Aria's POV

The drive home was quiet. Mila sat beside me, occasionally glancing in my direction while working on her laptop.

“I heard about what happened today,” she said without looking up. “Don't let that woman get to you.”

“She's the last person I'm going to think about.” I watched through the windscreen.

“So what's really bothering you?”

I hesitated before answering. “It's Mr Sterling.”

Aria's POV The drive home was quiet. Mila sat beside me, occasionally glancing in my direction while working on her laptop. “I heard about what happened today,” she said without looking up. “Don't let that woman get to you.”“She's the last person I'm going to think about.” I watched through the windscreen.“So what's really bothering you?”I hesitated before answering. “It's Mr Sterling.”Her fingers stopped moving across the keyboard as she looked up. “What about him? Did he shout at you for accepting Mrs Grey's invitation?”“Not that. I haven't heard from him since last night.”“Are you worried about him?”“No.” I immediately shook my head. “Never.”“Hmmm.” Mila nodded her head.“I think he might be busy,” I added quickly. “I'm sure he'll come tonight.”“And what if he does? The both of you will start an argument again. Besides, why did you accept her invitation in the first place? According to the rumours I heard, that old woman never liked Isabella. I wonder what she will do t

Aria's POV I wanted to ask everything, but the timing wasn't right. After they had left, I looked at my wristwatch.1:30 p.m.I exhaled slowly. I stepped out of the roof and walked through the corridor. The staff hurried between departments carrying files and tablets. I slowed down my steps, watching them.I wish I was just one of them, living my normal life. THUD!I accidentally bumped into someone. “I'm sorry,” I apologised, stepping back. An elderly woman stood before me. She wore an expensive, floor-length gown covered with delicate and sparkling beads. Her silver-white hair was pulled neatly into a bun, revealing the sharp angles of her face. A pair of glasses rested low on her nose. She carried a designer handbag looped around her arm.But it was her expression that caught my attention. Her eyes travelled slowly over my face. Then her lips curled with bitter satisfaction.“I didn't have to stress myself much to find you, Isabella.”My brows drew together. “Excuse me, ma'a

Aria's POV My heart tightened painfully inside my chest.“Also, please don't see me as your CEO's wife. See me as your mentor and the head of this department.”“She hasn't changed a bit, even though she lost her memory.”"Wow! I love the new Isabella.” “She has become so much bolder and braver.” The murmurs came from every corner.I kept my expression calm, even though every word made guilt twist tighter inside me. They believed I was her. And I was standing there, accepting their admiration for a woman I wasn't.I forced a fake smile and continued through the department, greeting employees, answering questions whenever I could and doing my best to play the role Alexander expected me to play. By the time the tour was over, I was exhausted. Eventually, I returned to my office and lowered myself into the soft leather chair behind the large desk.I looked around. The office was exactly to my taste––professional and organised. I ran my fingers over the smooth armrest and let out a b

Aria's POV Jane smiled politely.“Mr Sterling has already left for a meeting. He should be back this afternoon.”For some reason, I felt happy hearing about his whereabouts. At least I will see him today. I have a lot of questions for him. She glanced at me again. “In the meantime, HR will escort you to your department.” Her eyes remained fixed on my face. She kept staring, almost studying me. I noticed it and felt uncomfortable.“Miss Jane, is there something you want to ask?” I looked directly at her eyeball.“Well...” Jane blinked nervously and looked away. “Go ahead and ask.”“I'm sorry, Mrs Sterling. I was just wondering… which department you'll be joining.” She swallowed hard. “Years ago, you worked in the IT department. I thought perhaps you'd return there… or maybe become…” her voice became smaller. “The CEO's secretary.”His secretary? I’d rather become a gatekeeper than stay close to him. “You don't have to worry, Jane. I'm not planning to take your position.”“No! T

Aria's POV We stepped inside, and my breath caught. My gaze roamed the entire place. The only thing I can say is…Wow!The company I had worked for in New York was prestigious, but compared to this… it couldn't even hold a candle to it. The air was cool, almost freezing, thanks to the central air conditioning humming softly throughout the building. The staff were moving with purpose, each person focused on their responsibilities. We walked past the reception desk, where the receptionists greeted visitors with warm professional smiles.Through the transparent glass partitions, I caught glimpses of countless departments. Some staff members typed rapidly on their computers, while others held meetings or discussed projects in low voices. A few of them laughed occasionally as they discussed their work before returning to their tasks. Each department occupied its own section, separated by thick dark glass walls and modern furnishings.“Oh! My! God!” Mila breathed beside me, slowly tur

Aria's POV “Isabella!”I heard two excited voices coming from the crowd. Two young women in stylish business attire rushed towards me, their faces glowing. Before they could reach me, two bodyguards immediately stepped in front of them. “Please step back,” one of the guards ordered firmly. The women stopped, taking a step back. One of them pressed both hands against her chest, her eyes already glistening with tears.“I… I can't believe you're really here." Her voice trembled. “I'm so happy you're safe.”The second woman smiled just as brightly. "Isabella..." she hesitated. “Do you… still remember us?"I opened my mouth to say something when another voice interrupted.“Joy!”"Lucy!" A graceful middle-age woman approached us with measured steps. She wore perfectly tailored navy pants and a white shirt with matching heels. A company identification badge clipped neatly to her blazer. Her s

Alexander's POV The four men froze, when they saw my men. They were outnumbered and outgunned. The leader looked around, his eyes wide behind his mask. He realised he had walked into a trap. One by one, the intruders let their weapons clatter onto the marble floor. My men rushed in, pinning them d

Alexander’s POV I leaned my head back against the chair, closing my eyes. Inside this room, I had spent the last four hours staring at both Isabella Grey file records, a spy who once worked for a syndicate and Aria Bennett file records, a top-tier architect from New York. The dates didn't make

Aria's POV Where did that memory come from? I remember when I grew up in the United States. I remembered my fifth birthday party with the lopsided cake; my graduation; my dad's burial; and every detail of my life in New York from the time I was a little girl until now. So why was my brain showing

  • Her Face, My Wife's Shadow    Chapter 2: The Dark Mole

Aria's POV My life in New York was simple. I worked hard day and night to become the woman I am now. I was good at my job because I believed in facts and logic. But looking at that wedding photo, logic was dead. I raised my trembling hand, trying to touch the portrait. But stop in mid-air, foldi
