Aaron's POV

Are you crazy? Is it your plan to get us both killed?"

"No, sorry." I replied, waving an apology to the other vehicles that had been cut off by my sudden break.

"Did you just say Mayor Roland?"

"Yeah, well, he hasn't won the elections yet but everyone already knows what the outcome is going to be..."

"I don't give a shit if he is to become the fucking president of the united states. You can not meet him."

"Excuse me?" Jasmine demanded, baffled.

"I said you can not meet with that man."

She chuckled humorlessly. "Have you forgotten so soon what I literally just told you mere seconds ago? You don't own me, and you sure as hell don't tell me who I can and cannot meet up with."

"No, no you don't understand. That man is not a good person. The news that's out there on him is...look, you cannot trust him okay?"

"And who am I supposed to trust exactly? You?"

"Why not?" I asked, genuinely curious and when she laughed in my face, I actually felt bruised.

"I'll rather trust ten Ma

Jasmine's POVI hated to admit it, but the fact remained that Aaron's words got to me in a way that I didn't they could, in a way that I didn't want them to.Mayor Roland was indeed an unusual fellow, with the way he kept making headlines and not always for good. He had quite the questionable reputation but there had never really been any concrete evidence to implicate him so everyone just believed that the rumors were simply speculations created by his adversaries to make him look bad and cost him the elections. He was also quite consistent when it came to charity donations and community building. He was what you would call the people's patriarch so it was really hard to turn the people against him.As for me, I didn't know what I believed. I didn't know the man personally and none of his so called deviant behaviors had ever been directed towards me or towards someone I knew personally so I didn't feel the need to be wary of him.But Aaron had spoken with so much intensity, like

Aaron's POV"Someone is a popular girl tonight." I declared bitterly, slicing the heavily thick silence in the air that was starting to feel almost suffocating. I was trying to catch a glimpse at her phone while also trying to focus on the road and that turned out to be quite a challenge.Jasmine and i were on our way home after attending the charity event and ever since we hit the road, to my greatest chagrin, Jasmine had not said a single word to me and when I spoke to her, she either ignored me or gave me one word answers, and while I could live with that, I couldn't help but get infuriated at the fact that even though she wouldn't talk to me, she hadn't stopped smiling and laughing at her phone. The plan was to drop her off before I proceeded to my apartment but the longer she stayed chuckling at her phone, the stronger the urge to snatch it from her hands and chuck it out the window. That wouldn't end well of course so I decided against it, choosing instead to sulk with my tho

Aaron's POVThe auction finally ended at about eleven thirty PM and by the time it was finally time for the gala proper, hundreds of art pieces which were worth hundreds of thousand dollars. The proceedings from the auction was supposed to be used to fund a specialized school for disabled children somewhere in the suburbs and that was the only reason why I even bothered to bid on anything. I hated art or rather, I didn't care much for it other than the aesthetic value to tended to provide. Jasmine also seemed to share a similar view and as far as my knowledge went about her, she didn't know jack about art, but she still ended up coughing up quite a lot of money and I needed no prophecy to tell me that the reason she did it was because she felt bad for those kids and she wanted to help them in any way she possibly could. My Jasmine was kindhearted like that. Her heart was pure and that was only one of the reasons I found her so attractive. I was an asshole on most days but today, I

Aaron's POV"Aaron...Aaron...""Yes? What?"As it turns out, Jasmine had been calling my name for the past few seconds and I hadn't even heard her. I was too busy getting lost in her appearance which was nothing if not divine. She was wearing a lovely red dress that hugged her body in all the right places, accentuating her curves so much so that I found myself getting a little jealous when I thought about the fact that other men were actually going to see her like that, a reaction that annoyed me to no end.Her hair was done in a sophisticated style, gathered upwards towards the crown of her head and most likely secured with lots and lots of bobby pins.Needless to say, she looked absolutely stunning and although I knew it was mostly, if not entirely Rosie's handiwork, the outcome was definitely worth it. I was surprised she even agreed to any of it in the first place. "Why are you staring at me like that?" She asked, smoothing out the front of her dress. "Is it that bad?"It brok

Aaron's POV.I am indeed a mess.Because how else would I explain that stupid shit I pulled earlier. I mean, i had absolutely no reason lie to Jasmine, but like I said, I couldn't really help myself in that moment. Over the years, I had built myself an extra layer of skin, taught myself to keep my distance from her even though all I wanted to do was hold her, be close to her, and never ever leave her.I had learned to engage in stupid arguments and pointless banter with her even though all I wanted was to whisper sweet nothings in her ears and tell her how beautiful she was and by God she had to be the most beautiful thing to ever walk this planet.Jasmine was the absolute love of my life, had been for the last decade at least and i didn't think that was ever going to change, but she hated my guts. I have no clue what I did wrong exactly but the more I tried to get close to her, the more I find out that the only type of conversation she would ever have with me is an argument, an

"Uh, this has to do with me. So I think I have a lot of choices, in fact.""You know what? You're right." She retorted."I am?" I asked, hardly believing my ears. It was indeed a rare occurrence that Rosie and I would agree on anything without us, first of all, getting into a battle of words. "Yes, you're right. You indeed have a lot of choices. But I'm here to make sure that you make the right one. "Okay, I'm not sure I follow." I confessed. Rosie sighed helplessly, looking at me like one would look at a child who didn't know their left from their right. And then, slowly, painstakingly slowly, she walked over to me and placed her hands on my shoulders. "Dream with me." she began, waving at something imaginary on the ceiling. "When you hear a charity gala, what comes to your mind?"" A bunch of snobbish people who have more money than they know what to do with and want to throw it around. Come to think of it, how much of the money actually goes to charity? I mean, there are starv

"I got busted," I cried to Rosie that evening as soon as I got home. I was barely through the door and my keys had scarcely made contact with the counter when I began my rant. Rosie looked at me in confusion, then slowly some sort of realization dawned on her and she gasped. "Look, I love you with everything I've got, but I would not help you hide the body. I refuse to become an accomplice to murdee." Now it was my turn to look at her in confusion. "What body, Rosie? What are you talking about?" She scratched her chin and smiled sheepishly. "Sorry, I got a little carried away. But just so we're clear, you didn't kill anybody, right?" "No, no, I didn't kill anybody Rosie, but I think I might...and soon too." I quickly tacked on, suddenly remembering the encounter I had had with Aaron just a couple of hours ago. "One day I'm going to just snap, lose all my control and strangle the very life out of him." Rosie chuckled, "What did Aaron do this time? And if you didn't kill somebod

"I...um...i....""I'm sorry what was that Jazz?" Aaron mocked. "Have you suddenly lost the ability to speak properly or has a cat got your tongue?""No, I can speak perfectly fine. "I replied defensively, trying to sound as unbothered as possible, but somehow, my voice still managed to quaver."And I already told you to stop calling me that.""That is such a pathetic attempt at a topic change." Aaron said in response and despite myself, I couldn't help but agree with him."...But since you're asking so nicely, " He continued. "maybe I can come up with a new nickname for you. So what do you think about spy, or dirty player...or wait I know just the one, snooper.""Look, just stop okay. I made a mistake. But what right do you have to judge me? I mean, it's not as if your methods have been entirely pure.""Oh really? Cuz I don't remember mobilizing any of your staff to spy on you for me.""It wasn't like that...not really. " I replied, my voice small.I hated being caught in the he
