ELARA’S POV

---

I woke to a throbbing ache pounding relentlessly against my temples.

My head felt unbearably heavy, and the slightest movement sent another wave of pain through my skull.

I tried remembering what had happened the night before. I could only remember some parts.

The succession ceremony.

The celebration.

The drinks.

And then… nothing.

I had drunk far more than I should have and eventually passed out.

I couldn't remember much after that, but I vaguely recalled being carrie

  • HIS BROTHER, MY MATE   Chapter 10: Pure passion

CASSIAN’S POV --- The night before, I had been the one to carry Elara upstairs after she passed out at the celebration. And for some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about her. Even now, the memory remained vivid in my mind. The softness of her skin beneath my fingertips. The delicate features of her face. The way she had looked so vulnerable in my arms. I had barely slept. Restlessness had kept me awake throughout the night, and by the time I finally dragged myself out of bed, it wasn't even seven in the morning. But there was only one thing on my mind. Elara. I needed to see her. I made my way down the hallway toward her room. When I finally reached her door, I raised my hand to knock. Then I hesitated. What if she didn't want to see me? After everything that had happened between us, I didn't want to pressure her or make her feel as though I was forcing this bond upon her. I took a deep breath and finally knocked softly. A few seconds passed. Then I

  • HIS BROTHER, MY MATE   Chapter 9: His kiss

ELARA’S POV --- I woke to a throbbing ache pounding relentlessly against my temples. I couldn't remember much after that, but I vaguely recalled being carried by someone upstairs and carefully laying me on the bed. *A knock sounded at the door.* snapping me out of the trance. I assumed it was Kieran coming to check on me. “Come in.” The door opened. But the moment I saw who stepped inside, my heart skipped. Cassian. Of all people. He stood in the doorway, his gaze settling on me. “Are you feeling better?” I nodded slightly, trying to keep our interaction as brief as possible. “Yes. A little.” He walked farther into the room, and I insti

  • HIS BROTHER, MY MATE   Chapter 8: The new Alpha

KIERAN’S POV **** Today was the day. The day I had spent my entire life preparing for. Tonight, I would finally become Alpha of the Thorne Pack. Yet, despite everything I had been taught about duty and leadership, I couldn't deny the conflicting emotions happening inside me. Part of me was excited. Another part was terrified. Becoming Alpha meant inheriting more than a title. It meant inheriting the responsibilities, burdens, and expectations that came with it. The lives of an entire pack would soon rest on my shoulders. But regardless of how I felt, there was one thing I knew. Yesterday, after seeing Elara, I had felt considerably better. Being with her had been like taking my first breath after being underwater for far too long. She had always been my escape from the pressures surrounding me. And tonight, as I stepped into my new role, I wanted her beside me. I spent the rest of the day preparing for the succession ceremony. Every detail had to be perf

  • HIS BROTHER, MY MATE   Chapter 7: A love worth defying faith

Elara pov: **** I run hastingly out of the forest like im being chased. The realization had hit me. although im destinied to be with cassian. my heart only knows kieran and i dont think i can do anything differeent. i had lost control for a second and let the bond taken over. I returned home in a state of absolute shock. Dumbfounded. I didn't know what to think or what to do. But there was one thing I knew with certainty. From that moment forward, nothing would ever be the same. Two days had passed since my mate bond had been awakened, and I had deliberately avoided going to the mansion. I couldn't risk seeing Cassian. I couldn't risk being near him. Not when every instinct inside me was screaming that he was mine. But he wasn't supposed to be mine. He was Kieran's brother. And Kieran was the man I loved. Tomorrow night was Kieran's succession ceremony, which would take place under the light of the full moon. I hadn't seen Kieran in days. I didn't

  • HIS BROTHER, MY MATE   Chapter 6: Fated

CASSIAN'S POV **** I had just stepped out of the shower. I wrapped a towel around my waist and used another to dry the remaining droplets of water from my skin. As I looked down patting myself dry, something caught my attention. A shadow. Someone was peeking through the slightly opened door. I lifted my head up. Elara. A smile tugged at the corner of my lips. she hadn't noticed I had seen her by the door. Deciding to ease the awkwardness, I spoke. "Are you planning on standing there all morning?" Before I could say another word, she turned around and bolted down the hallway. I couldn't help but chuckle. She reminded me of a child who had just been caught doing something wrong. Shaking my head with an amused smile, I returned my attention to drying myself and thought nothing more of it. --- The following day, after spending nearly three weeks confined to the mansion, I was beginning to feel suffocated. The endless meetings. The responsibilities. T

  • HIS BROTHER, MY MATE   Chapter 5: He is my mate

Elara pov: **** The next day. I was alone in my room, yet my thoughts were anything but quiet. They drifted back to the embarrassing realization that Cassian had caught me staring at him while he was half-naked. My cheeks flushed at the mere memory. For some inexplicable reason, I couldn’t stop thinking about how handsome he had looked in that moment—or how perfectly defined his physique had been. And that was the part that embarrassed me the most. Because in those few seconds, my mind had wandered into thoughts it had no business entertaining. The moment Cassian caught me staring, I had been rendered completely breathless. My hands trembled. My heartbeat accelerated. And a wave of embarrassment washed over me. I knew then that I had crossed a line. Not an imaginary one. A real one. I knew exactly what I had been doing when I stood there staring at him. And that realization made me feel even worse. I didn’t know if I could face him again, let alone w
