MIA

I was shaken as Dilan led me out of the underground stairs. He held my hand, dragging me forcefully, until I stopped him.

I had watched him hit Caleb in the face and warn him to stay away before taking me. I’d tried to protest, but Dilan left so quickly I found myself at the top of the stairs before I could blink.

He growled when I freed my arms from his grip, irritation flashing in his expression.

“What are you doing—”

“There’s no time for this, Mia. If you want, I can explain while we’re driving.”

I froze. He had called me by name. I hadn’t fully processed everything that happened today, but I was certain—I never told him my name. And he hadn’t heard anyone else say it either. So how did he know?

He must’ve seen the question on my face because he muttered, almost like to himself, “I’ve known more about you than you think.” That chilled me more than I could explain.

Before I could respond, he grabbed my hand again and kept moving. Two servants patrolled toward us,

MIAAfter Eva dropped me by the roadside, I sat on the sidewalk for a minute, confused and shaking violently. Then I stood up. I couldn't see anything from where I was, but Khalid’s scent was strong enough to tell me he was still right across the road.At first, I planned to run as fast as I could before he caught my scent, but my body was shaking so much I could barely stand. If I tried to run, I risked passing out or falling. So, I pushed myself to walk as fast as I could while trying to maintain my balance.Bell fought, trying to take control of my body. ‘Mia! What are you doing?’ she screamed. ‘Our mate is—’“I don’t care!” I said out loud. An older woman walking by looked at me with pity in her eyes, as if she thought I was crazy. I probably looked like it. I ignored all the voices blaring in my head and just moved. I dragged my legs forward even as my limbs threatened to go numb.‘Mia! I’m losing his scent!’ Bell cried. ‘Where are you going? Why are you so stubborn?’I tried to

KHALIDI lost my phone on the verge of breaking out of that hotel. I had barely gotten away, but I'd still raised an alarm. They were probably looking for me now. June's body was still there, and the two security guards would never be able to explain how I knocked them down. It would take no time before my face was out and wanted posters were everywhere. But I still didn’t care.Somehow, my instinct had pushed me here, to an outdoor restaurant a considerable distance from the hotel. I wasn't hungry. So I just took an empty table and stared into space, pain and intense regret tearing at my gut.It is over. Everything is over.June, my only lead, had mysteriously died. I didn’t even get the chance to kill him myself. My phone was gone too. Not that it mattered that much—but it held my second option, one I had imagined I would never use: the police’s contact, Ben. Maybe I could have found a way to convince him to help me dig for Dilan’s information since it was apparent Dilan was here in

MIA“Mate.”When Bell uttered the word, my stomach dropped. My hands trembled. The sound of “mate” rang in my ears over and over, louder with every heartbeat. I pressed my palms against the glass just to stop the shaking, eyes scanning the ahead for him.He was here. Right across from me. I could feel it—so close I could almost catch the scent of heaven and roses drifting toward me. My heart pounded with a mixture of hope and dread.‘Mia… let’s go! Let’s go to him,’ Bell urged in my head.“Shut up,” I muttered aloud.“Uh, excuse me?”I blinked and turned. Eva was staring at me. I had already forgotten she was there—forgotten everything except that one word echoing in my skull.“I—I was talking to my wolf,” I stammered.Eva huffed. “Alright… well, you’re shaking. Should I shove you out of the car before you pass out?”Her voice barely registered. The world felt like it was narrowing in front of me, events from the past week flashing through my mind in a dizzy rush.Suddenly, I shook my

You told me something different… but you’re doing the opposite. Tell me, how long have you been sleeping together?”“W-we haven’t done—““Shut up, Mia. I wasn’t speaking to you. Know when to retreat back into your shell!”I just stood there, shocked and dumbfounded, a rush of emotions surging through me all at once.“Quite long—““Dilan! You know that’s a lie—““She asked you to shut up. So shut up, sister Omega,” Dilan snapped.“Sister Omega” sounded familiar. Then I remembered. Eva had called me that right after she taught me how to bring Bell back for a run—back on that night in the woods.Dilan faced Eva again. “I told you to move on. Find your mate and make up with him. You can keep crying from now until the world ends—I don’t care. I’ll still not accept you. So hit your head on the wall if you have to. But leave

MIAEva’s mouth hung wide open as she stared at us. She didn’t scream… didn’t cry… didn’t utter a single word. She just fixated on Dilan and me, sprawled on the bed.I saw her shaking, and a sharp throb of guilt pierced my conscience. Instantly, I pulled away from Dilan’s grasp and straightened my clothing. I slid off the bed and started towards her, but my legs felt numb. Guilt and shame danced in my mind, and I desperately wished I could rewind time.I wasn’t sure about this. I had never been sure about doing this. Eva and Dilan might not have been romantically involved, but I knew she loved him. She’d come to me in the middle of the night, weeping, to confront me about kissing him. And I’d defended myself… firing back at her.And now…Eva’s lips trembled, as if she was trying to form words, but none would emerge. Then, abruptly, she stormed out of the room.“Crazy,” Dilan muttered under his breath. “Why barge in like that? I don’t know where that girl gets her nerve.”Slowly, I tur

MIA“Come in,” I said. I knew it was Dilan. The door handle twisted, but the door didn’t open. I suddenly remembered that I had bolted it the night before.“Oh damn!” I rushed over to the door and removed the bolt before opening it.Dilan stood outside, a smile on his face. He looked like a different person. His hair wasn’t scattered as it was last night—nor was he as pale. He didn’t appear angry or in pain or frustrated either. Instead, there was a glint in his eyes. He looked like an entirely new person. He stepped into the room, his head turning, scanning as if looking for something. He wore a white shirt and khaki knickers.“You locked me out, huh?”“Oh… no,” I laughed nervously, pressing my palm to my forehead. “Just thought to bolt the door for extra privacy. I know it’s your house, but it’s still my room.”Dilan laughed. For the first time, it sounded genuine, not from the dark corners of his mind. Our eyes met, and we just stood there for a full minute. The clock ticked in my
