MasukAIDEN’S POV.
The next day felt heavier than it should have. I sat across from Peter in the cafeteria, a tray of food in front of me that I had no intention of finishing. Eggs, toast, something green I didn’t recognise. I poked at it with my fork like it had personally offended me. I hadn’t slept much. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw it again—Daniel kissing that other guy like they were a real couple. The guilt sat in my chest. Peter was laughing loudly and that somehow made it worse. Riss was talking animatedly, his hands flying as he explained the latest anime series they were all obsessed with. Ava sat beside her, nodding along, occasionally interrupting to argue about a character arc. Peter leaned forward, clearly invested in the conversation. “And the animation in the last episode?” Riss said. “Insane. Like, actually insane.” “I know,” Ava agreed. “I cried. Don’t judge me.” Peter laughed. “I would never judge you for crying over it. I cried over it too.” I stabbed my eggs too hard. The fork scraped the plate. But no one noticed. I wanted to tell him. I wanted to just open my mouth and say it. “Your boyfriend cheated on you.” Simple. Clean. Honest. But how do you drop something like that without blowing everything up? My appetite was gone. I chewed anyway, forcing myself, even though every bite felt like swallowing guilt. Then Daniel showed up just in time to make it worse. He walked right up to the table like he belonged there. “Hey,” he said easily. Before I could look away, he leaned down and kissed Peter. Right there. In front of me. My grip around the fork tightened. I wanted to kill him with the fork in my hand. Daniel sat down beside me like nothing had happened, like he hadn’t kissed someone else less than twenty-four hours ago. I turned my head and glared at him. He didn’t notice. Or worse—he did and didn’t care. The conversation shifted to another thing. They started talking about their stressful week. Riss complained about a surprise quiz. Ava complained about a paper she hadn’t started. Peter complained about a group project where he was clearly doing all the work. They all had something to say — except me. I was too busy looking for the perfect way to kill Daniel without leaving a clue. “How about we go to that underground club?” Daniel suggested. “I heard it's fun.” Ava’s face lit up immediately. “Yes. Please. I need that.” Riss rolled his eyes. “You always say that.” “And I always mean it,” Ava said happily. “After a stressful week, I just want to be ruined by hot guys.” She leaned back in her chair, completely unapologetic. “The biggest and hottest dorm guys in Princeton,” she added, grinning. Riss snorted. “You’re shameless.” Ava laughed. “Shameless with style.” Peter chuckled. “Oh God.” “I have money,” Ava continued, counting on her fingers. “Brains. Influence. And most importantly, I always get the best sex.” “Do you have a way in?” Peter asked. “Only those invited can get in.” “I have a guy,” Daniel shrugged. “He knows the guys handling the party and he promised to leave a few words or so for us.” I tuned them out. My focus went back to Daniel. He was talking, smiling, nodding along, completely relaxed. I watched his hands, his mouth… Every normal thing he did felt fake. I kept thinking about Peter’s smile when Daniel kissed him. Daniel turned his head toward me. “So,” he said, casual, “how’s Ryder?” My fork paused mid-air. I frowned. “Why?” He raised a brow. “What do you mean?” “What do you want with Ryder?” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended. Daniel smiled. It didn’t reach his eyes. “Relax. We met some time ago. Just wanted to catch up.” I scoffed quietly. “Right.” Peter looked between us. “You okay, Aiden? It must be hell living with Ryder.” Ava tilted her head. “Or a blessing.” Peter laughed. “I doubt that.” Riss leaned closer to me. “You’ve been kind of moody,” he said. “Are you sure you’re okay?” “I’m fine,” I said quickly. Daniel nodded like he believed me. “Maybe we should all get together tonight,” he suggested. “Watch some movies.” Riss’s eyes lit up. “Yes.” Peter nodded immediately. “I’m in.” Ava clapped once. “I’m down.” Then she hesitated. “Can I bring my roommate?” Riss smirked. “The one going through another ‘rough breakup’?” “Yes,” Ava said seriously. “I can’t just leave her alone. That's what I always say about boys. “They’re playthings,” she frowned. “Girls need to play the game too. Use them, then block them.” Riss leaned over and smacked the back of Ava’s head. “Ow!” Ava laughed. “Violence!” Daniel laughed with them. I clenched my jaw. He looked at me again. “You could invite Ryder too.” “No,” I said flatly. He blinked. “Just asking.” “Don’t,” I replied. Silence fell for half a second. Peter cleared his throat. “Are you coming, Aiden?” “I can’t,” I said. “I need to study.” Daniel didn’t react. He just nodded and went quiet. Peter frowned. “Come on. It’ll be fun. And I miss your criticism. You complain through every movie.” Riss frowned. “Kinda gets on my nerves though. It's a movie. It's supposed to be frictional.” I followed Daniel's eyes. And my fists clenched in rage. Daniel’s eyes were already on another guy. The same guy he kissed yesterday. “I’ll come,” I said immediately. Everyone froze like I had just spoken an alien language. “You'll what?” Ava raised a brow. I swallowed hard. “I'll come.” “Wow, I didn't expect that,” Riss added. I forced a smile and continued shoving my food down my throat. I might never end up with Peter. But I wasn’t going to sit there and let someone break his heart while I watched. Peter was my only life. And I won't sit down and watch someone destroy it.AIDEN'S POV. I couldn't contain my excitement. This fake relationship was an opportunity for me to completely destroy the chance of Peter ever getting back with Daniel. And it was also an opportunity to finally confess my feelings to him. “Feeling good about today,” Ryder teased. “You and your lover are going to spend some quality time together.” He paused as if remembering something serious. “Oh, I almost forgot, gay people are broken so you might try to fix him.”I walked over to him, my fists clenched so tightly that I could have sworn I heard my bones crack. “What's your problem?” I growled. God forbid I make one angry statement. But I really shouldn't have said that. Right? He closed the gap between us, staring deep into my soul. I wanted to move back but my legs were frozen to the ground. “You know exactly what my problem is,” he replied coldly. Peter walked out of the bathroom, but froze, seeing us standing so close together. “If Aiden was gay, I'd have sworn there is so
