Dante“Beep, beep, beep,” my alarm clock buzzed, pulling me from my beautiful slumber.“Shut up,” I mumbled, turning off the alarm and turning to the other side of my bed to continue with my sleep. A few minutes later, the clock buzzed again.God, I hate Mondays. I hate my new life. Life was perfect till my mom got transferred to another city and that meant I had to change my environment. Although I’m already used to the constant relocation, I thought that would be the last since I’m entering university, but according to her, she can’t handle me staying back alone.I had a life for crying out loud. My girlfriend, buddies, and the amazing grandma that lived next door, name them. At this point, I think my alarm clock and I should switch places. Maybe I wouldn’t have to worry about preparing for school. I grumbled and pulled the duvet over my head to think about my life.Just then, I heard a light knock on my door but I decided to ignore it. The knock came again along with my mom’s voice

DanteA loud bang on my door jolted me awake. My heart was pounding like it might stop any second. I sat up trying to catch my breath.“Hey, new guy. C’mon, open the door,” a familiar voice called from the other side. It was Mateo.I sighed, half annoyed and half relieved. What a nuisance.I lazily dragged myself to the door and opened it.“You aren’t dressed yet?” he scoffed as he scanned me from head to toe.“Dressed for whatI asked yawning loudly.“The party, dummy.”I know I said I wanted to attend the party earlier, but now I’m having a second thought on that. I wanted to return to my sleep.“The thing is…” I started but was immediately cut short by him. He nudged me on my shoulder letting himself in.“No excuses, Dante. You don’t have to sulk yourself in the room forever. You need some social experience.” He walked to my closet and started throwing my clothes unceremoniously on the bed. I grunted in frustration as I watched him. He suddenly stopped at turned to look at me with d

Asher“Great, just great” I muttered as my backbone began to twitch back to normal. I have shifted many times in my life, but each was more painful than the other. The bone twitching and breaking, the fang sprouting out from the gum and the claw tearing my skin.It isn’t even full moon yet, but I’m used to always transforming to a wolf without warning. One thing I’m not really good at is knowing how to control my wolf. I was casted out by my pack and forced to blend with the human folks, which has been great so far and wasn’t as bad as I had imagined. Eleven years ago, during the blood moon ceremony, a catastrophe occurred. The only thing I remembered was waking up in the middle of the event with my hands and face filled with blood. The white and golden robe I was wearing was soaked in blood.Everyone was staying clear and staring at me with fear written all over their faces. I saw my mom crying while my dad, the alpha of the Moondusk pack, was comforting her and staring at me with a

Dante. “You're kidding.” I chuckled lightly and turned back to what I was doing, “Nice one Mateo.” “Dude, I'm really not.” He replied seriously. I turned back to him and could instantly see from his face that he wasn't kidding. “Would there happen to be another Asher Lowell on campus?” I asked.Silly question. Of course there wasn't, but a tiny part of me hoped he'd say yes, there was. And he was a really nice guy who didn't punch freshmen for sport. “Nope. Just the one you know.” Mateo replied sadly. Well shit. “I was shocked too. I mean, what were the odds huh?” Mateo shrugged. “When did you see it?” I asked, still hoping to find the 'gotcha moment' Mateo was sure to pull any moment now. “This morning. There are new students coming in today. Needed to go get their files so I can get them settled in. Happened to see your room number and the two names beside it.” “And you couldn't change it? Switch it to someone else?” I asked, aware I was sounding a little panicky.

Dante. I grumbled in annoyance with myself as I stomped down the hallway. It wasn't until I got out of the dorm rooms and into the open that I realized people were looking at me funny. Who could blame them? I probably looked like shit. Smelt like it too. There had to be some sort of public bathroom on campus. Like in the gym maybe. I reached into my backpack for the map that Mateo had given to me alongside several vouchers and pamphlets telling you how to get the most out of college and to stay away from drugs. I found those but I couldn't find the map. Turning out to be a really shitty day. Should've taken Mateo up on his offer to show me the way but I thought I still had the map and it didn't matter because he fled the room the second he got a chance to anyway. I looked around, trying to get my bearings. This was part of the things I hated about relocating and changing schools so much. Everything is new. You have to learn new roads and street names and ways of doing things
