Evan's POV
"I don't think I can tolerate that old pig anymore." Kate huffed, speaking of the maths teacher.
"He really is a pain in the ass." Ace supports Kate. Five of us were standing in the corridor busy talking among ourselves when we were interrupted by a very soft , gentle voice.
"Excuse me." My eyes fell on a brunette. She had a tall and thin frame, her brown hair let loose in waves but what was really captivating was her eyes. Her eyes were a beautiful shade of blue.
"Can you tell me the way to the office? It's my first day , so..." She trailed off looking at Avery, a hopeful smile on her face.
"And you're asking your seniors for help ? Risky, isn't it ? I may just be the biggest bully here." Ace grinned at her. I swear this guy could never stop grinning.
But the sound of her chuckle took my breath away. The large and bright smile on her face had me dazed. My lips too were stretched into a lazy stupid smile and I was literally gawking at her. The way her lips curved up into a smile, the way her hair bounced when she nodded to Ace's words, everything about her was so mesmerizing. I strangely wanted only me to make her smile like this.
"Well, I just took the risk." Her voice felt so soothing that I was tempted to hear more of her.
"I will take you to the office. " I volunteered and for the first time she looked at me. Her eyes roamed about my face . She was taking her own sweet time in checking me out. When her eyes met mine, I smirked , having caught her but instead of being embarrassed, she gave me a shy smile causing my smirk to drop.
She was so fucking beautiful!
"I'm sure only telling her the directions to the office will do. You don't have to take her there." Ace smirked at me teasingly while others looked strangely at me. I normally never really showed any interest in any girl.
I glared at Ace for his unnecessary comment. I felt her eyes go from my face to Ace's and then back at me like she was contemplating her decision.
"I think it will be nice." She smiled at me and I unknowingly smiled back.
"Did he really just smile at her ?" Ace gasped. This guy!
Shooting him a glare, I started leading her to the office. I had my hands thrusted inside my pockets, a strange nervousness settling in. Why ? I didn't know. After some seconds she decided to break the uncomfortable silence between us.
" Why did he say that? Do you not smile at any girl?" I blinked , unsure of what I should say. Now what was I supposed to say? I just shrugged, accepting the statement.
"That means you're rude." I clicked my tongue in annoyance. This definitely wasn't the impression I wanted her to have of me.
"No , Ace just said anything that came to his mind. It's not like that . I do smile at them- girl - I mean girls. Always." I frowned at myself not knowing what I was even speaking. I always smile at girls!? What am I , a clown ?
"You always smile at girls? You mean you smile at every girl you see?" I halted in my steps and turned to look at her. This was getting worse. Ace really had to screw this up for me !
"No . Not at all. I mean not always-sometimes. I mean-" Her giggle cut my rumbling off.
"Relax ! I was kidding. Your face though!" I scratched my neck , embarrassed. Why was I so damn nervous? I was eighteen crying out loud!
"Bye the way thank you for helping me uhm..." she trailed off for me to fill in once we were outside the office.
"Evan. Evan Lewis." I put my hand forward for a shake. She brought her dainty hand forward and shook my hand, flashing a large dazzling smile at me.
"Braelyn Taylor."
......................
"Evan?" Ryan's voice broke my chain of thoughts.
"Are you fine?" I hadn't realised when I had zoned him off. He looked at me in concern.
"Yeah. Absolutely." I poured the whiskey in the glass . Bringing it to my lips, I gulped it down, the liquor burning its way down my throat.
"Are you sure you want this ? Do you really want to see her ?" He looked at me with furrowed eyebrows, skeptical of my decision.
"Of course I am. And I ain't taking over a company for her. She is not that important to me." I chugged down the rest of the drink before slamming the glass on the counter.
"Sure. Whatever you say." I couldn't care less about the sarcastic tone of his words, not now at least when I was high on past memories, hurt and past betrayal.
Evan's POV We were just walking inside the school when I saw our son push another kid to the ground. "Aiden!" Brae almost shrieked before rushing towards them. She pulled him away from the boy who fled at the first chance he got. "Why did you push him?" Brae asked him, sternly. Instead of answering, Aiden kept looking at the ground before stealing a glance of her sister, Cami. In the fifth month of her pregnancy, it was learnt that we were having twins. To say we were delighted would be an understatement. Aiden and Camilla weren't identical twins but by their behaviour, no one could ever guess that they are even siblings. They were completely different from one another. I crouched down in front of a very worried looking Cami and stood up with her in my arms.
Braelyn's POV"What do you think?" Bri asked, showing me the large solitaire ring, settled on her finger through the video call. Her grin couldn't have been wider."It's beautiful." I gushed, just as excited."Of course it is beautiful. After all, it's my choice." Ryan cake into the frame and his upper body was naked."Put on some clothes, can you?" He bent forward so I could see his face more properly."Why? You find me tempting? Afraid that you won't be able to control your mind seeing me like this?" He wiggled his eyebrows suggestively and honestly, he looked ridiculous."I swear I haven't seen someone more self-obsessed than him." I said with a shake of my head.
Third Person POVEvan stood there, tapping his foot impatiently. More than impatience it was the anxious thoughts and little flashbacks that had put his mind at unease. This was the second time he had found himself standing at the altar waiting for Braelyn. He could hear the all too familiar sound of the guests murmuring. Ryan was once again standing behind him as his best man.He mentally shook away all those lingering thoughts. This time won't be the same, he decided. The little talk with Brae had given him the confidence that things were going to be right this time. Before he could ponder a little more over these, the song was heard. The whole church quieted down, anticipating the moment when the bride would step in.Brielle, Cora and the other bridesmaids walked down the aisle before it was finally Brae's turn. Sh
Evan's POV"So when do you want to go for cake tasting?" I asked, stepping out of the closet. I looked up to see her sitting on the bed, her face in her hands."Brae?" She took her time in raising her head and I was met with her tear stricken face."Why are you crying?" I wiped the tears with my thumb but that seemed to make her more emotional as fresh tears rolled escaped her eyes."Tell me what happened." I sat down on my knees in front of her and kept my hands on her thighs."I have already bought my wedding dress." She said in a quavering voice like that would make everything clear."And that's bad because?" Her eyebrows furrowed even more at this question.
Evan's POV"Mom?" My voice had an edge to it, a mixture of apprehension and defense if I were to be specific. I heard footsteps which were most likely Ryan's stopping right behind me. Brae stood up, followed my Mom."What's happening?" I looked between them while they looked at each other's faces."We were just talking. Can you leave us alone?" I stared at Brae's face for too long before refusing."No." Mom gulped before looking away. Though I had explained everything to her at the dinner, well Ryan had done most of the talking, she hadn't said a word that day. So, the idea of her and Brae alone still didn't seem much appealing to me."Evan, everything's fine." Brae said in a calm voice as I stared at her skeptically."Come on, let's go." Ryan put his hand on my shoulder."Just go." She mouthed.…………………………Braelyn's POV
Braelyn's POV"Oh my God! It is so small. It looks like an M&M." I swear this woman could shout like a fox. Her voice had everyone's eyes on us for a moment. We cast apologetic glances at them before I glared at her."Yeah, you did not just say that." I chuckled at Austin's expression before I was pulled in for a tight hug by Cora."I'm so happy for you." Her wide grin spread to one of mine as well. I looked back at Austin who looked a bit uncomfortable."I have to use the washroom. I'll be back." She got up sensing the tension in there and I appreciated that. I really needed to talk to him."Austin, I…" I again trailed off and honestly I was disappointed in myself for never having anything proper to say.
