MR. ETHAN WANTS YOU

KAYLEE'S POV

I really do not understand dad's mood this evening. He seem so quiet and uninvolved. It looks as though he has so much on his mind. I have never seen him in such mood before. He has been smoking up some cigarettes too. Yeah, sure, he smokes but this night, it seemed alarming. He did not even notice my presence! 

Is there anything wrong with him? I

I walked up to him and sat by his side. Well, I am the last born so, I am so much free with my parents. Infact, I am nicknamed, 'Pet!' and definitely, looking at his mood, he is not fine. 

“Hey handsome, what is your problem? You look depressed, hope you are okay?” I asked as I tapped his shoulders. He suddenly looked at my direction with his eyes all popped and red. He looked scary tho! 

“Mr. Ethan wants you!” I heard dad uttered before he looked away. 

Huh! What? And who is Mr. Ethan? Did I hear him clear? 

“I do not understand dad. What do you mean by Mr. Ethan wants me? Wants me how? Explain a little bit more because, I am not getting the message and who the hell is Mr. Ethan to begin with?” I asked as I turned his face to myself, “Dad, what is really going on?” I asked and he dropped down his cigarette and looked into my eyes. I felt like he was sending an unsaid message to me but I do not understand either. 

He took my hands and smiled, a forced smile I bet, “Mr. Ethan wants you for himself. You will become his, for a long time, darling!” Dad said. I moved my hands out from his and stood up from where I sat.

He must be drunk! 

“I do not believe you and who is Mr. Ethan? Dad, are you okay?” He rolled his eyes and picked another stick of cigarette. 

He took his lighter and turned it on, “You do not know the famous young man, Mr. Ethan?” And that hit right. Do he mean the one I am actually thinking of? The young billionaire? But why would Mr. Ethan want me? I do not get it! 

Sigh! 

“You said he wants me? What for? Like, why do he want me? I have never known him expect on social media and internet, where they hype him of his wealth. So how can you tell me now, that he wants me. Does he even know I exist?”

“I do not have an answer to that but you would have to stay with him for a long time because, I owe him a huge amount of money.” Dad answer drily as he exhaled smoke from his mouth. As an expert, he could form up shapes with the smoke but this time, it all escaped his mouth like a gaint rock of no definite shape. 

“And you are going to accept to that? Like seriously, dad?” I felt like I have been betrayed by my own father. 

I rushed out and on my way I bombed into mum and hugged her tight, crying on her shoulder. 

She hugged me back and rubbed my back gently, “Honey, what is the problem? Why are you crying?” Mum asked and I turned to look at her. 

“Go and ask dad!” I forced myself to say and left her to my room. I would not express the pain I felt and wanted her to hear them from her husband's mouth, not mine. 

I sensed mum was still looking at me from behind. 

I entered my room and banged the door, shut! I hate everyone, I only love my elder sister. I laid on my bed and took my phone, then dialed my password and clicked on her number. 

Bim... bim... bim... 

She picked and I heard a loud noise at the background. 

“Where are you at? It is quite noisy!” I yelled as soon as the deafening noise strikes my ears. It was painful! 

“I know! Can I call you back later? There is a protest going on and it is going to be so difficult for us to have a good conversation. I hope it is not urgent?” Audrey asked and I felt disappointed. I needed someone to talk with. She was yelling at the background too. 

“No, it is not urgent! We can talk about it next time you call.” I yelled again, so she could hear me. I had to lie so she won't get all worried. 

“Okay, I will call you once I am home; I promise!” Audrey said and hanged up! 

I wished she was at the right place. What do I do now? How do I get my mind off what dad just said?

Arrrgh! 

I hate today! Like, how would dad accept such nonsense. This is just bad and unthinkable!
