Olivia was not sure how it happened, and at that moment, it did not matter. She did not want it to stop. She had been on the couch with Nicholas as they kissed, and suddenly she was in his bedroom, on his bed, and he was standing beside her shirtless. He was still wearing the skin-tight pants that went with his prince costume, and Goddess, he was delicious.

She felt her heart rate climb as he put his knee on the edge of the bed and began to stalk toward her. The look in his eyes was primal and all lust. She ran her hand over his chest, reveling in its warmth just before their lips met. She wanted him like she had never wanted anyone.

As they kissed, she felt his hands exploring her body. Every touch sent a new wave of excitement through her. She moaned as he trailed kisses from her mouth along her jawline and down her neck. She could no longer contain herself when he reached her neck where she would be marked.

“Goddess, Nicholas,” she gasped.

A low growl rumbled in his chest as he stopped kissing her to look into her eyes. “Just wait. I haven’t even gotten started.” He kissed her lips again as she felt him unzip her costume and pull it down, exposing her breasts. He growled again as he moved down and began to suck and bite them, making her scream.

He smirked at her as he got to his knees, yanked her dress off, and discarded it on the floor. He didn’t pause as he went straight to her panties and pulled them down her legs, leaving her completely exposed to him. She could see him panting as he stood and stripped off the rest of his clothing. She fidgeted a little as she saw his enormous erection. Again, he smirked as he began to stroke himself.

“I had all kinds of things planned for us. I wanted to make it so romantic for you, but I can’t wait for this anymore.”

Olivia didn’t have time to process his words before his lips were back on hers. As she felt him against her, she no longer cared about what he had said. She wanted him, and her Alpha wanted her. She let out a gasp as he thrust into her. She felt a sharp pain between her legs because of his girth. He paused, kissing her lips deeply as he waited for her to adjust to him a little before he continued. As he pumped inside her, she felt the heat building inside her, knowing she would climax soon. When she did, she dug her nails into his back and screamed his name as her body shook. Then, almost simultaneously, she felt him release his seed in her as he growled and buried his face in her neck.

Nicholas began kissing Olivia’s neck as he moved off of her and pulled her into his side. They were both sweaty, and her long, dark-gold hair was sticking to her skin. He had to admire how beautiful she looked at that moment. Completely bare, her skin glistening and flushed from the lovemaking.

“I’m sorry. This isn’t what I had planned for our first time. Since the first day I met you, I have been planning our first date and our first time together. I wanted to do so much for you, yet this was it. I feel like I let you down,” Nicholas confessed as he cuddled her.

“Nick, you don’t need to apologize for tonight. I loved every minute of it and you,” Olivia told him as she looked at him. “This was perfect. If I had known this would happen, I would have been too freaked out to even go to the party, much less back here with you.”

“You mean that?” Nicholas asked with a smile.

“I do,” she answered, nestling her head into the crook of his arm and letting out a sigh as she dozed off.

-

Olivia woke up with a start. Her head was pounding as she squinted in the room’s bright light. She tried to get her bearings as she looked around at a place she initially did not recognize. When her eyes fell on her crumpled costume on the floor, it came back to her. She was in Alpha Nicholas’ bedroom. She had slept with her boss.

Panic ripped through her as she wrapped the bed sheet around her and looked around frantically, cursing herself for drinking as much as she did. If not for that, she would have been waking up in her own bed, ready to spend the day reviewing the pictures from the night before. But instead, she did not even know where her camera was at that moment.

“Good morning,” Nicholas said as he stepped out of the bathroom into the bedroom, where she was wrapped in the sheet on the bed. “I hate to do this to you, but I need you to go. I have pack business to take care of, and I won’t be able to focus on it if you are near me.”

“Oh, OK,” Olivia said. She felt as if his words had knocked the wind out of her. She got out of bed, hugging the sheet tightly as she picked up her costume dress from the floor. In the haze

of the alcohol, she had thought Nicholas had unzipped it, but instead, he had torn it. As a result, she wouldn’t even be able to wear it to get to her apartment three floors below.

Nicholas chuckled behind her, “Yeah, I’m sorry about that. My wolf got tired of the foreplay and wanted to get to the fun part. I’ve got a T-shirt and sweatpants you can have.”

“It’s OK. I was probably never going to wear it again anyway,” Olivia told him as he handed her the clothes he had offered. “Thank you. I’ll just get dressed in the bathroom.”

“Why so shy now? I have already seen every inch of that cute little body of yours. You can change out here.”

Olivia blinked a few times, then nodded. She laid the clothes on the bed and unwrapped the sheet. As she stood naked, she could feel his eyes on her. She dressed as quickly as she could and turned to see him leering at her as he leaned against the wall near the door. She blushed at the way he was looking at her.

“You have no idea how beautiful you are and what you do to me, do you?” Nicholas asked her as he walked to where she stood.

“You mean that?” she asked as he played with her hair, grinning at her.

“Yes. I mean that. Unfortunately, I also meant it when I said you need to go so I can work.”

“OK. I’m going,” Olivia giggled before a wave of panic hit. “Wait, where is my stuff? Where are my keys?”

