          **********👻👻********

Coming out of the house by walking through the front door, Chae Joon found Shin Hye and her new friend, seated outside on the stairs.

The boy wasn't familiar, he didn't know him.

And it looked like they were having a good time.

Shin Hye had a bright smile on her face.

But none of that really concerned him.

Chae Joon was more focused on finding Hae Jin. He had to find him and make sure he was okay.

And that's exactly what he was going to do.

Chae Joon walked passed them, heading for the gate.

He didn't even realize the two pair of eyes that watched him attentively as he left.

Curious about him.

"You're really funny PJ, how come I didn't meet you sooner?" Shin Hye asked, smiling at him.

She was really having a good time.

More than when she was with Tae Jin.

Looking at Shin Hye with a smile on his face, Jay said, "Maybe because you're always more focus on something else"

Something else?

Right, Tae Jin has always been her first priority.

It has always been him.

Never looked left or right, her eyes were always on Tae Jin.

"So, will you tell me now? Why did you look so sad when you came out?" Jay asked.

Oh, he must be asking about earlier when they first met.

Hold on.........

"You noticed?" Shin Hye asked, a little surprised.

"That was another reason why I stopped to talk to you"

"Let me guess, the first reason is because you know me and the second reason is because I looked sad" Shin Hye said, smiling at him and he smiled back.

"You're wrong. First reason because you looked sad, last reason because I've always wanted to talk to you" Jay said, smiling.

Uh? What the...........

His eyes..........why did his eyes show so much happiness?

"Don't look at me like that?" Shin Hye said, looking away, blushing.

Jay saw.

Her ears were literally red.

They sold her out.

Interesting.

"And don't smile at me like that"

"Like what?" Jay teased.

"Don't tell me you don't know........ you have just a beautiful smile. No one ever told you?" Shin Hye asked as she looked at him, cheeks still red.

Shin Hye.........she really was beautiful.

She looked even more beautiful, cute with those reddened cheeks.

"I've heard it many times, but I only believe the people I care about" Jay said after he came out of his thoughts.

"..................and do you believe me?"

"I do. Why wouldn't I?"

"So you care about me?"

"I never said that" Jay said, smiling. Shin Hye looked away, a frown on her face.

"Tsk"

Cute. She was just so damn cute!!!

He's done for, for sure

"So, will you tell me now?" Jay asked.

Hesitant to share, it took Shin Hye a few seconds before she spoke out.

And Jay waited patiently for her.

"Is my boyfriend"

Oh,......... about Tae Jin, her boyfriend.

He should have known.

"He has been acting weird ever since we came back from abroad. Well,........he has always been that way while we were in the states. Anyway, the point is......... He doesn't want to tell me what's wrong and I don't know what to do"

Shin Hye said, sighing.

A sad look played on her beautiful face and Jay didn't like it but he didn't know what to do either.

"What should I do?" Shin Hye asked him, looking at him with those eyes that stated, 'Give me an answer'

*Sigh, Jay sighed in mind.

"I don't think you should ask me" He said, avoiding Shin Hye's burning gaze.

"Huh?" She asked, confused.

"I might not give you a good advice"

"Why not?" Shin Hye asked, curious to know the answer.

"Don't tell me you haven't realize it yet?" Jay asked in all seriousness as he looked at Shin Hye.

Gosh! That serious look on his face.......she.....she can't breathe!!! And her stupid heart wasn't helping either!!

Way to go useless heart!

*Clear throat, Shin Hye cleared her throat to find her lost voice before asking, "Realize........ Realize what?"

*Sigh, Jay sighed, feeling depressed, "See you tomorrow Shin Hye, you must be tired. Get some rest" he said as he got up.

"You haven't answered me yet!" Shin Hye yelled out as she watched him leave for his house.

"See you!!" Was Jay's last words and Shin Hye watched him.

Confused and curious to know what he was talking about.

What? What was all that about? What hasn't she realized yet?

