Alpha Bladen’s POV
“You have no choice but to mate with her. You will not embarrass the family by mating with some healer’s daughter. Over my dead body!”
Those words struck like a million thunderbolts into my fur and skin.
This was it. The end of my childhood dreams of marrying my fated mate,
“But-“
“No buts or ifs, Bladen. The decision is here and your soon to be mate, Luna Viana is already here and she is in the chambers, getting ready for her wedding with you.”
“Wedding? Why do i feel like i have been set up?”
“Set up? No darling, this is just tradition. You know how marriage here in the wolf village, the heir to the blood moon pack must get married to woman from plain moon pack. Your father followed the tradition, his father followed it and crazy of you to think that you can change it.”
“So my future is already a setting stone based on traditions?”
“Yes, Bladen. I would no longer exchange words with you. Your father and his beta would help put you into the suit and scent, this wolf pack party is not just a party for you, it is your marriage day.”
She patted my head and squeezed my cheeks, leaving the room with her ling cheesy laugh that enraged me.
“I cannot belive my pup is getting married today, oh my days! They grow up so fast!”
Her voice faded into the room she entered.
This was a shocker and as much as i did not want to break Mia’s heart, i had to accept the fact that somethings are just not meant to be.
I dashed into my father’s chambers, stumbling against the obstacles in the room. They were boxes that littered the floor, boxes with with different male outfits all over the place.
“Welcome our newest groom.”
My father smiled at em, moving closer to embrace me and getting the attention of his Beta who was staring at himself in the long mirror that stood by the side of the room.
“You and mother set me up. I am very angry and filled with so mush resentment. How did you both think you can dictate my life for me?”
“Oh, poor son! Hold your horses, your parents know what is best for you. We did this for your own good, Bladen. Soon , you will understand. Whatever you do, always make sure that you remember that the family’s reputation comes first.”
“I have heard that sentence almost everyday of my life, i just felt like my time would be different. I am in love with Mia Heather not Viana.”
“Well, you are going to get married to Viana so start transferring the feelings to Viana. My Beta and I would help prepare you for the party today where your wedding would be announced.”
I gulped hard, yhis was a nightmare. I just pray that Mia was not attending the party. I cannot bear to stand her facial expression when she finds out that everything i told her since we were fifteen.
“Who is attending this party?”
I finally broke the silence within when my father adjusted my green bow tie, that complimented the white shirt that was properly tucked into my trousers.
My hair was laid down in curls, matvhing with my curly mustache.
“Everybody who is part of the Blood Moon Pack and the Moon Bound Pack. This is the party of the century.”
“Your father is right, i have other Betas coming from other Packs who insisted we prepare hotels for them to spend the night, and just incase they find a mate…after all it is mating season.”
My father’s Beta concurred with my father and my geart skipped more beats.
“That is true, i almost forgit this was mating season. Bladen once you get married to Viana, you are going to mate with her in your bedroom, fulfilling marriage rites.”
“What?”
My eyes dimmed, the green amber colour hid and my lens overpowered.
“The guests are here.”
My mom said loudly from the opened door.
The room was filled to thr brim, the party continued in the other room. Different wolves were all over the place, either eating, wining, talking, dancing or just singing along to the song playing.
Maybe there was a possibility that I won’t see Mia, was all that was in my head when Viana came close to me and grabbed my hand, her long flowing gown making heads turn and her gloved hands pinching my fur.
“Bladen? Trust you are doing good? I am going to be your new Luna. I am not as excited about it as you think. I never intended getting married to you too, but our family has traditions and we have to followed them.”
“I do not want to get married to you either, my heart belongs to someone else but we have to make this work.”
“Hey everyone!”
There was a loud strike of glass that spiked the sense of hearing of every wolf in the room.
“Welcome to the party of the century, welcome everyone to the Blood Moon Pack Territory. Today is not just for bringing wolves together but also to bring the heir and heiress of the Blood Moon Pack together, Alpha Bladen and Luna Viana.”
My hands went cold and as we stepped up the podium hand in hand, i mentally searched for Mia in the crowd.
“Is that the girl of your dreams? She is the only one crying in the crowd.”
Viana said to me and i turned my head to the beautiful girl beside the podium, her eyes were filled with tears and her lips were inside her teeth.
I gave up on the love i have for her.
I ran down from the podium to where she stood but she ran out, and i chased after her.
“Mia-please wait! I can explain.”
She stopped running and turned back, her face swollen and her eyses lookimg drained from pouring out a lot of tears.
“Explain? You promised me three years ago that we would get married. We made an oath under the full moon.”
“This is not my-“
She did not wait for me to finish talking before storming into the woods, her scent disappearing because she was no longer here.
She gave up on the love she had for me.
