Asher's POV

"No. Don't even think about that.”

My voice sliced through the silence of the night like a blade. Dante had just suggested that I stay away from him and he would stay away from me. And we both can just carry on with our lives. But I can't, I would never do such a thing. Not after what he saw, not after what he knows now.

His eyes widened at my blunt rejection, his lips parting in silent disbelief. Pretty sure it was a combination of confusion and fear oozing out of his eyes.

He had sat up, his back pressing against the cool concrete of the rooftop, I had walked away but I turned to look back at him.

He was far from me as he could manage without toppling over the edge. He still looked pale, the aftershock of my transformation written all over his face.

"No?" he repeats my statement, as though he had not heard it right.

I did not flinch. "You don’t get to just walk away from this, Dante. Not from me."

I walked slowly toward him, I stood tall, my arms crossed over my chest,

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 126

Asher’s POVIt was the kind of night where it felt as if even the air was watching you. I had been patient long enough. Mateo thought he could keep playing his little game while being perfectly hidden, feeding Dante poison in whispers, smiling that smug little smile in public like butter would not melt in his mouth. He thought he could provoke me without consequences. But I had been paying attention, I carefully watched him more and of course I had found something. It had not taken much, really. Just a few overheard conversations, a few items in his desk drawer he thought were well hidden, and the scent which was sharp, chemical and unmistakable, that clung to him on certain nights. It was the same scent I had picked up once before, months ago, on a night where he came back glassy-eyed and jittery, his words tripping over themselves. I had connected the dots.Mateo had a dangerous habit, and I knew who he was most afraid of finding out.I found him alone that night in the common ro

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 125

Asher’s POVI could smell them before I even saw them. The strong scent of Mateo’s cologne, expensive and layered on just too much, mixed with Dante’s more neutral scent. Both lingered in the narrow hallway outside the old study room in the hostel. My senses, always attuned to the smallest changes in the environment, immediately picked up the subtle shift in tone between their voices. It was not casual. It was not friendly. It was hushed and far too deliberate for two people who were supposedly just “talking.”I slowed my pace, my steps silent against the floor. My kind can move differently, fluid, noiseless, instinctively predatory. The light above buzzed in my ears like static, masking the soft shuffle of my boots as I closed the distance.“…I am telling you, this could work,” Mateo’s voice was sharp but low, edged with the kind of certainty that comes from obsession.“And what if he finds out?” Dante’s voice was tighter, laced with a fear he was trying to disguise. “He is… not exa

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 124

Dante’s POVWalking back to my room, his words kept echoing in my head. But I kept seeing Asher's face too. The fear that gripped me was nothing to write home about. The moment I closed the door behind me, the silence in my room pressed down on me, it was thick and suffocating, as if the walls themselves knew what Mateo had just suggested.I hopped onto the bed, and sat there for a moment, staring at the floor. My mind would not stop replaying his words. Get vital information for him while being close to Asher. That was not too hard, but…. I leaned back, closing my eyes. Just thinking about Asher’s name sent a tremor through me. It was not fear in the normal sense, it was the kind of dread you felt when you knew you were living too close to a storm, the kind that could swallow you whole at any moment.I wanted out. God, I wanted out so badly. But wasn’t Mateo just pushing me toward something even more dangerous? What if Asher found out? What would he do to me?The thought alone made

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 123

Mateo’s POVThe hostel corridors were more quiet than usual. It was really late, the kind of late where the hum of the vending machine was the only noise heard at the time. My mind was already buzzing, I had been turning over different scenarios in my head, trying to map out the perfect way to dismantle Asher without exposing myself too soon. Each idea had ended up in the trash pile of my brain: too risky, too weak, too obvious. I was running low on patience.I rounded the corner toward the common room, intending to grab my phone charger from my locker, when I stopped dead in my tracks.Asher and Dante were together. The sight was strange enough to make me pause, it was not hostile, not openly friendly either, but they were close enough to be in the same space without blood being shed. That in itself was…generally unusual, although recently, they have been close. I leaned against the wall just out of view for a moment, carefully studying them. Dante’s posture was rigid, his jaw w

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 122

Mateo’s POVI would be lying if I said the failure with silver had not rattled the fuck out of me. I could still feel the sting of humiliation from that day, like a burn that refused to heal. But I was not yet done. Definitely not, I was not going to let one failed attempt stop me. I had spent nights researching werewolf lore again, going through centuries of scattered myths, contradictions, and desperate warnings written by people who swore they had encountered “the beasts.”And one word kept appearing. No idea why I ignored it the first time. But it was more common in my new research. It was Nightshade.Belladonna. Deadly in the right dose, subtle enough in the wrong hands to look like nothing more than a simple digestive issue. According to half the sources I read, it was one of the few natural toxins that could bypass a werewolf’s extraordinary resilience, slow them down, make them weak, maybe even take them out entirely. This time, I would not confront him head-on. I would not

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 121

Mateo’s POVSilver.Every site I read, every blog, every old legend, it all said the same thing, silver burns them, weakens them, kills them if you drive it deep enough. I had read the words so many times that they were practically carved into my brain. It was their kryptonite. Their one true weakness. So when I held that small silver bracelet in my palm, feeling the cold of it against my skin, I could not help the smirk tugging at the corner of my lips. This was it, my first move. The first step in proving everything I had learned, and in taking him down. The plan was a simple and easy one. Foolproof, even. All I had to do was get close to him, close enough to make him touch it. If silver really was poison to his kind, then one touch would tell me everything I needed to know. And when it works? When I see him startled, when I see the pain flash across his face? That is when I will know for sure that I am in control.I slipped the bracelet into my pocket and grabbed my phone, heading
