"How do you like it here? Are they treating you well?"

"They gave us a room and clothes and everything we need. I can't complain" Mali says smiling. Her face is getting better, the bruises fading nicely. It's the first time I've stepped foot in the quarters where the other girls sleep. It's a big hall divided into small cubicles. Each with its own bathroom. Three to four girls share a cubicle. The other girls we came with were put next door. At least this way, Mali has people she can talk to.

"Have you made any new friends?" She shakes her head no "Why not? Feeling shy? The girls here are pretty nice"

"I just don't know how long they'll let us stay here. Can you help me find a job?"

"What about school?"

"I can't think about that right now. Once I make enough money and Mai is taken care of, I'll consider going back. At the moment, she's my priority. I want her to have a better life and grow up without worries"
