Nadia

The car rumbled with movement for what felt like forever. Then, finally, it stopped.

I heard the crunch of gravel under boots.

And then the trunk popped open.

Greg's shadow loomed over me and when his face appeared above mine, there was no remorse or fear. Just… indifference.

He bent down, grabbed me by the arms, and dragged me out like luggage. The gravel and sticks bit into my back as I was pulled deeper into the woods.

Then, he dropped me. I landed in damp soil. It smelled like decay.

Greg stood over me for a moment. I saw the faint outline of his face in the moonlight.

“At least nobody will look for you and even if they do? We never met,” With that, he turned and walked away without hesitation, leaving me there to die.

I stared up at the sky, the edges of my vision blurring. Everything was fading to black.

I had no self-healing ability or an inner wolf to save me. Nature would take what Greg left behind.

Tears dropped from my eyes, and my lips trembled with one last whisoered desire.

“I don’t want to die…”

Just then, I heard footsteps. They were getting closer and I could feel the vibrations in the ground.

“Help…” I croaked out with effort. It came out broken. I tried again. “Please…”

There were more footsteps and then a sudden quiet. Had I been abandoned? Did they not hear me?

Just when I was already losing hope, strong arms scooped me up in a princess carry. I was pressed against a broad, warm chest, the scent of pine, smoke, and something wild and electric wrapped around me.

My vision allowed me one last look at the world but I was too weak to scream for help.

I would know those red eyes anywhere, that allure for danger. That bloodthirst.

But my vision was dimming finally giving in to the exhaustion.

“Mate.” That was the last word I heard, then darkness.

~

Women screaming for help.

Children crying.

Blood everywhere.

I bolted upright and cried out as my head exploded in a dizzying pain.

I was panting, realizing that it had only been a dream that the infamous Varic the terrible known for his crimson eyes would save me much less call me his mate.

“You shouldn’t move,” a low, husky voice said.

I froze. Slowly, I turned my head and let out a small cry of panic.

A man was sitting in a dark wooden chair by the fire, watching me.

He was big and muscled like a soldier. He stood slowly and stepped toward me, and the fire’s glow finally touched his face.

My breath caught in my throat.

It hadn’t been a dream…

No. No!

Ren eyes like hot metal. A scar across one brow. A reputation I knew too well. Too close to home. A history that had haunted every wolf tale whispered across the territories.

Varic, The terrible.

My pulse spiked, and I scrambled backward on the bed instinctively, ignoring the pain ripping through my skull. He noticed but remained unfazed. His eyes narrowed slightly with something I couldn't identify.

“So, you know who I am,” he said quietly.

“Good,” he finished and turned back to his seat.

Stories flooded my mind. Stories of the Alpha who tore down enemy packs. Who refused the Council’s rule. Who vanished into the woods and came back with stronger powers without a source.

“Wh-why…” My voice trembled. “Why did you…?”

“You were dying,” he said simply, folding his arms across his chest. “I smelled your blood in the woods. You called out for help.”

My mouth thinned as the bits of memory flickered through me.

I swallowed hard.

Something sharp passed through his gaze. A ghost of emotion too fast to catch.

“I was supposed to kill you,” he said bluntly, stepping closer to the fire, and away from me. “You crossed into my land. That alone is reason enough. But worse…” He tilted his head, watching me. “I smelled Greg on you. You’re his wife.”

My heart sank. He knew Greg?

I was supposed to be on my knees, face on the floor in fear but something about him…

“So why didn’t you?” I asked, stunning myself with courage I have never had.

He was silent for a moment, then looked away toward the window.

“Because you’re just like me” His eyes found mine again. “Your pain needs no curtains.”

Something inside me twisted. I looked down at my hands, weak and useless.

“I don’t want your pity,” I snapped, the remnants of the fear curdling into something bitter. “I don’t want your help. I’ll go back.”

“To what?” Varic’s voice cut in, low and harsh now. “To the man who tried to bury you in the dirt?”

I flinched.

“You’re dangerous. Everyone knows what you are. I’d rather take my chances with the monsters I know than stay here with one I don’t.”

He hardly exhaled or inhaled. Hardly made foot sounds, but when he moved with lightning speed towards me, his figure towering over me in an instant, I didn’t flinch.“You think I’m your biggest threat?”

A dark chuckle escaped his lips while My spine stiffened.

“I don’t care,” I said, stubborn and scared. “There’s nothing anybody else can do to me. I just want to go home.”

He gave me a long, grim look. “Home to meadow pack?” He asked and my brows furrowed.

How did he know my pack name?

A stiffness overcame his face as he looked at me with pity “you didn’t know,” he asked with a shocking concern.

I blinked. “What are you talking about?”

His voice dropped as he explained. “Meadow pack. Five years ago… someone wiped them off the face of this earth.”

My breathing halted. “What?”

“They're gone,” he said flatly. “Your parents. Your bloodline. All of them. Greg killed them.”

What?

“You're fucking kidding.”

*I'm certainly not.” He looked at his fingers.

