“He tried so hard to replicate the real thing, it’s impressive…well I’m back now, and your services are no longer needed.” Myra knows this is the end of her and Pierce, seeing the girl who looks strikingly similar to her holding his arms in the hospital. No amount of hoping she can win him over, and living in a world of delusion can make the multi billionaire CEO, Pierce Blackwood hers. To him, she’s just a stand-in, after all. When Pierce’s ‘true love‘, Tami, returns, Myra knows it’s time to step away. There’s no need to humiliate herself anymore when the man she loves clearly has his attention on someone else. Determined to reclaim her dignity, Myra breaks up with Pierce, blocks his number, and decides to leave the past behind. But just when she thinks she’s free, Pierce corners her once again, unwilling to let go. “Are you done with this tantrum? Now come home with me.”
View MoreThis is my first time taking the lead role in a TV drama, and I wanted him to see I was making progress in work. I wanted him to be proud of me.
“That’s lovely.” He buttoned his shirt up. My shoulders sagged. “You said you would stop by today.” “I did?” “Pierce you promised.” My sister had school, mum was out of the question and there was no one else I wanted more to watch me on stage. “You don’t have to stay for the whole thing.” I pleaded. ”just long enough that I see you.” Pierce looked at me, conflicting emotions warring on his face. “I can’t today, Myra. I’ll come to your next one.” I smiled sadly, the sting of disappointment sinking in. “You said that last time.” “I know, just…the next one. I promise.” He swept my tousled hair back from my face and kissed me. “Have fun at your interview.” The room felt empty without his presence filling my apartment. I hugged my knees to my chest. ‘You’re being an idiot’ an incessant voice whispered in my head. It was wrong. I had learnt a long time ago that relationships were a complicated thing. Pierce, was nothing short of a dream come true for a woman like me. All he needed was time, and I loved him enough to give it to him. The voice in my head had no more arguments to make. Since I was up, I decided to get a head start on preparing for my interview. There was no point forcing myself back to bed or staying up to worry about my relationship with Pierce, I had bigger fish to fry. Pierce or no Pierce, that day was set to be one of the best day in my life AND career. * * * We waited while the host made her opening speech. She talked about the gossip and dreams for a bit while Hannah, the best manager in the world, drilled information I already knew into my skull. “Remember Myra, the minute you notice the conversation is steering towards your rumored relationship with Blackwood-“ “I push the focus back to the show, I got it.” “And you do it subtly, with an award winning smile in place.” Her brown curly hair moved with a life of its own as she spoke. “Won’t she have to win awards to know what that feels like?” Jace, a costar joked, as he fluffed his hair. I rolled my eyes. Jace liked to bug me like an annoying brother at any chance he could get. “Are you set?” a stagehand asked us. When we had given our affirmative, he ushered us up the stairs and into the light. I planted a smile on my face and waved to the hooting crowd as we made our way to Lindsay. My eyes scanned through the crowd, hoping to find a particular pair of eyes watching me. Maybe he decided to surprise me, I wished as my cast mates took various positions on Lindsay’s sofa. “Might I say you look very beautiful today Myra.” Distracting me from my futile search. I forced an easy smile on my face. “Thank you so much, Lindsay. It’s such an honor to be on your show.” Few minutes later we were bouncing off each other, building a very easy conversation. She quizzed me and the other cast members on what it felt like to be on set, the dynamics outside the filming process and the challenges we had struggled with in our roles. By the end of our one hour with Lindsay, I was positive that we would have more viewings for our soap opera by the end of the week. I was grinning from ear to ear when I met with my manager backstage. Surprisingly, her expression didn’t mirror the excitement on my face. “Did I say something wrong during the interview? I’m sure it went well.” I asked, confused. Hannah smiled like she was trying not to upset me with her next words. “Oh honey, you did great! Star of the fucking show.” “Then what’s the problem?” I opened the flask filled with berry infused iced tea and took a sip. She extended her cell phone to me, which I collected warily. “She pulled me farther away from the other actors. “Look, I know, you say there’s nothing between you and Pierce Blackwood, but in case there is, I want you to look at this away from the group.” I refused to let his name bug me, but Hannah's actions were doing nothing to soothe my now bubbling nerves. I froze with my bottle halfway to my lips when I saw the main photo and headline. It was a photo of Pierce smiling down at a small framed woman while she had her hand in his hair, and the headline read; CEO of multi-million dollar conglomerate, Pierce Blackwood, photographed with first love. My flask slipped from my hand.“Oh god.” “Oh god, oh god, oh god” I whispered in front of the mirror, hyperventilating. My skin was flush as I stared at my dress in the mirror, checking for flaws where there was none. “Oh god.” My hair was piled at the top of my hair in a mess of beautiful curls and pearl beads, it looked like it would fall off my head if I moved too fast but I had counted a lot more than twenty three pins as rhe hairdresser worked. She had also assured me it was secure when I refused to even turn my head, so did hannah, and Lily, and Bianca, but it’s not like the hair was the reason for my nerves. “All done.” Madame Camille said stepping back to admire the work of art that was on my body. She smiled, impressed at her own skills before she double clapped and the doors were open. The three women I had been thinking of earlier including Angie, filed into the room all in deep purple dresses and smaller bouquets in their hands. Heidi was holding a little basket filled with dried daisies “Oh