..................'Don't tell me'.........

Well, she finally figured it all out.

"You're done for Shin Hye!!" Shin Hye yelled out as she ran her hand through her hair, frustrated.

Suddenly, that look changed, a smile coming on her lips as she stared down at nothing.

"You're really done for" was her last words.

              ***********👻👻*********

"You know, we were supposed to move in together, but for some reason, Chae Joon didn't want to. We even got into a fight over it and then part ways. That's why I came here alone" Se Jong said, changing the topic.

Tae Jin didn't want to talk about his feelings or about Hae Jin, so, there was need raising that topic.

"Well, if that didn't happen, I would have found out about you earlier" Tae Jin said as he covered himself with the blanket.

"Exactly"

*Sigh, "Chae Joon, sometimes, I just don't know what he's thinking. Sometimes I can't read him"

"Me too" Tae Jin said. The guy was definitely hiding something from them but he just couldn't figure out what and why.

"When did you two meet? When did you start seeing ghosts?" Tae Jin asked after he came out of his thoughts.

Well, he was about to tell Tae Jin about it and he asked.

"I met Chae Joon when I was five. A year after my parents death"

"Same here. I met......... Hae Jin when I was five, well, almost five. Remember I started acting weird when it was almost my fifth birthday?"

"You noticed as well?" Se Jong asked, surprised.

"You told me. Don't tell me you've forgotten? You said, 'Tae Jin, you've been acting weird lately. You don't talk to us anymore. You don't spend time with us anymore'"

"That's what I said?"

"That's what you said" Tae Jin confirmed before continuing.

"He was the reason I didn't have much time to spend with you guys. I......I couldn't wait to see him every time"

"You remember a lot with him"

"I remember everything with him. The book helped as well"

"What book?"

"Turns out the five year old me wrote his times with you guys and Hae Jin. Sung Yoon as well. Reading what he wrote and remembering my times with Hae Jin, I held onto the memories"

"You know, he wrote everything in perfect details. I must say, he was a smart kid" Tae Jin said, making Se Jong smile.

"He's you and you'll still a kid"

"I'll be 18 soon"

"You'll still be a kid and anyways, you'll be 18 next year. I don't think that's coming any time soon. We're in May, remember?"

"Enough, now answer my question"

"Fine. I met Chae Joon when I was five, a year after my parents death. It was their death anniversary and I went to the cemetery with Mrs Cha"

Mrs Cha, the woman who became Se Jong's mother after his parents death.

Mrs Cha used to be a friend of his parents.

The good woman adopted him.

Not many would do that. She was really a good person and surely, she loved Se Jong a lot.

"When we were coming back, I felt someone was following us but I didn't say a word and I could see she didn't realize either. I was so scared, out of my poor mind"

"Well, is a good thing you didn't say a word"

"Tell me about it, I would have ended up in a mental hospital" Se Jong said and he burst out laugher.

"So funny" Tae Jin said through laughter.

Oh, Tae Jin laughed.

That's great.

"Chae Joon showed himself to me after a week. He also told me he was the one following us when we were on our way back from the cemetery. I was kind of surprised............ and relief as well. I was glad he was the one following us cause you know.......some ghosts are not that friendly"

"Right."

"Oh, by the way,..........I was playing in the porch when he suddenly appeared to me. I didn't know he was a ghost until he told me himself"

"Uh? Then......"

"After the accident, I started seeing ghosts"

Though he could only see their auras, Se Jong thought.

Tae Jin on the other hand, was confused.

"How come you started............" Tae Jin didn't get to complete his words when he got his answer.

"Right! Special ones can only see their chosen ghosts and since you hadn't met Chae Joon then, you had no idea of ghosts. You saw Chae Joon because he's your chosen ghost. But then,......  you gained the ability to see other ghosts after the accident. Why's that?" Tae Jin asked.

Se Jong only would have only been a special one who could only see his chosen ghost if he didn't get the ability to see other ghosts.