AUTHOR’S POV. Aiden’s living room was messy but warm.Empty soda cans were on the table. A big box of pizza sat open in the middle. The smell of cheese filled the air. The TV was on but no one was watching it.They were all sitting on the floor. Peter sat between Riss and Ava. Ava was almost glued to him. She had one arm around his shoulder like she was protecting him from the world.“You don’t deserve that idiot,” Ava muttered, biting into her pizza. “Daniel is trash.”Peter sighed. “Can you not?”“No, I cannot,” Ava snapped. “He cheated on you. I am allowed to curse him.”Peter rubbed his face. “Ava, please. I’m already tired.”Riss leaned back against the couch. “She’s been cursing him for the past hour. I’m surprised Daniel hasn’t felt it spiritually.”Ava glared at him. “This isn’t funny.”“I didn’t say it was funny,” Riss replied calmly. “I’m just saying Peter said he’s fine.”Peter nodded. “I am. I’m happy I’m here. With my friends. And my favourite cousin.” He bumped Ava ligh
RYDER’S POV. My phone started ringing the moment I stepped out of class.I checked the screen. It was my Mom.I sighed softly and answered. “Hello, Mom.”“Ryder!” she said happily. “How are you? How was your class?”“It was fine,” I said, walking down the hallway. “Boring as always. The professor talks too much.”She sighed. “Tell me about it.”I forced a smile, causally waving at a classmate. “Bye,” I whispered. “Good. Are you eating well?” she asked.“It’s only been a month,” I said. “I’m not dying.”“You sound thinner,” she said.“You can’t hear thinness through a phone.”“A mother can,” she replied.I smiled a little.“How is college?” she asked again.“It’s fine.”“And Aiden Miller?” she said, her voice filled with disdain. I rolled my eyes even though she couldn’t see me. “I’m going to survive him too.”“He's just like his father, isn't he? A dull asshole with a butt shaped head and a tiny prick,” she insulted. “Woah! Chill out, mum.”“I just hate the Millers.”Same here. T
AIDEN’S POV. “What are you doing here?” I asked, still holding the blanket tight to my chest.Ryder brows furrowed. “What do you mean?” he asked. “This is my room. And that is my bed.”I blinked. My brain felt slow, like it was still asleep.“Your bed?” I repeated.Oh, I was a dumb fuck. I slowly got up from the floor and wiped my forehead with my hand.“Don’t ever do that again,” I said.“Do what?” Ryder asked, still smiling.“Kiss my forehead.”He laughed louder this time. “Oh relax,” he said. “You looked cute. I couldn’t help it. You almost remind me of the time you slept on my bed at the club.”I glared at him. “Shut your cunt up,” I said through gritted teeth, my fists clenched. “The next time you do that, I swear I'll kill you.”“Okay, okay,” he said, raising his hands. “You’re so dramatic in the morning.”Right then, the door opened and Peter walked in.He looked fresh, like he had just washed his face. His hair was still a little messy.“Good morning,” he said softly.“Morni
AIDEN’S POV.I felt something soften inside me the moment Peter said that. I could proudly use the phrase “butterflies exploded in my belly”Those might sound so little to others, but to me? It felt like the whole. “Come in,” I said quietly, stepping aside. “It’s fine.”He walked in slowly, like he was scared I might change my mind. I closed the door behind him and turned to face him.“I'm sorry for disturbing whatever it was…”I cut him off. “It's fine. We were not doing anything important.”“You should have at least knocked,” Ryder frowned, folding his hands on his chest like a worked up cock. I slowly turned to him with a glare. “What does that mean?”“It means he should have knocked before coming in,” Ryder repeated, locking eyes with me. I wanted to give him a befitting response, but Peter stopped me. “You're right,” he nodded in agreement. “It's just old habits, I guess.”Ryder forced a quick smile and then looked away. My fists clenched so tightly. I wanted to walk over to
AIDEN’S POV.I sat there, frozen, while Ryder pulled back from Peter and laughed like nothing had happened. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, smiling wide, like he’d just won something. The room was quiet for a second — too quiet. Then his phone beeped. Ryder looked down at it, his smile fading just a little. He checked the screen, typed something fast, then stood up.“Duty calls,” he said lightly. “I’ve got something important to handle.”Ava groaned. “You’re leaving already?”“Yeah,” he replied. “Rain check.”He grabbed his jacket, turned to me with a proud smile, before walking out. Oh, the urge to punch that smug face in front of everyone. He knew Peter was taken, yet he kissed him. He knew I liked Peter a lot — that didn't stop him either. I sat still, my hands clenched on my knees, my heart still beating too fast as I watched Peter instead. He was smiling. That made my stomach twist. How could he smile when Ryder kissed him? Does he know who Ryder is? I don't, but
