Chapter 8

Vera.

It's the morning of the next day. I sat close to the window in my room, staring out of it. Madam Deborah had told me what happened and how Ray rescued me. She also added that if he came around anytime, I should thank him. I sighed hearing that... I mean, I do owe him one, don't I? I wonder how things would have gone downhill if he hadn't come to help.

Someone knocks at my door, opening it, and peeks in. I turn around and see it's Madam Deborah. She has a smile on her face and I manage one.

" Good morning." I greeted, my voice throaty.

" Good morning to you, too. Are you ready? The shop is open." She informed, coming in a little. I nod a bit, tucking my hair behind my ears.

" Okay. I'll be down in a minute." I reply. She nods and leaves the room. I stood up from the chair and tying my hair back in a ponytail, wear my necklace and walk out of the room. Another workday waiting for me.