“Relax. I will have someone waiting for you to unlock your apartment when you arrive. As for your things, the camera and your wings were left in the car. Everything else was left in your office. I will have someone drop all of it off to you later. And don’t worry. I will tell them you were not feeling well and had to leave the party early. That is all anyone needs to know,” Nicholas assured her.

“Thank you,” Olivia sighed.

“You’re welcome,” Nicholas said as he led her to the penthouse elevator. When it opened and she stepped in, he reached inside and pushed the button for her floor. “We will talk later.”

Nicholas watched her smiling face until the doors closed. When he heard the elevator begin its descent, he let out an explosive breath and ran both hands through his hair. He screamed as he grabbed a lamp from the nearby table and smashed it against the wall. He had been in such a hurry to bed Olivia that he had not bothered to wear protection. He paced in his living room before he shattered a vase on the floor.

“What did I do?” he screamed.

“I have the same question,” Jacob asked as he stepped out of the elevator and into his boss’s penthouse.

Nicholas scowled at his Beta and replied, “Nothing that concerns you.”

“I wish I could believe that. But I can smell that Olivia was here, and you slept with her, so don’t tell me it doesn’t concern me.”

“Who I have in my bed is not your problem.”

“Yes, it is! Goddess Nick!” Jacob yelled at him. “Did you ever stop to think about what will happen come Monday morning? When Olivia is met with all of the side-eye glances, whispers, and cold shoulders from everyone in the company, most likely you included?”

“Olivia will be fine. She’s a big girl and knew all of that when this happened,” Nicholas scoffed.

“How many drinks did you send to her at the party? Huh? How many? And then, from the empty tequila bottle over there, I would say you gave her even more to drink. Was she even conscious?”

“Yes, she was conscious. I’m not a monster. Why are you so upset anyway? Do you have a thing for her too?”

“Her older brother was my best friend when we were younger, and we are still good friends. I have known her since she was a baby and watched her grow up. She is like a little sister to me. Knowing what you did turns my stomach,” Jacob snarled.

“Tell you what, Jake. The driver dropped her camera and fairy wings off in the downstairs lobby. Why don’t you get them and take them to her? That way, you can have her tell you the same thing I have.”

Nicholas turned dismissively and walked toward the kitchen, ending the conversation.

-

Jacob was seething as he stepped back into the elevator and went to the lobby. When he arrived, the young man behind the desk smiled and promptly handed over Olivia’s things. Jacob took the stairs back up to Olivia’s floor. He needed to control his anger toward the Alpha before he talked to her. He knocked on her door and listened to the muffled steps inside. When Olivia opened the door, his heart dropped. It looked as if she had been crying, and she was keeping her head down.

“Liv?” Jacob asked as he stepped closer to her, prompting her to step back so he could enter her apartment.

Olivia did not reply as she closed the door behind him. Instead, she walked over to the couch and dropped onto it. When she looked up at Jacob, her eyes were filled with tears.

Jacob hurried to the couch and put her things on the end of it before he sat on the coffee table so he could face her easily. He took her hands and held them tightly.

“Olivia, I need you to tell me something,” Jacob told her softly.

“What?”

“Did Nicholas force himself on you?”

“No,” she answered as she shook her head. “I made a stupid drunken mistake. He didn’t force me to do anything, and I knew what was happening the entire time. I should have stopped it, but I didn’t.”

“No, Livie. Nicholas needs to act like an Alpha instead of some playboy.”

“Don’t blame him. I could have stopped him at any time, and I didn’t. I let my easy, drunken alter ego take over, and I shouldn’t have.”

“Ha! The last thing in this world you or your alter ego are is easy and drunken. I only remember you dating two guys, and with both of them, the relationships ended when they found their mates. You were even happy for them and were invited to both weddings. As for drunken, I think I can probably count on my fingers, on one hand, the number of times you have even had a buzz, much less been truly drunk,” Jacob told her, trying to make her feel better.

Olivia gave him a weak smile and said, “I know you are trying to make me feel better, but right now, I need to try to forget what happened and focus on other things. Thank you for bringing me my camera. Now I can start reviewing the photos from last night, and hopefully, I didn’t get so drunk that I screwed them all up.”

“I’m sure you didn’t. I have no doubt that you could be completely falling down drunk and still take beautiful pictures,” Jake laughed as he let go of her hands and stood. “I will get out of your hair and go back to tormenting Nicholas. Maybe I can make him see the error of his ways this time.”

“Jake, please don’t make him mad at me, and please, please, do not tell my family about this, especially Eric. He will try to challenge Nicholas, and I can’t let that happen.”

“I would never do that. Since adopting you as my little sister, part of my job is helping you hide things from the rest of the family so you don’t get in trouble. I thought you knew that,” Jake said with a wink as he left her apartment.

Olivia shook her head as she picked up her camera. She popped out the memory card and plugged it into her laptop. “Now, to see what other bad decisions I made last night.”

