“Dad, is this really you?”

The man smiled at her softly. “Yes, Rebecca. How are you doing? You must be hungry. You’ve been sleeping for close to six hours.”

Rebecca looked around, confused. “What is all this? You left when I was just fourteen years old. Why are you back? Wait, how did I get here? I don’t know what this is all about, but let me go this minute.”

“Is that how you welcome your father after all these years?” he said calmly, walking closer to her. “You know what, they’ll get you something to eat and drink. We’ll talk later when you’re relaxed.”

He turned around and walked out of the room before she could say another word.

Rebecca sat there, stunned. Her heart pounded as she stared at the closed door. She rubbed her hands together, trying to recall the last thing she remembered. The taxi... the sudden stop... the driver saying something... and then darkness.
