Chapter 11- The past

Jake carried her bag that held her workout clothes to the car, tossing them into the back he opened the door for her. She was even quieter than usual, he had thought she’d be pleased that her father had agreed to break off the engagement. “Is anything wrong?”

“Everything is fine,” she said, her lips pressed tightly together.

Since she wasn’t in the mood to talk he sat back and focused on the road. After pulling into the club’s parking lot he got out, grabbed her bag and then opened her door. He waited for her to unfold her cane then he followed her inside. Taking her bag from him said she was going to the dressing room to change so he went and sat down. As a rule, he usually waited outside but today he decided to stay and watch.

He sat back and looked around, each person had a disability of one kind or another. Each person had their own trainer and then he saw Anastasia enter and go over to her trainer. Just then a man came over to him.

“You must be Miss Bruce's new bodyguard,” he sai