  • Her Dragon Protector   Chapter 13

Olivia sat in the passenger seat of her SUV as they drove to the cottage to get her things. She pulled Tyson’s coat tighter around her, taking in its warm, spicy aroma. She didn’t know whether it was the smell of his jacket or the heat of his hand holding hers, but something was helping her stay calm, and she was thankful for it. She felt his grip on her hand tighten when she took a shuddering breath. She was thinking about her family. She was afraid for them. Afraid of what Alpha Nicholas would do to them if she did not return to him. She could not understand why he was behaving the way he was. They were not mates. They both knew that. It would make sense if they had been mates who had marked each other. But to act this way after a single one-night stand was incomprehensible to her. A sense of dread washed over her when they turned onto the county road that led to the cottage. Something felt wrong. As her body tensed involuntarily, she felt Tyson squeeze her hand. They turned into

Nicholas was standing in the middle of his ransacked office. He had flipped his desk over, thrown his chair across the room, and broken everything he could get his hands on except Olivia’s pictures. The photographs hanging on his walls were untouched. Perfect, just like his little fairy who had taken them. “Nick, I’m coming in,” Jacob mind linked him from outside the door. Jacob shoved hard on the door to push it open with debris from smashed furniture against it. Then, he cautiously stepped in and closed it behind him, rendering the room soundproof again. Nicholas growled at him, “Do you know where she is yet?” “No. She didn’t tell anyone where she was going. She called her mother, but it was from a burner phone so that we couldn’t track it. So far, there is no response to the email you sent out,” Jacob told him. “They are lying,” Nick muttered, running his hands through his hair. “Everyone I have spoken to is telling the truth. They do not know where Olivia is.” “How can they

Andi, the waitress at the diner, walked up and began setting their plates in front of them. “How are you two gentlemen doing? It has been a while since you have been in to say hi.” Devon replied, “We have been good except for this one refusing to come out here every weekend so I can get my fix from your chili cheese fries.” “Tyson, you shouldn’t be so mean to him,” Andi chided as she placed Olivia’s chef salad in front of her. “Devon forgets that it is an hour’s drive to get here, and we both have jobs. He is welcome to come here without me as often as he likes,” Tyson said as he looked disapprovingly at it. “He can even bring the wife and kids if he wants.” “Fat chance of that,” Devon laughed. “I come here with you to get away from the wife and kids.” Andi chuckled, “Devon, you’re terrible. Olivia, I will bring you another cup of coffee since you didn’t get to enjoy your last one.” “Thank you, Andi,” Olivia replied as she began to load her fork with salad. “No problem, sweethe

Olivia looked the man up and down carefully before she spoke. “You’re Tyson Emery?” “I am, and I feel I should be honest with you. I’m sure you know I intended to be at the Halloween party. What you don’t know is my motive was you,” Tyson told her with a smile. “Me? Why me?” “Because Nick had been bragging about you and sending me examples of your work. I was going to find out what he was paying you and offer you twice the amount to come work for me.” Olivia was utterly gobsmacked. She had eked out a living as a photographer and was ecstatic to receive what she was paid at Dark Moon Industries. For someone she had never met to say he would pay her twice that, no matter what it was, was nearly beyond her comprehension. “Why would you do that?” she asked accusingly. “Because Nick sent me the link to your photo storage. Your photos are a reflection of your soul, and you have a beautiful soul. I was crushed when fog kept me in Chicago, but fate has intervened and brought us together

Tyson Emery was bounced out of his slumber as the car dropped into a deep pothole. He scowled at Devon, who was driving their SUV and now smirking as he kept his eyes glued to the road in front of them. “Did you aim for that one?” Tyson grumbled as he shifted in his seat. “No. I did not aim for that one or any of the others I hit. It isn’t my fault that the road is full of holes,” Devon said defensively. “That might be true, but it was your idea to come out here and relax for a while.” “Ty, you will thank me for this later. I have a feeling,” Devon told him with a grin. Tyson huffed as he tried to get comfortable in his seat again. Devon had somehow persuaded him that they should go out to a cabin in Blue Hills, Oregon, owned by Emery Technologies. The town was small and isolated, giving the two dragons a chance to shift and fly without many questions being asked. Tyson heard his phone ding with a new email as he tried to relax. He closed his eyes and ignored it. Whatever it was

  • Her Dragon Protector   Chapter 8

Alpha Nicholas Williams was pacing in his office at Dark Moon Industries. It had been a week since Olivia Cook emailed him her resignation letter, making her leave from the company effective immediately. He was livid. Nick had wanted to see her when she returned from the Thanksgiving holiday and apologize. To tell her that he had been an idiot and he couldn’t stop thinking about her or their baby. She had taken that away from him and dropped off the map. “Did you find her?” he asked Jacob as soon as he opened the office door. “No,” Jacob said cautiously as he closed the door. “I have not found her yet.” “Why not?!” Nicholas demanded as he punctuated his anger by smashing his coffee cup on the floor. “Why not?” Jacob scoffed. “Because she is smart and wants to avoid you at all costs.” “Were you able to track her phone?” “Yes, for a while. But it looks like she has switched to a burner phone and changed her number because you would not stop calling her.” “I want to explain and te