Mia Heather’s POVWe left the estate behind and headed toward the dormitories and the difference was immediate.Where the estate stood tall and open, the dorms pressed inward with narrower paths, stacked buildings, shared entrances buzzing with noise and life. Laundry lines stretched between windows. Laughter and shouting echoed freely.Liora’s building looked like a different world entirely.Inside, the halls were crowded, warm and alive. I had walked through polished perfection all day but here, there was a clear contrast that reflected reality.I stopped just inside the doorway, stunned."This..." I whispered.Liora watched my face carefully."...is Aetherion too," she said and for the first time since arriving, I understood exactly what that meant. Aetherion isn't just a school, it is a world on its own that reflects real world power play tangibly.Liora’s accommodation sat just beyond the eastern edge of the estate, where the polished marble paths gave way to cobbled stone and th
Mia Heather’s POVClasses ended early that day. It wasn’t announced with ceremony or relief, just a quiet dismissal from Master Eryn after a long lecture on preservation techniques."That’s enough for today. Leave," was all he said in a tone that itched colder than the frostbite I had that morning. The words barely settled before chairs scraped back and students poured out, voices rising as tension bled into laughter.By the time Liora and I stepped outside, the sun was hanging low enough to cast long shadows across the school grounds, yet the light shone sharply with a golden hue that radiated an unexpected amount of heat.It was that strange hour between obligation and rest, when the day loosened its grip but hadn’t quite let go."Three p.m," Liora muttered, glancing up at a sun dial that stood at the center of the yard. "Early dismissal usually means something went wrong somewhere.""Or someone important finally complained," I replied in amusement. She snorted. "That too."We follo
Mia Heather's POV The corridors of Aetherion stretched wide and pale beneath the early sun. Polished marble catching the light in soft gold streaks, spotless aesthetic and the perfect cut between grass and path, left me awestruck. It seemed as though filth had no place being there.Everything smelled clean and faintly floral, with an undercurrent of something medicinal. It reminded me of old healing rooms, freshly washed linen and crushed leaves between careful fingers.I adjusted the books I had in hand as I began my way towards the designated classroom.Students filled the hallways now, flowing in loose clusters, some laughing too loudly, others walking with practiced confidence as though they already belonged here. Their uniforms were tailored, bearing family sigils embroidered in fine thread of gold, silver, deep blues and greens.First years weren't getting their uniform till the end of today, forcing me to strut with my black flay skirt, blue shirt that matched with my shoes an
Mia Heather's POV A thick fog engulfed the school. It was damp, cold and swallowed everything within its embrace. Footsteps didn't echo, light barely pierced through and my own words barely got loud enough for me to hear.I searched the school intently, hoping to spot any signs of life but it was completely empty, Loren himself was nowhere to be found and he was supposed to be here.I headed for the main gates and had just gotten to the courtyard when I began hearing whispers behind me.I turned to the source of the sound, taking careful steps towards it despite my instincts forcing me otherwise.By the time I got to where it could have come from, it stopped and I found no one there."Loren? This isn't funny anymore," I muttered but no response.I took in a deep breath then turned back to the gates. With every step forward, the whispers got louder but I ignored it. By the time I stood in front of the towering steel gates, the whispers had now gotten to screams in a language I couldn'
Alpha Bladen's POVBy the time the meeting concluded, the moon was high and full, heavy with silver light that scattered across the courtyard stones.Anderson saw off our guests and dismissed the guards, leaving me alone in the lingering quiet but peace didn’t follow. Not tonight, not with my people sick, not with Ironclad growing suspicious and not with Mia’s scent still buried in my thoughts even though she was miles away.I exhaled, long and strained.Tomorrow, the council would convene and more questions would definitely come from the elders. Questions I wasn't sure I could answer yet, fortunately, I had some good news to share.Tomorrow, another pack member might fall sick but for tonight, Bloodmoon stood... Barely, but it stood and I could tell that its people slept uneasily.Wolves patrolled the borders in restless sweeps, cutting shadows through the silver-washed landscape. The moon glowed warm over the rooftops but no warmth touched the territory tonight. Every howl carried
Alpha Bladen’s POVThe Silverstone delegation arrived on horseback. In front, three wolves cloaked in a dark green mantle rode in quiet authority. In front of them was Alpha Callum, carrying a warm smile as his gaze met mine, to his right was his beta and his left was his son. Behind them were two guards in a black uniform and it was until the delegation had stopped in front of me that I noticed Callum's son carrying a young woman behind him.I tried making out her face but couldn't, she was completely covered in her mantle and had the hood cover the first half of her face.“Bladen,” he greeted warmly. He was much older than me yet his looks never faltered and with his childlike personality, one could easily mistake him for a young wolf in search of a mate."Callum, welcome," I replied, shaking his hand firmly.“This meeting wasn’t scheduled.”“It couldn’t wait,” I replied, leading them to the strategy hall where Anderson had waited and set up for the meeting.Anderson had requested
