“I know. I do, but I’m not sure if I’ll manage to sleep.” Ash takes his brother’s hand and they walk to the lift. Once they’re alone in the room, Ash tells Kai what Henrietta had said about the matebond, and he nods. “So, we should feel something of her pain, just not as much as if she had access to her phoenix.” Ash nods, laying down. The sheets still smelt of her. He starts crying, and Kai curls up with one of her pillows, inhaling her scent and closing his eyes.

It’s not long before she’s asleep and Kai nods.“I’ll head down and see what I can do to be helpful. You need to tell me if your vision changes, have any abnormal abdominal pain, or more trouble breathing. I know this was a panic attack, but it’s a worrying sign, that and your legs have swollen overnight. The only real treatment for preeclampsia is to deliver the babies.
