Mateo’s POV

“So, what you are telling me,” I said, smirking as I stirred my overly sweet iced coffee, “is that she tripped over your towel and still gave you her number?”

Jules groaned, slamming her locker shut. “No, she tripped, but I caught her. Like a damn rom-com moment. The towel was incidental.”

“Incidental,” I repeated with a chuckle. “Right.”

“I swear, Teo, if you were not so charmingly annoying, I would punch you.”

I raised both hands in mock surrender. “I live to serve.”

The locker room buzzed with the usual pre-practice banter. I caught glimpses of Dante stretching alone at the far end, his headphones in, eyes low.

He had not been talking much lately, not to me, not to Amir, definitely not to Asher. Something had shifted. The tension between those two could curdle milk.

I did not know what had happened during that last blow-up, but even I could feel the fallout vibrating through the team like an aftershock. Whatever it was, Dante was not talking. And Asher, well… Asher lo

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 155

Mateo’s POVThe forest had gone quiet.I stepped out from behind the thick tree where I had been hiding, the bark scraping against my jacket as if to remind me of how long I had been pressed against it.My boots sank into the damp earth as I moved toward the cabin. The stench of blood clung to the air, heavy and metallic, and with every step I took, the silence felt sharper, crueler. Then I saw a body, moving closer, I realised it was just Asher’s friend. He lay sprawled in front of the cabin, his body limp, his chest unmoving. Blood stained the soil beneath him. His eyes, wide open, seemed to stare up at the ceiling, lifeless, glassy and empty. One of the werewolves I had brought with me, still masked, broad-shouldered, his claws still coated with red, stood beside the corpse. His breathing was rapid, his shoulders rising and falling like a beast that had tasted something it could not quite forget.“Asher escaped,” he growled, his voice low but seething with fury.I clenched my fist

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 154

Dante’s POVThe headlights which instantly cut through the night were like salvation. My legs were shaking from standing so long, my chest ached with every breath. When the car slowed down, brakes hissing against the gravel road, relief washed over me so sharply that I nearly collapsed on the spot.A man leaned out the driver’s side window, he looked to be maybe in his late forties. His eyes flicked over me, narrowing in suspicion. I couldn’t blame him, I probably looked half wild myself, with sweat dripping down my temples, shirt clinging to my skin, my hair plastered to my forehead.“You okay, kid?” His voice carried that cautious tone of someone who wanted to help but wasn’t sure if I was danger or desperation.I swallowed hard, my throat dry. “Please, I just… I need a ride. I need to be away from here.”He studied me for a moment longer, then sighed and popped the passenger door open. “Get in. But fair warning, I gotta stop up ahead. Nature’s call. You’ll need to wait a minute.”

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 153

Asher’s POVThe mask came away in my grip with a wet tear, and before the wolf beneath could even react, my fist connected with his face once more. The impact jolted up my arm, bone meeting bone, and his head snapped to the side with a spray of blood. I staggered back, chest rising up and down, vision narrowed to a red haze, and then I saw him.His face. The moonlight filtered through the trees, spilling across features I recognized too well. The sharp cheekbones, the eyes burning with feral hunger, the same cruel smirk I had glimpsed once before at Dowell. My stomach turned. My worst suspicion was carved into flesh right in front of me.“You,” I whispered, my voice a rasp of disbelief and fury. His lips curled, a low laugh bubbling from his chest despite the blood dripping down his chin. “Finally caught on, have you?”It was not random. It was never random. They had not just stumbled upon us by chance. Every strike, every shadow, every step had been planned. Jake’s death was not

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 152

Asher’s POVI had seen blood before, been in many situations that saw me witness a lot of blood pouring out of one person, but nothing prepared me for the sight of Jake falling. Just about three seconds ago, he was by my side, his teeth bared with claws flashing, his roar echoing through the night, the next moment, he shoved me out the way and a wolf’s strike tore through his chest, and he staggered back with a sound that would haunt me forever. His body crumpled onto the ground, his breath rattling as blood poured out of his chest and mouth, staining the floor beneath us, his blood had spilled across it due to the severity of the tear. “No, Jake!” My voice cracked. My legs moved on instinct, dropping directly beside him. I pressed my hands against the wound trying to stop the bleeding as best I could, but my palms were useless here, slick with his blood as it spilled between my fingers. His eyes, wide with pain, found mine. He tried to speak, his lips shaking and still blood fil

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 151

Asher’s POVThere was no point going after Dante, I just hoped no one had been following him throughout these visits.A part of me was glad he finally knew the truth, another part of me was grievous cause that could mean absolutely destruction. I watched him go, just when I was about to close the cabin door, the night split open. The sounds came first, branches snapping, leaves being stepped on, heavy paws pounding against the earth. My body went rigid before my mind even caught up, instincts screaming danger. Then the shadows from the corner of my eyes came alive. Figures burst from the treeline, they wore masks, their movements impossibly fast, sharper than anything human. Their eyes glinted through the slits in their masks, predatory and merciless. The air itself seemed to recoil as they fanned out, encircling, their snarls ripping through the quiet like a chorus of nightmares. Those were werewolves, not just random rogues, I knew those guys.Even masked, even cloaked in shadow,

  • He Is Mine   CHAPTER 150

Dante’s POVI tried to behave like I was not panicking on the inside, but my composure failed me as I stood there with Asher. I could not stop thinking about the word and how casually Jake had said it. Mate. What a nasty joke that was that he made, but instead of laughing, it got me into a state of paranoia. It was not just a word, it was a curse, a chain, or could I say it was a heavy death sentence wrapped in something deceptively simple. Maybe for werewolves, it was simple, but for me….. I felt it sinking deep, rooting into every corner of me, until it was impossible to think of anything else.My breathe became uneven and my chest suddenly felt heavier than it should. My lungs burned, I could feel the cabin walls begin to close in, pressing down on me like they wanted to suffocate me. I had to get out and catch my breathe. I staggered back, shaking my head violently. “No… no, no, no. Don’t say that. Don’t be that.”Asher’s eyes widened, his lips trembling like he wanted to say