“Mum! I don’t like this hat,” Heidi tugged on my arm drawing my eyes from the painting I had been admiring. On her head was a muffler beanie hybrid that Angie had made her wear as soon as we entered the art gallery. “can you convince nana to let me take it off. It’s tickling my ears.” I glanced behind, where Angie was squinting at m one of the art pieces, not Pierce’s work though. She hadn’t noticed Heidi slipping away yet, and I knew she would definitely not like Heidi taking it off since the room was very cold. I gave Heidi a sympathetic look. “You know you just recovered from a cold, cut nana some slack she’s trying to keep you safe.” Heidi said something under her breath before she returned to Angie’s side, arms crossed and pouty. And I was certain that pout would stay on till Pierce joined us. I knew he was somewhere in the room talking to Gregory, his artisan friend who owns the studio and convinced him to display his art exclusively at this gallery. My patience was on it
The next several weeks were a whirlwind in our lives. From being hounded by reporters about our relationship, to the near death experience at the halloween party. Not to mention all the personal questions. It seemed being associated with the Blackwoods meant the media felt they deserved all the information about my life. I had almost sucker punched a reporter when she asked if Heidi was a charity case. A few times I would catch Pierce with a regretful look in his eyes when it got too much. But it didn’t stop him from taking me to every party he was invited to, or from holding me, kissing me. The whole incident at the parking lot was still a secret. We figured it would be best to drop the whole bomb after Tami had healed and Heidi’s school was on holidays. That way we could dip for a few days to a private beach house and leave the media to run wild. Which it did. Of course I didn’t find that out till we returned. I then spent three hours binging on story after story and of cours
My eyes drew shot and I flinched, waiting for the pain that would come with the bullet. To face death twice in one night. This time I was sure this was it for me. Several seconds past. There was no pain. I peeled my eyes open. Her arm was hanging by her side, a red stain on her shirt that was spreading fast. That wasn’t right. She looked past me, anger and shock on her face. “Leo! You son of a bitch!” She spat, blood spurting out of her lips as she stumbled back. Leo stepped forward, the barrel of his own gun pointed at her. “You’ve done enough harm Ava.” He gritted out. “I’ll kill you!” She yelled one last time, rage on her face and raised the gun again. As she fired again, a large body knocked into her wrestling her to the ground. Pierce! I thought, fear pooling in my body. Sure he was larger than her but there was a gun involved! Another gunshot sounded before Ava went silent. Pierce shot her. I took a step forward, just as he rose to his feet. “Pierce!” I cried in
“Now I want you to really think about every answer you give me. The second it feels like I’m being lied to, I will walk out of this hospital without a backward glance, are we clear?” She nodded again. “I need you to use your words Tami, no matter how much it hurts, even if you feel like dying, don’t worry, I’m here to make sure that doesn’t happen. So… I’ll try to be quick. Uhh…when was the first time you tried to hurt me, like really hurt me?” They was that bob in her throat but she said nothing. I lifted a brow, waiting. When she remained silent I pushed my seat back and rose gingerly. “Wait…please!” She rasped, “I’ll t-alk.” I sat back down. “The first time…it was on set, the…pool.” “What happened at the pool, Tami?” Her eyes darted to me pleading. I gave no sign of sympathy. “the lights went off…I changed the signs in the cave to misdirect you…trapped you… I’m sorry.” “You did that yourself? Or you had help?” “…stunt director… he helped.” I nodded thoughtfully.
When we reached the private hospital, we were directed straight to where Leo was pacing outside a room I assumed Tami was in. I felt a pang in my chest as I looked at the man who had fathered me. The grim set of his jaws, his shoulders hunched as he circled the hall. He looked like he had aged several years since the Dionet party. Pierce pressed his hand to my back drawing my attention to his face. He was staring at Leo, contempt on his face. Leo’s first words to me after ‘hello, it’s your father.’ Was ‘what is your blood type?’ I could hear his relief through the phone when I said the dreaded AB-. Then he asked that I come to the hospital to help save Tami.Pierce had decided then that he had heard enough. For Leo to call for me to save Tami when only few minutes ago, she had tried to kill me. It seemed even funnier seeing as Pierce had suggested ending her life a seconds before his call came in. When I agreed to come to the hospital, my response seemed to stun not only Pierce.