Then.......why did he get the ability after the accident?

And how come he came out of the accident unharmed?

"I don't know. But I now know that can happen. The contract and my soul knew about my main mission but I hadn't met Chae Joon then so I didn't know about ghosts or that I had a chosen ghost"

Right, he (Tae Jin) figured that out.

He just doesn't get why Se Jong got the ability to see other ghosts after the accident.

And..... what exactly caused the accident? No one told him, if he's right.

"After the accident, I started seeing ghosts but I didn't know they were called 'Ghosts'"

"What did you think they were?"

"Humans with some things around them. Things showing white, red, red-black and black colours"

"Oh, God! You're so funny Se Jong!!" Tae Jin said as he laughed.

Not noticing the piece of information Se Jong just gave him.

"But you know, even I didn't know until my parents told me"

Huh? Se Jong asked himself.

Tae Jin would have only mentioned his mom but that will be wrong. He would have given the wrong information.

During that time (When his parents shared about ghosts), he remembered correctly, his dad was there, and they were the perfect family he loved and wished to stay the same.

"Hold on, your parents knows about ghosts? About you as well?" Se Jong asked and he smiled.

"They can see them as well"

"Crap! That's....... that's the most shocking good news I've heard so far! Do you know? When I didn't know about you, I didn't say anything and didn't even think about telling you guys. I was so scared of losing you, our friends and your parents. You know, right now, you guys are the only family I have"

"What about your mother? Mrs Cha?"

"She as well" And he (Se Jong) didn't want to lose any of them.

"Well, there was no need to hide it. My parents would have supported you. Be there for you, do everything to make you feel safe and happy, just like they did for me when I was kid"

He would be lying if he say his father wasn't a good father to him.

When he was kid and was close to him, his dad was the best father.

He was his everything.

"You know, is so nice to hear you say parents, including your dad"

"Right"

"You should talk to him. Hear his side"

They......they were right. His mother, Se Jong, Hyun Seo and Shin Hye, they were all right.

Maybe......... maybe he should speak to his dad.

But then.........what the man did to him and his mother just won't allow him to.

He still haven't forgiven him and he couldn't do that no matter how many times he tried to.

Remembering what his mother went through......he just couldn't.

"Enough, let's talk about something else" Tae Jin said to change the topic.

*Sigh,........Tae Jin......he (Se Jong) has just a stubborn friend.

Come to think of it..........

"I wonder if your parents are special ones or just mediums. I wonder if they know about souls, contracts and missions"

"I don't think they're special ones. They've never said anything about it and I haven't seen their special ones either. Also, I don't know if they know about souls, contracts and missions. They never said a word about it. And....... being mediums.......they don't use their ability. In fact, they don't want anyone to know about their ability"

"I see. That means, their souls came into this world with the main mission of helping other ghosts and humans. They're mediums but they don't want to use their ability to help other ghosts and humans. They don't want to help their souls"

"I guess. I don't really know much about them and their ability"

He (Se Jong) wonder how their souls were holding up. They're not doing what they were supposed to do.

They're not accomplishing their mission.

Are they okay?

"If a soul who came into this world to help other ghosts isn't doing their job, what will happen to them? I mean, the soul have no special one and it's mission is to help other ghosts cross over. What will happen to them and the human who's a medium?"

"I don't know Tae Jin. We (He and Chae Joon) still don't know much about souls and missions"

"Right, then find out soon. I'm worried about my mom"

'You can do that as well' Se Jong said in mind but didn't dare say it out loud.

He would have definitely earn a glare from Tae Jin and that glare of his, scared him more than evil ghosts.

"Anyways........Was it hard? Pretending to be ordinary? Did you pretend not to see ghosts?"

Uh........this question.......

"It was hard pretending to be ordinary. Everywhere you go, you see ghosts. They're everywhere. You're talking to someone, pretending to be a normal person and then they show up. In the bathroom, restroom....you name it, they're everywhere!"

