CLAIR It was almost two hours now and Jake was nowhere to be seen. I’d been itching to ask the Beta if he had heard anything from him, but I kept my mouth shut. I didn’t want to sound too eager. CLAIR I forced my eyes open as soon as I heard my alarm ringing and stared at the ceiling for a while before reaching out to my side table to shut it down. CLAIR I woke up with a pounding headache and the sun’s rays on my face. It must be late in the morning if the sun was up already.
