Vivian once again visited James on Sunday and insisted that James should follow her to a place. He refused at first but she was really persistent. He had no choice. They were halfway to the place when he broke the silence playing around them.
"Viv,where did you say we're going?" James asked with curiosity. He was just being directed by her on where to take a turn right or left. He was the one driving in his car but he's ignorant of the place.
"Yes,thanks," she replied and the expression that appeared on his face was the perfect definition of confusion.
"Pardon?"
Vivian laughed. "I know you'll be confused. You need to take a look at your face," she told him between laughter. "Anyway, that's the name. It's a popular eatery. I just want us to try the place," she furthered to quench the fire of his curiosity and continued to direct him.
This car in the garage of the place. "Wow! It's nice but quite far," he said.
"Yes,but it's alright. Let's go in. I hope their services will worth the distance,"she hoped and went in with him, then summoned a waitress.
"I want a strawberry ice cream. You?" She asked James.
"Give me some orange juice," he said, surveying the whole area with his dazzling eyes.
The waitress got to the counter and gave the order to Joyce. "Please, take over. I need to use the ladies' room,"she said and Joyce accepted.
Joyce placed the orders in a tray and headed for where the customers sat. She found them and her way to the spot.
Unfortunately, she slipped and the ice cream fell on the table while the juice spilled and ruined James's blue tie.
She became shocked and dumbfounded.
"I....I'm..... I'm so sorry, sir," she pleaded as she thought of what to do.
James became furious and glared at her. Within the twinkle of an eye,she had moved closer and started unknotting his tie. He pushed her hands away but she wouldn't budge. She removed the tie and ran for the restroom.
"What sort of mess is this? God,have mercy," she nagged, not knowing what else to do.
Vivian was shocked just as he was. She rose up to apologize. "I'm sorry. I brought you here."
"It's okay. I'm only concerned about the tie. It's expensive," he said coolly.
"I like the girl," Vivian said to his surprise with a smile.
"What?" He blurted out. He didn't see anything to like about the lady.
"Nothing. She just......Well,nothing. She's here," she notified and he turned to look at her.
"I'm so sorry,sir. I didn't mean to," Joyce apologized.
"You! Were you blind? How could you ruin my.....," James started venting.
"James," Vivian called calmly.
"Pretty madam, let me talk to him," Joyce pleaded and faced him. "What else do you want,Mr James or whatever. I have apologized again and again, isn't that enough? Do you want me to get on my knees and starts using my tongue to clean your shoes before you accept my apology?" She retorted which made his anger very much mature.
"What! How dare you talk to me like that!" James said angrily.
"Calm down. Miss, will you stop this?" Vivian pleaded but Joyce went on,not regarding her plea. "Hello, Mr Pride. Who are you? If not for the fact that you're a customer here,I would have done something you wouldn't expect to you," she paused and survey the place. Mr Manager wasn't around and there were also few customers and that's because it was Sunday. "Here's your tie, washed, dried and ironed smoothly. What else do you want me to do?" She asked, softening up. "Miss Joyce,I will report you to your manager," Vivian threatened with all seriousness. "Oh,no,pretty woman! What do you want me to do? Okay,I think I understand," she said repentantly, not that she gave a dam* about her manager but because...... Well, she didn't know. "Mr Handsome," she called. "I'm sor
It was already seven thirty in the morning and Joyce was still asleep. She slept late the previous night, how could she not still be sleeping? Her mother had thought she had gone out early to the place but was shocked to see her in her bed. "Oh,Joyce. It's Monday morning. Your interview," she shouted at her daughter who used a pillow to cover her head, not wanting to be disturbed by any noise. Your iiinterrrviewww! The words pierced through the pillow directly into her ears. She jumped up and shouted at her mother for not waking her up earlier as she ran to the bathroom. "I thought you've gone," her mother retorted. Joyce rushed out of the bathroom and sharply got dressed in a yellow shirt and fitted black skirt and a black handbag with a black flat shoe. She combed and folded her hair
