Chapter 5: Without Permission

Sebastian’s POV

“Sebastian, can we have a word?” I followed Queen Lara who sounded upset.

She guided me to the library; the preserved papers scent hit as we entered it. Mom asked me to sit but I refused. She sighed, taking a seat before she poured a cup of tea.

“It was Len, the specialist that is working on your condition. I am sure you know him by now.” She asked and I said a brief yes.

“Well, he says your genes are…” she cleared her throat sounding uncomfortable before continuing.

“They are messed up. Though it will take more months to find the right DNA code of yours, still the condition is unfavorable.” She finished only pausing in between.

I knew she wasn’t done yet.

“This is not my wish but we cannot ignore the King’s orders, right? I am sorry but we are sending someone to bring Jonathan back.” She said and I sighed.

Even if I feel angered, she wasn’t the right person to vent it out on. She indeed was uncomfortable with the idea.

“However, I will try my best to influence your dad’s decision. Meanwhile, I really hope you can find a way to fix it. After all, you are my son too. I can’t let this happen to you.” It frustrated me all the more.

She was genuinely concerned. Still, it is not under my control. I don’t even know what’s causing it to be that way. Until the doctor can find my right DNA makeup, we cannot find treatment. Plus, my vision, it’s degraded. Nothing was working in my favor so what do she expects me to do in a mere few months?

I can’t do miracles!

The topic was sore and I wanted to leave right now. To my relief, mom dismissed me assuring she will do her best. I thanked and left as quickly as possible. Right when I was in the elevator, I spotted a silhouette there. The strong floral and raindrop scent made my head alert. It was the new girl. For some reason, I am wary of her presence. She reminds of me someone that I can’t recall. Yet, she is an unknown entity to me.

I was quick to cage her; it was involuntary action. Not that I meant to be close to her nonetheless, she gave off heat that cautioned me. When asked she didn’t say much even though she was hardly breathing. It was astonishment to how I affect her.

Surprisingly, when the elevator opened and some stupid woman cleared her throat, she ran past me. I was shocked when she pushed me. It annoyed me. Who the hell she thinks she is? I’ll make sure she learns some etiquette.

As I grumbled and walked out, the lady apologized to me on behalf of the girl. I waved a hand and walked to my room counting the steps. Regardless the counting, my mind was running with the meetings we had downstairs and later in library. This should be some kind of joke!

How could they do this to me? I was the elder heir and promised one. How can they decide to train Jonathan all of a sudden? Isn’t he too careless for the empire?

Since the young age until now, it was always me who looked after major duties and roles of the empire. I have traveled far and wide to learn more. Even now, I am taking up the management course unlike him who is in some… art school!

Last time I checked he wanted to become an actor and not the King!

The legacy was shouldered on me not him!

Fuming in anger, I walked right in my room. However, something was odd. It was as if my mind still clung to that floral smell. What the hell! My room was reeking of a feminine scent. It was unusual.

After asking for redoing the air-purifier, I was slightly confused to sense another presence. Was it just Den or there was someone else in here?

My question was soon answered when the servant came and a figure ran past him, knocking him on the way.

“Who was it?” I asked gritting my teeth and the servant replied hesitantly.

“P-princess Elma.” He answered and I grunted.

Pulling another pant, I picked up a blazer from the coat hangers and dashed outside. I could hear voices nearby. Following it, I sensed the old lady and the girl talking. She was panting and it confirmed my doubts all the more.

“Out!”

I bellowed and the old lady bent before storming off.

“Please be patient with her. It’s the King’s order.” The woman reminded me and to be honest, it only added fuel to my fire.

My dad ordered?

Why was he being like this now?

I cornered her and hoped to be able to see her. If only I could see her face then judging her intentions would have been easier. But I am sure she was here on some purpose.

“What made you enter my room without my permission?” I asked her; not touching her in any way.

My voice was sharper than intended and I heard her suck in a breath.

“Can we… talk inside the room? Others can he-ar…” She muttered and it was the most stupid plea that I heard.

