Chapter 7 I Thought You would Never Come

CLARA'S POV

I woke up this morning and discovered that I had a high fever. I asked my roommate to help me request a sick leave, and then I lay in my dorm room. So many things have been happening recently, and I feel extremely exhausted. In a drowsy state, I drifted into a dream.

I dreamed about that fateful night, the night that changed the course of my life.

"He deserted us!" Beta Benson, still a Beta at that time, exclaimed excitedly, waving his battered right hand. "I called out to him, as warriors, we cannot betray our pack."

He paced around the room, his shadow swaying in the flickering fire of the wobbling fireplace. Everyone had a serious expression, their gaze fixed on him.

"He pretended not to hear me, hunched over like a featherless chicken and ran deep into the forest." Benson continued, "I was worried he would fall into the enemy's trap, and guess what! Oh, boy, he fell right into it, blinded by fear!"
