same thing. For me to put an end to the current council, I would need new members to appoint. If I could put together another council, we could clean up this mess. Of
Cyran-โThat is part of it, but I donโt know the rest of it. I canโt find anything in your memories about it, so I think it was something that happened before your time.โ Trenton answered without looking at me.Since there was nothing, I could do about it now, I turned back to watch. We still needed to figure out how to stop the council, but so far all I was seeing was that my father hadnโt been the King I thought he was. Nor had he been the father I had admired.โWhy donโt you stop this? As the council, arenโt you supposed to ensure that rules are followed? Isnโt this against the rules?โ Little Cyran asked the council member who stepped forward to observe the younger version of Trenton who was being beaten with a whip.โLittle boy, your father holds all the power. The council is here to enforce his rule and we all agree with him. It is because your father chose us as his council that we are able to do what we can to control things. Since you wonโt remember this, I have no problem tel
Cyran-โLetโs track down any potential Dragon Stone Keeper that was born around the time of Cyran. Cyran was born. Most Keepers are around the same age as their Guardians. Once all of them have been captured, we will expand our search to capture others.โ My father said while getting agreeable nods from the others.I wasnโt sure how to feel right now. There were too many feelings rushing through me. There was anger, confusion, disbelief, shock and so much more.โWhat will happen after we capture them, and you die? How can we ensure that they will be killed?โโLet me worry about that.โ My father had a smirk on his face like he already knew what he needed to do.I waited for them to talk more, but shortly after they began to leave, and Trenton sped time along. When we stopped, we were now standing in the backyard, where my father had us kids trained. I didnโt see him or Arion, but Arric and I were training with one of my fatherโs warriors.A few minutes passed and I wondered why we stopp
Cyran- โAre you ready for this?โ Trenton asked the moment he walked in the door. Looking over at Azura who was snuggled next to me on the couch, I could tell she didnโt want me to go. We already discussed it this morning. She was worried about something going wrong. Tightening my hold on her, I pressed my lips against her forehead. โIt will be okay.โ I assured her, although I didnโt believe it myself. She nodded her head after a few moments of hesitation. Giving her a smile, I pressed my lips against hers, before releasing her and standing up. Azura stood up beside me and threw her arms around me, faster than I had ever seen her move. โPlease be safe and no matter what happens, remember I am here waiting for you, and we will get through it.โ She spoke into my ear and clung to me. โI promise.โ I wrapped my arms around her and almost had to pry her from me, although I wished I didnโt have to leave her. The words she spoke were similar to the words I had whispered to her after she
Azura-My head felt as if it were pounding. Every molecule in my body felt heavy as if I had been drinking heavily the night before. Pressing my hands to my head, I heard myself groan. I didnโt open my eyes, but when I felt a soft touch against my forehead, I sighed contently.โHow are you feeling?โ The sound of Cyranโs voice jarred me and I quickly opened my eyes and sat up.โFine.โ I blurted, although I was far from fine.He moved toward me, with one arm sliding across the back of the couch. Scooting away, I pulled my feet onto the couch, while wrapping my arms around my legs. I still remembered what happened, so I believed that Cyran was better off not having me around. Not that I was going to kill myself or anything, but I needed to think of a way to keep myself safe while staying as far away from him as possible. Kellan scoffed and I immediately knew he was invading my thoughts. Glaring at him he held up his hands in defense.โWe made a promise, yes, but I had to at least make su
