REFLECTING PAINS AND ANGER

Marianne smiled through her tears. The plain white lie lightened the woman’s heart, and it was enough to see.

“Really, he let you go. Oh thank the heavens, I can’t begin to imagine what you might have passed through in his hands.” Her words were only the shred of what Marianne had gone through.

She held her mother’s hands, trying her best to maintain the smile that threatened to fall from her trembling lips.

“Everything is fine now. It’s all behind us, and let’s look at the days ahead.” Marianne looked around the place before looking back at her to ask. “Where Erin? Is she not home?”

Eveline sniffed. “She went out with her friends. Why don’t you go up and refresh yourself? Your room is the second one to the right.”

Marianne flickered the switch, and the room glowed up, her eyes recklessly scanned the room, looking at things here and there, even though the place was completely different it still held a little familiarity, her things were properly arranged and she felt like tear
