Charity Event

   For days, Christian didn't talk with Lily, he would often come home late and drunk, causing her and blaming her. Most times, she would drive at night to pick him up from one bar or another.

 Most times,  he would forcefully sleep with her, beat her or insult her and the next morning he would leave like nothing happened. He was getting more cruel, he didn't care who was there, be it his father or mother, he would treat her like nothing and would send abusive words to her. 

 Feeling threatened that if she says anything, her family would go bankrupt again, she would keep quiet, silently taking it in.  When he leaves, Felix the driver would come and help her out. 

But today was different, it wasn't the usually abusive words or action she received rather a warm smile. With a gift from him, he came early, with a rose in his hands and a warm smile, his secretary holding out a box, with a red ribbon bow tie on top. 

Confused, she took the rose from him and the box from the secretary, smiling back at him.  "That's better" he said, as his smile changed to a frown." I thought you were planning on disgracing me" he continued at her, getting her confused the more. 

Seeing her confused face he couldn't help but chuckled.  "What?, You thought that I'm being nice, '' he questioned. " Tonight is a big charity event, a lot of businessmen would be there with their partner obviously, and like I always say, in the eyes of the public, you are my wife but in this house, you are nothing but a slave" he finished off. 

He stood up and was about leaving when he stopped and turned around. " The box contained the dress and shoes you would be wearing, with some make-up to hide those dark marks under yours eyes. And remember, just because you would be seeing your father doesn't mean you would tell him everything I do to you, or else your family business goes down" he warned, walking up the stairs.

Somehow the thought of seeing her family made her smile, it's been months since they got married. She quickly left what she was doing, to have her bath and prepare.

Charity's events are no joke to businessmen, just like grammies to celebrities, charity events are held as a  medium in which businessmen, Ceo, and other wealthy mafias showcase their wealth.

It shows that you are not here for the money even when most of them are. She was never interested in those things, and it became clear to her family that Lily wasn't a business person, she finds the seminar quite boring, unlike her brother who only reads business books, would cry to go to seminar, Lily was the exact opposite. So at a young age, their parents were able to decide who will get the company.

After a long period of time, she was finally through with her make up, hiding the scars really well, it also matches her dress really well. 

She gracefully walked down the stairs, being careful not to fall in the unnecessary high heels Christian got for her, for the first time in her life, she was excited to go to a charity event.

Meanwhile, Christian was all dressed up in his black and white tuxedo, waiting down stairs, patiently waiting for Lily, he had purposely picked red colour for Lily as he thought it wouldn't make her look attractive. 

  When he used to date Clara, she would dislike red gown as it didn't flow with her skin tone, his Monica would always shine in silver or white dress. The thought of ruining her at the charity event by making her look unattractive made him smile, he couldn't wait to see her.

So when he heard footsteps, he raised his head to see Lily, looking stunning in it, his jaw dropped as he watched her come down. Yes, he knew she was pretty when he married her but didn't know she was this beautiful, he had never seen her fully dressed before. 

He quickly cleared his throat and looked away, before turning back at her glare at high. " We won't get there on time, if you keep using the stairs as a fashion walking ground " he snapped at her, missing some of his words, realizing that what he said made little sense, he left entering the limousine with Lily following him. 

" You better be on your best behavior, or else you get it " he warned as the car drove off.
