Chapter 26

Emily and Mason left my apartment, the latter scratching his head since Emily was mad... really mad. It was an awkward departure, but I knew it was something they needed to work through themselves. But finally, being alone with Ryker again, the atmosphere was tense, to say the least.

“So, Jake’s the tech genius, and Mason handles fieldwork, like the agent stuff?” I inquired, trying to break the ice and ease my nervousness, the dim light casting a soft glow on us as we prepared for bed.

His chuckle was a soothing sound. “Yeah, something like that,” he replied, reclining on the bed, emitting a satisfied yawn. “Are you planning to stand there forever?”

I quickly jumped onto the bed, blushing pink. I was nervous. My stomach was a mess of jittery nerves. This was the first night we were actually going to sleep together and talk, as opposed to our previous nights, which were far more intimate and heated...when he woke me up with his...tongue.

“You should put on a shirt,” or I might lick you