He was touched. He hated seeing women crying. He had no choice. After all,he didn't want to go back on his words to his brother. "Okay, okay, fine. Have your seat. Let's get started," he said to her assurance. " Thank you so much,"she appreciated as she had her seat before him and he began his questions. She answered them sincerely but paused to look at him when he cleared his throat. "Answer this faithfully," he commanded. She nodded. "Are you married or into any sort of relationship?" He asked, looking straight into her eyes. "Is that part of the interview..... Sir?" "You're going to be my P. A,so I need to know you're going to be chanced anytime, any day," he said. Wow! Th
James sat in his office alone after summoning for his personal assistant. He had been in need of it for quite a while now. Not that there were no applicants that wanted to work but they were not qualified enough to his taste. His former P. A,a man of integrity and loyalty to him, suddenly resigned with the excuse that he would be abroad - based from then on. He was hurt but he had no choice and all applicants he had been interviewing after him did not have the qualification he wanted. Thus,he was happy when his brother,Peter, had told him of a person that was educated, hardworking and intelligent. Peter had suggested and assured him that the person would be no doubt qualified and fit for the position. If he were to be honest with himself, he found her tactful even though she talks too much. She was always willing to keep quiet whenever he told
He was boiling and this loquacious woman wouldn't do anything to help than her ranting. He was right after all. She suddenly kept quiet, dumbstruck. When she finally found her voice, she exclaimed, "What!" He laid on the sofa with his head up. He looked at the dummy looking before him. "I will if you don't stop talking. I'm queasy and all you can do is talking again and again," James complained with all seriousness even though he felt like laughing his heart out. Joyce said nothing other than,"I'm sorry. I was wrong. I talk too much." "I know,so quiet. I'm sure the staff are all gone. I need silence, okay? And find something to reduce this boiling body of mine cause I don't want to go to the hospital," he said and Joyce scampered out of the room, leaving him speechless. He couldn't shout so he let her be. It took her a while to
Felicia and her husband were so excited to see their daughter. They hugged her and asked her what had kept her from coming home on time. James explained to them and apologized, excluding some details that couldn't be mentioned like how their daughter lay on him all in the name of ghosts. Felicia and Donald were relieved after the explanation but refused to let James go home for it was very late. Past eleven. They locked the entrance and exit door and took the keys with them inside. James sat beside Joyce who was not looking herself but ignored it. "Your parents are something, Joyce," he commented and smiled. "I'm sorry for that," she replied sadly and silently. Now,he didn't understand her sudden attitude toward him and he needed to know. "Hey,what's with this I'm sorry? It's getting too much,"
"I'm sorry, sir, but we were just talking. Nothing is wrong," Kristine lied.James nodded but didn't believe a word she said. He threatened her with her job if he found out she was lying to him and went to his office. Joyce didn't follow him. She stayed behind. It would be better if she avoid being questioned. At least, for now."He did not mean that," Joyce assured her friend who was obviously scared."I pray so," Kristine hopefully said.Joyce thanked her and went straight to her office. She started to pace her office with her index finger in her mouth. She wondered what could be wrong for a man to have a female as his assistant. They were not doing anything wrong. She couldn't understand why the person who spread the rumour did. She pondered and kept pondering.Peter Andrew went into his brother's office and was welcomed by a broad smile plastered on his face. He had noticed,as he entered the building, that something was wrong as some works were whispering somethi
Mr and Mrs Andrew invited all their sons and families to their house. The house was filled with people and children calling and shouting 'Grandma, grandpa' which made Mrs Andrew so happy. The large family sat in their living room ,chatting and laughing. They were indeed happy. The children ran around the living room while playing. "Oh,I am blessed," Mrs Andrew would say when any if the children run to her. She suddenly shifted her gaze from the children to where James was seating beside Leah,Paul's wife, smiling at their conversation. "I want more children, James," James' mother suddenly declared. "Mum,don't start, please," James pleaded knowing what his mother was implying. "Don't start what? You're even sitting beside your brother's wife. Leah, come here," his mother ordered a