“Why? Do you plan on seducing me?” I asked and she gasped loudly.

Helpless, irritation and lost… that was what I felt now.

Unable to see was a big disadvantage.

“Wh-what is seducing mean? As for earlier, I mistook it as my room.” She said meekly making me lift an eyebrow in query.

“Seriously?” She is trying to act innocent for asking me that meaning?

“Yes, Prince of Beverly. I would try my best to learn my ways around this huge palace.” She assured and for some reason I burst out laughing.

Was it so easy to fool me? She really thinks I will accept some nonsense of that sort? How naïve!

“You! I hate people like you who act innocent and are otherwise. Who in this world at this age doesn’t know what seduction is? How old are you?” I asked trying to get over with the laughter.

“I-I don’t really know what you mean.” She mumbled and I clicked my tongue in annoyance.

“Just don’t meddle with me or my life! I will find out your real intentions and then we’ll have another conversation. You better give up whatever you goal is.” I warned and left.

To add up to my frustration, she called me from behind.

“I understand there’s a lot going on with you, Price Sebastian. But, I am not lying about anything. There won’t be any harm from my end.” She said and froze me to the ground.

What the fuck!

I turned around in record time and my palms itched. For some reason there was itching under my whole skin. It was annoying and pointless giving me restlessness.

‘I understand there’s a lot going on with you, Price Sebastian.’

It vexed me to hear her sympathetic tone. So, she indeed heard everything downstairs. Huh!

“You!” I shouted under my breath.

“I asked you to stay the fuck out of my life, didn’t I? Stop giving me any sympathy for no fucking reason. Next time I wouldn’t warn before putting you in your right place. You better get it.” I threatened and left.

My head ached. I was never so hyped up about anything until today. She will pop a nerve of my head at this rate. What was she doing here by the way? I swear to god if she tries to get advantage of me or my condition, I’ll kill her.

I straight went to the bathroom to cool off some steam. The taunt of her faceless figurine saying it was eating me up from inside. For now I really hoped for an escape. A knock at the door pulled me out of my thoughts and I quickly pulled out a robe.

Tying it around my waist, I stepped outside and heard Den’s voice.

“His Royal highness, dinner is ready and waiting to be served.”

I nodded and rummaged through my walk-in to pick whatever I grabbed first. With a lot of experience, I have managed to sort my walk-in as per occasions and color. There were props to help me guide too. I have arranged each section with a button that when pressed prompt me the color and occasion. There was no way I would let any of the person here know about my short-coming.

They might take advantage of it and possibly stop treating me well. It was only the fear of me being next king that gathered the respect. I might be wrong but can’t sack. This was what we were taught in high school. With a vast empire, power and money comes natural enemies. So, I can’t ignore that.

Once dressed, I left to head to the ground floor where the King lived. I was habituated to just the three of us that I forgot about the spy. So, it was a surprise when the soft click-clack of heels sounded against the floor.

“Ah! So, the beauty is here.” I heard dad compliment and scowled inwardly.

“Oh my, she looks absolutely gorgeous.” I heard mom say and was astound.

Even she complimented her. So, maybe the lady was indeed praise-worthy. That doesn’t ignore her potential risky presence.

“Since we all are here, let’s start the dinner.” Dad announced and soon we dug into our plates; elegantly.

To keep our back straight and waiting for the King and Queen to have their meals first was challenging. I had to stress my ears to pick up the sound of moving cutleries when this happens. Even, I wait for them to announce the end of the dinner before I can get up from the table.

In between our meals, I felt eyes on me. My fingers clutched against the fork as I tried to plan ways to get her to confess. The weird feeling was strong this time when I recalled her gasps. So… attractive!

My brain buzzed to play all those moment’s inside my head. Despite that I snapped out of my unwanted desires and tried to focus on my agenda. No matter whoever was there or not, I will definitely reveal her purpose and herself.

Then I can breathe in relief. Atleast from tomorrow our school would start so I would be avoiding her for major time.

Good for me.

A smirk crossed my lips at the mere thought of silence.
