The next morning, the sunlight streamed into the room, and outside, there was the sound of birds and the fragrance of flowers.

For a brief moment, the whole world seemed free of gloom.

I even once thought that everything that happened yesterday was just a dream, a terrifying nightmare.

That was until I went downstairs and saw it in the kitchen, amidst the leftover food scraps: the pulled pork that Wynn had personally cooked for me last night.

Cold and unappetizing, it lay in a dirty and messy garbage bag.

Memories flooded my mind like a tidal wave.

Just the thought of that name was enough to pierce my heart with unbearable pain.

I picked up my phone, and there were a series of messages from Wynn, filling the screen.

"Suzy, I've made breakfast for you. It's warming in the microwave. Remember to eat when you wake up.

"I have some urgent matters at the company, and I might not be back tonight.

"Be a good girl and have your breakfast; otherwise, your stomach might act up again."