"I know" Tae Jin said with a smile.

*Sigh, "I always did my best to not to pay attention to them and sometimes it worked. The only times it didn't work was when I was with Chae Joon and other ghosts could see I was talking to a ghost. But then.......Chae Joon never allowed them to approach me. He always pushed them away, protected me" Se Jong said the last sentence, smiling.

Tae Jin watched him, a smile on his face as he said, "I'm glad to hear this"

Se Jong looked at him, smiling as he said, "True, it was hard but not that hard. And when you and Shin Hye left.........it still wasn't that hard being the real me. I had Hyun Seo and Chae Joon........even your mom by my side"

"I'm glad. I didn't have it easy. Staying over there,........no one could see ghosts and even if someone did, they didn't share. It was so damn hard! Frustrating! But.........it got better because of Clara. Because of her, as time went by, I started to smile more. She was my light"

But sometimes, it still hit him. He was the only one who could see ghosts. None of the other people around him could.

He used to miss his......Hae Jin, the only one who would understand him.

He left Hae Jin, Sung Yoon behind and back then, they were the only ones who could see ghosts, understand him, his fears.

It always got pretty hard when it was just him and his thoughts.

"Clara? Clara Newton? Who is she?"

"A good friend I always pushed away. And I only realized she was such a good friend after she left. I pushed her away so many times but she always came back. And then............that thing happened. She never came after that"

"You pushed her away after that thing happened?"

"No. When the first thing happened, she left me"

Thing again? Guess Tae Jin didn't want to share it right now.

Hold on,......... first thing?

"We never saw each other in school again. I felt so guilty,........ so sorry. And then the second thing happened"

He (Tae Jin) really didn't want to share it, right? He still used 'That thing'

"I still didn't see her around and she never came to me. After the second incident, I got sick. And the reason was my soul. Chae Joon explained it right?"

"So then,.......... there was two incidents and the last incident got you sick because your soul was sad and yearn for acceptance from Hae Jin, your chosen ghost"

"Yeah" Tae Jin confirmed.

"So then,.........the two incidents had something to do with ghosts?"

"Yes. I still believe she's angry with me. She must be so disappointed. She never called me, never came to see me until I came back and though I still have her contact, am still afraid to call her. I don't want my fears to come true. I don't want her to hate me" Tae Jin said, looking sad.

"But you'll never know unless you guys talk"

"No, I'll not call her"

Gosh! Tae Jin was still the same. He always ran away from a situation, from a problem and he never try his best to overcome his fears.

He was still the same and he had to change.

Now, he (Se Jong) was really curious to know exactly what happened between him and Clara Newton.

They.......they weren't dating right?

"Were you guys dating?"

"What?! No! We........I can say now that, we were friends. I never told her this but she always said it"

"Shin Hye knew her?"

"I think so. She saw us many times together but she never asked. I don't know what she thought"

"Okay. So............What happened between you two?"

"I don't want to talk about it now. Let's talk about something else"

Well,.......he got his answer now. Tae Jin really didn't want to talk about it.

"Okay"

"Why did you move out of your house? And why did you choose to stay close to my mother? Where you thinking of talking care of her?"

If so, he was really grateful.

"Well,.......I was taking care of your mom before I moved in close to her"

That's great.

"Thanks" Tae Jin said with a smile.

"No need, she's important to me as well. The truth is,.........I didn't choose that apartment because I thought moving in close to her will be easy when taking care of her. No"

"I and Chae Joon were looking for an apartment. And then we got the one close to your mom's. I was happy and all that, though I didn't plan that, it still happened and I was glad and happy. But then.............."

"But then what?" Tae Jin asked, looking at Se Jong.

His friend was hesitant to speak.

Why was that?

"But then?" Tae Jin asked again and this time, Se Jong answered but it wasn't what he expected to hear.

"Chae Joon knows your mother"

"Huh?" Tae Jin asked in shock.

Chae Joon.......knew his mother?
