It’s Christmas time, which means it’s the most wonderful time of the year. At least for most people. For me, Christmas is just like any ordinary day. But this year might just be a little different. My mother and father just left for the airport yesterday and I’m spending some time with the Green’s while they are gone. I went Christmas shopping and got Daniel a signed football from his favorite team and a watch. I got Kylie an eyeshadow palette, some makeup brushes and a couple bath bombs. I got Tara a cute knitted blanket and made her some chocolate covered strawberries and pineapples. For Jim I got him a baseball hat and a t-shirt. Work went by surprisingly fast this morning. I got back to the Greens before it was even 12. Daniel was still passed out in his bed. His hair still styled perfectly. I woke up to complete silence. I quietly make my way down to the kitchen to grab some water. Once I get a glass of water I sit at the table. I was planning on going home but even though I’m doubting it, I should talk to Daniel. He deserves to explain himself. Daniel helped me clean almost the whole house and finish all the chores in half the time. "Thank you Daniel" I say hugging him, grateful that he actually helped and didn't just sit and watch me. "Of course Kisses" He says as a knock sounds on my door. I open it to see the last person I would expect to see. It’s been around an hour and Daniel is still here. “Grace, you’re staying here right?” I ask and she shakes her head. “No, my friend is visiting her high school friend who lives around an hour away from here so we booked a hotel for two nights and then we are going home. Just a quick little visit” She says smiling. “But, tomorrow Cassie and I are going to drive into LA and then leave early the next morning. So today is my first and last day with you. But you need to text me and we can face time all the time” She says and I nod, agreeing. “Guys we want to play-oh, I think we are interrupting a moment Brooks” Kylie says barging in causing me to laugh. “No, I was just thanking Daniel for getting me this extremely soft blanket since I’m always cold” I say and Kylie jumps on the blanket, melting into it. “Oh my. This thing is so soft. You lucky bitch” Kylie says jealous. “Sorry Kyl” Daniel says. “Dude, we need to take a picture together” Brooks says to Daniel. Daniel changed into a blue shirt and some jeans. Brooks is still wearing a gray t-shirt and a gray zip-up over it. He has some white sweatpants on too. They both look good. Kylie is wearing her silk robe and some of her clothes underneath. Her makeup and hair still perfect. Me on the other hand … Daniel and Brooks have Kylie take a picture of them and it came out really good. “Hey man, I’m gonna buzz soon. ~Daniel’s P.O.V~ The drive took so long. “Hi, we are here to see Kisses Jackson” I say running to the front desk. “I’m sorry. She is not allowed to have visitors” The lady says. ‘Excuse me mam, I’m sorry but I am her guardian” My mom says and she nods. “Room 112 on floor 4” She gives a sympathetic smile and we rush to the elevator. “It’s taking to long” I say running to the stairs and sprinting faster than I knew possible. I run to room 112 and brace myself for what was inside. I open the door to see Kisses laying in a hospital bed connected to tubes, machines and iv’s. “Daniel” My mom says touching my back. No matter how much I could have prepared myself, I would never have been ready. That was my breaking point. I couldn’t stand the sight of here there. “Kisses, you should probably eat” Daniel says, looking at my untouched food. It’s been sitting there for about an hour now. “I’m not hungry Dan” I say shaking my head. That was a mistake. A sharp pain runs from behind my eyes to the back of my head, causing me to place my pounding head in my hands. Hoping to ease the pain. “Kisses? Are you okay? Should I get a doctor?” Daniel says, worry filling his voice. “No, no, I’m fine. My head is just pounding?” I say slowly lifting it up, my eyes still closed. Daniel grabs my hand, tighter than before. My phone beeps and I open my eyes. “Daniel, can you read that for me?” I ask and he nods, picking up my phone. “It’s Grace. She wants to know if you can face time” Daniel says and I nod. “Yeah, call her and you can talk to her. I have to use the restroom” I say, trying to sit up.