  • He Called Me Weak, Now I Hold His Fate   Chapter 71

Greg's povI was still staring out the window when he finally spoke.Cleared his throat like he was bracing for impact.“There’s… something else you need to see, Alpha.”I turned my head slowly, the weight of my thoughts already too much to bear. His voice carried that careful tone the one people use when they know the truth might break you further. He stepped forward and handed me a folder.“What is it?” I asked, taking it with stiff fingers.“The financial report. From the treasury. The full debt and expenditure records… for the past five years.”I flipped it open lazily at first. My eyes skimming through rows of numbers, projected growths, declining reserves, pending loan repayments. But then I saw the total.

Greg's pov The wheels of the wheelchair screeched across the polished stone floor as I forced the chair forward, furious with how slow it all felt. I hated this weakness. Hated how I had to use my whole damn upper body just to get across a room I used to pace in seconds. When I reached the window, I planted my hands on the sill and stared out at the city I once ruled with ease. My pack of which I now only ruled half of it. She took it from me.No… seduced it from me. Vanessa or Nadia or whatever name she had. I growled under my breath. How the hell did I fall for her? How did I not see it?I remember the way she looked at me that first night with soft eyes, like she saw right through the arrogance and scars. She didn’t flinch when I barked orders or raised my voice. She smiled, laughed even, and touched me in a way that drew me towards her. I wanted her to be the Luna of this pack and rule besides me but she had ulterior plans from the beginning and I just realized that now. I gr

Greg's povThe applause was still ringing when I turned to Thelma.“Take me out of here,” I hissed. She blinked. “What?”“I said take me out. Now.” My voice came out low, guttural, seething. The smile still hadn’t faded from Varic’s face. That smug bastard. Sitting there like a god among men, with her by his side like a damned crown.Nadia.My Nadia. My hands trembled on the armrests. I wasn’t sure if it was the rage or the weakness. Probably both. My whole body buzzed with fury, but I couldn’t even stand and that fact alone made me want to scream.“Greg ” Thelma leaned closer. “Just breathe. You’re making a scene.”“I don’t care.” I jer

  • He Called Me Weak, Now I Hold His Fate   Chapter 68

Nadia’s pov The hall glittered like starlight had spilled across marble floors. Golden chandeliers floated above, their flames swaying to the soft music played by the court’s finest ensemble. Nobles shimmered in silks and polished boots, laughter echoing as they sipped wine too expensive to taste. But beneath the merriment was something colder. Watchful. Tense. At the head of the long, arched table sat Varic, draped in obsidian armor etched with the royal crest. His hair had been neatly pulled back, his features no longer sickly, but sharpened—like a blade freshly honed. He looked every bit the Alpha King they feared. And seated beside him, dressed in deep crimson velvet, was me.Nadia.His bond. His chosen.A different kind of silence followed me as I took my place beside him. The kind that crawled along skin. That said, She’s not one of us… and yet she is.The food arrived in procession — dishes too elegant to eat, carried by gloved servants under the watchful eyes of Varic’s priv

  • He Called Me Weak, Now I Hold His Fate   Chapter 67

Greg's pov The world always looks smaller when you’re staring at it from a goddamn wheelchair.I used to stand at this very balcony and see kingdoms in the stretch of land beyond lands I conquered, people I ruled, fear I commanded. Now? Now I see shadows and ghosts, and a reflection of a man I barely recognize in the glass. My hands gripped the railing, fingers trembling from the strain. Every breath burned in my chest like I’d swallowed fire. The cold air didn’t help. Neither did the silence.Behind me, I heard the soft shuffle of feet.“You shouldn’t be up,” Thelma’s voice cut through the stillness like a chisel to stone. Gentle, but firm.I didn’t look at her.Didn’t want to see the pity in her eyes.“I’m fine,” I muttered, leaning harder into the railing. My legs quivered beneath me, useless as ever. “I’m not some feeble old man needing to be tucked in like a damn child.”“You’re not feeble,” she said, walking closer. “But you’re not well either. You should rest, Greg.”“Rest?”

  • He Called Me Weak, Now I Hold His Fate   Chapter 66

Nadia’s pov The moonlight spilled through the tall arched windows, bathing the stone walls of the palace in a silvery sheen. I lay there beside Varic, his body warm and steady, the rhythm of his breathing grounding me yet sleep refused to come. Every time I closed my eyes, the weight of everything we’d endured bore down on my chest like a stone.Sleep wouldn’t come. Not even with Varic’s warmth beside me, or the steady rhythm of his breathing grounding me. My body longed to rest, but my mind refused to follow. So I slipped from the bed silently, wrapped myself in a robe, and padded barefoot down the long, echoing halls of the palace. The stone was cold beneath my feet. The air was still.Too still. My wolf stirred, restless as if sensing something I didn’t yet understand. I told myself I only needed a walk. Just a few minutes to clear my head and shake off the weight pressing down on my chest.Quietly, I slipped out from under the covers, careful not to wake him. He stirred, mumbling
