After my sister-in-law, Isabella Sinclair, gives birth to my niece, my older brother, Lucas Donovan, runs off with my wealthy girlfriend. Furious, I decide to take advantage of the fact that Lucas and I look alike. I go to Isabella's bedroom and knock on the door, vowing to make her and their child pay under the guise of my brother. Ten years later, Lucas returns. Looking at the happy little girl I had helped raise and the increasingly successful career Isabella has built, he sneers coldly, "I've brought your girlfriend back to you. Now, it's time for you to give me back the family you took from me." By now, that once-rich ex-girlfriend of mine, Chloe Montgomery, has already lost her entire fortune. Lucas presses me, "If you refuse, I'll tell everyone about how you plotted to seduce Isabella!" Gritting my teeth, I give in. That night, I book a flight and take a cab to the airport. In the back seat, sitting on my lap, Isabella says, "I'm much better than that woman. Why not give me a try?"

Chapter 1

When my older brother, Lucas Donovan, ran away with my wealthy girlfriend, Chloe Montgomery, he even had the nerve to send me a photo of the two of them together.

"Goodbye, Marcus. You could never beat me when we were kids. And you're still far behind me now," he said.

I was furious. Standing in front of a mirror, I stared at the face I shared with my identical twin brother.

That same night, I knocked on the bedroom door of my sister-in-law, Isabella Sinclair.

Since Lucas was shameless enough to abandon his wife and newborn daughter in my city, I decided it was fine for me to take over his life and make them pay!

Isabella felt uneasy about her husband's sudden change in attitude. At the same time, her business was struggling. Naturally, she assumed I was frustrated because she wasn't making enough money and couldn't provide a better life for the family.

So, when it came to me, she became even more humble. Whenever I criticized her, she would simply lower her head and promise that things would get better soon.

I knew Isabella was kind-hearted. I just never thought she was this kind-hearted.

So, I turned my attention to their daughter, Olivia Donovan.

By the time she turned three years old, she genuinely believed I was her father. Unfortunately for her, that father was strict. The meals I made for her were terrible, and I'd scold her when she misbehaved.

Every time, she'd purse her lips and tug nervously at her sleeve, looking at me with teary eyes. Then, she'd say timidly, "Daddy, don't be mad… I'll go stand in the corner by myself. Don't make yourself sick from being angry."

The mother and daughter were too alike. They were too gentle for their own good.

Everything changed the day I went to pick Olivia up from preschool and saw a group of kids hitting and kicking her. I completely lost my cool.

Nobody was allowed to bully my daughter except me! And even I myself had never laid a hand on her.

I marched straight into the principal's office.

Apparently, the leading bully was the only son of one of the city's most influential businessmen.

The principal advised me to let it go and know my place. So, I went directly to the kid's father and punched him in the face.

Isabella spent ages apologizing to the guy afterward. Watching her groveling attitude only made me angrier.

I demanded compensation for Olivia's medical bills. Then, I took Isabella and Olivia and walked out.

On the drive home, Isabella looked like she wanted to say something, but she hesitated.

I shot her an irritated glance. "What? Do you think I was too impulsive?"

She cleared her throat awkwardly. "No, not exactly…"

"Then don't say anything!" My tone was sharp. "Either become successful enough that your daughter never gets bullied again or let me handle it. Anything is better than all of us sitting around and doing nothing about it!"

I never expected that Isabella would actually do it.

Now, that same influential businessman had to send a pile of expensive gifts just to get a meeting with Isabella.

The Sinclair family had finally made a name for themselves in Sevelan City. Nobody dared to bully Olivia anymore.

After that incident at the preschool back then, seeing how thin and frail Olivia was, I spent my own money on nutritional supplements for her, despite Isabella still being buried in debt.

"Look how skinny you are! No wonder people pick on you. If you don't gain some weight, don't call me Dad!"

Under the watchful eye of her stand-in father, Olivia did more than just gain weight.
