Chapter 4 - Roots to the Past

Jordan's pov:

-"This time Elektra dug her own grave. She made a serious mistake, a mistake that's gonna cost her more than the position of the Alpha of the Black Shadow Pack. This will be the end of her! It was time! I am sick of her arrogant behavior!" I said triumphantly.

-"Father I am not so sure about it. Elektra is our Alpha's daughter. She has him wrapped around her little finger" my son contradicted. He is always so pathetic. At least it has the pure blood of the Black Shadow Pack not like Elektra. He deserves to be the Alpha of this pack and not this common that Bartholomew wants to impose on us!

-"Don't say nonsense David! Bartholomew is never tied to anyone. He only cares about his ass. You do not see that this is your only chance to become the Alpha of this pack, you idiot? We just have to handle it smartly if we want to make it happen."

-"I...I really don't know father! I don't believe that he would do anything to hurt his own daughter....He loves her so much!"

-"His own daughter...... Don't make me laugh! He has so many children that are pure Black Shadow but this idiot prefers this miasma! The child this pleb has given birth to! This half breed will never be our Alpha as long as I am alive! Only over my dead body will she succeed!"

-"Father what you are saying? What do you mean by calling Electra half breed? Wasn't her mother the Luna of our pack? At least that's what you've said to us when we were little"

-"Don't pay any attention to what I am saying......."

-"But.....but you just called our Luna pleb"

-"Shut it you idiot! I really said nothing! The only thing you need to know is that you must be prepared! Do you understand?"

-"What do you mean by being prepared?"

-"Oh my Goddess why did you give me such a stupid child? Why? Don't say more! I will take care of it. Just stand in a corner and watch me! I'll tell you what you have to do when time comes. I told him frustrated. If I will succeed to make him the Alpha, I will rule instead of him. And everyone will obey my orders. Even Bartholomew....

Elektra's pov:

I was in the Alpha's office taking care of every day pack issues when Roxanne got in very upset. It was the first time she behaved like that! She is usually a reserved person who never lets her feelings show.

-"My child what have you done?" she asked me in agony. It was evident that she was extremely worried and that she couldn't control her behavior.

I stopped what I was doing, raised my head and looked at her in wonder.

-"What are you talking about?" I asked her confused.

-"Is it true that you gave to the prisoner a guest room at the pack house?"

-"Yes" I said coolly.

-"And that you intend to let him free?" she asked again.

-"Yes also true" I replied casually.

-"Have you completely lost your mind my child?" Roxanne raised her voice to me. She hadn't done that for years. The last time she did it, I was twelve years old. I had gone to the woods all alone without permission and the whole pack was searching for me. My father was about to kill her when they found me. Thank Goddess for that!

I didn't have a problem with her behavior, cause Roxanne is like a mother to me. She raised me and she has the right to speak to me in any way she likes. But this time her behavior surprised me. She is always so well behaved and restrained that seeing her in that condition made me wonder.

-"What's the problem Roxanne?" I asked her trying to seem ignorant although I suspected the reason why she came to my office. It must be related to the way I behaved to the trespasser.

-"Elektra you know that your father won't approve what you did. He will punish you when he finds out. You know the rules that this pack has about trespassers."

-"I don't care. It's time to change some things in this pack. Do you know that we are the only pack that behaves so hostile? And without any excuse at all. We are all just a bunch of brutal. The Council has sent several complaints about the way we treat rogues and trespassers over the years"

-"Complaints that your father ignored all this time without facing any consequence" Roxanne contradicted.

-"We won't always be so lucky! Some things have to change cause they are obsolete and inhuman! " I explained to her.

-"Do you not understand that you just gave Jordan the perfect opportunity to steal your Alpha position?"

-"We will see about that! Do you think me as a fool?" I replied.

-"And how will you justify yourself to your father when the time comes?"

-"I'll think of something!"

-"My girl don't you realize that your father is going to be furious? You must revoke your order immediately"

-"No, I won't do such a thing" I said, stood up and approached Roxanne and continued "I know that you are worried about me, but I can take good care of myself"

-"You are as stubborn as your mother! Nothing good will come of it. A direct conflict with your father will not end well for you. Believe me I have seen it before! The past always returns! Oh my Goddess please protect us!" she begged.

-"What do you mean by that?"

- "This is not the time nor the place for that! Please...... do as I told you! Revoke your decision!" Roxanne insisted extremely worried.

-"Don't worry my nanny! Nothing is going to happened to me! I promise!" I reassured her and gave her a tight hug which she reciprocated affectionately.

-"I really hope you know what you are doing!" she said and headed to the door.

-"Roxanne, before you leave there is something I want to ask you"

-"Yes my child. What is it?" she said always willing to serve me.

-"Do you know anything about the Silver Dawn pack?"

She slowly turned back with an expression of terror on her face and staring eyes that showed...... fear? Why does hearing that name scare her?

-"Thhhhe.....SSilver Dawn Pppack...... you said?" she asked mumbling.

-"Yes, why do you react in that way?" I wondered.

She took a deep breath and looked at me straight in the eyes.

-"Whhho........told you about this pack my child?" she asked concerned.

-"It doesn't matter who told me. I just want to know. I searched for this pack on the internet but nothing came up".

-"If your father finds out I am answering such questions he will punish me severe!"

-"Please I need to know! I won't tell my father you know it! I have never told him any of what you confided me!"

She took a deep breath again. It was obvious that she was thinking about it. After some minutes of silence she said:

-"The only thing I can tell you is that Silver Dawn Pack was your mother's and mine old pack."

-"What? Really? That's wonderful!" I exclaimed surprised.

-"No, it isn't. Especially if your father finds out I've told you about it! Do you understand that talking about Silver Pack is forbidden in this pack?" Roxanne asked me in a strict way. Her face was firm and she looked determined!

-"But...but why?" I insisted.

-"I can't tell you by the moment"

-"You have my word I won't tell anything about it to my father or anyone else! I promise! Please tell me" I reassured her and continued "I want to learn more about my mother's old pack".

-"You will, I assure you! It's just not the right time yet! When the time comes you will learn everything about your mother, her old pack and its history!" she said in a serious way.

-"Let it be. I am not gonna push you more about it!"

-"Now if you don't need me anything else, I must go! I have plenty things to do!" Roxanne said and left the office hurriedly.

Roxanne didn't tell me much about the Silver Dawn Pack but the information she gave me is very important to me. It explains the reason why I felt this connection with Alexander. I'm not usually so lenient with rogues or strangers! Maybe my blood and my origins did not allow me to attack this man. After all he is the Alpha of my mother's previous pack! But why did he have such influence on me? I can understand that a part of me connects with his pack, but that does not explain the fact that I followed his every command like a schoolgirl. Nor does it explain why my father never mentions anything about my mother and her old pack! Did anything happen between these two packs when my parents met? Why is all the information about this pack being deleted and it is forbidden to talk about it here? What is being hidden?

I hope I'll see Alexander again. This time I am gonna ask him more about his pack.
