Three days after the twin Alphas' Father's death, the boys were summoned to the meeting room by the elders of the pack. There were still some unresolved matters and they had to get to it.
It was midday, and the elders had been waiting for hours, but the boys were yet to show up.
“What's taking them so long?“ One of the elders murmured, checking his wristwatch. It was already past midday. They've been seated here since 9 in the morning. Surely, the twins were trying to prove how impertinent they were.
Damon noticed the growing uproar in the meeting room and ran off to go get the twins again. He got to Milan's bedroom and knocked impatiently.
He was pissed. This has to be the tenth time he came to call them for the meeting. They were being blatantly rude, and it was to his fucking detriment.
“You know it's open, Damon,“ It was Kilan's voice, drawn in a tired tone.
It wasn't a surprise that he was in his twin brother's room. Their delay to the meeting was a conspiracy between both of them, so yeah, they had to stick together, and be in the same space at the same time.
Damon turned the doorknob and walked in. Milan was perched on the edge of his bed, while Kilan was leaning against the wall. Both had sullen looks and their heads hung low in thought.
Damon cleared his throat to get their attention and waited a while till their gaze went to him.
”You can't keep the elders waiting longer than you already did. They have the right to speak to you both, and you're depriving them of it,“
Kilan puffed, his arms crossed around his chest, “Isn't there a way to postpone this? Just until we figure it all out,“
“What are you trying to figure out?”
“None of your business,“ Milan cut in coldly, and Damon had to back off.
“I don't know what else to say to the elders. I've run out of excuses and lies. You both need to get out there,“ Damon sighed, running a hand through his sandy, blonde pixie-cut hair.
Kilan glanced at Milan, and when he found him staring back, they both held each other's gaze.
“What now?” Kilan asked through the mind-link.
“I guess we have no other choice but to go out there,“ Milan concurred through the mind-link. He was the mastermind of this whole delay in attending the meeting. Kilan was just playing along, and following his leads.
After the burial of his Father three days ago, Milan still wouldn't get the girl off his mind. And when Kilan told him he was feeling the same uneasiness, they both decided there was more to what they felt than meets the eye.
Kilan was rather too angry at the girl to try to figure out why he seemed attracted to her. But Milan wasn't gonna wait any longer.
He followed her down the dungeon, got into her cage, and was determined to suppress her into telling him what spell she used on his brother and him to get them both mesmerized by her.
But more than that, he needed to know why she killed their Father. He had to know who sent her to do it, and what her motives were. She was like a mystery he was dying to unravel.
He found her lying in the corner of her cage. Her breathing came slow and shallow, and she was badly bruised. No doubt his warriors had given her the harsh treatments befitted for a murderer of an Alpha of a pack.
He didn't feel a bit of pity for her. He'll slit her throat himself if he wasn't trying to get answers from her.
All he wanted was to talk, but then he felt the pull to her again, stronger this time. It overwhelmed him and for a minute, he found himself cowering to her.
He had to leave, if he stayed any second longer, he might lose his senses completely. He ran out of the dungeon feeling miserably defeated.
And now, the elders were demanding a meeting. For sure, they're gonna sentence her to death, which she deserves. But his regret was the fact that he never really got to talk to her and sought out his messed-up mind.
She's gonna die leaving so many things unsaid, and he might just live the rest of his life tottering between his imagination and reality.
“C'mon, guys. Let's get going,“ Damon urged them, “And please, do well to apologize for your lateness when you arrive at the meeting hall,”
Milan snorted but said no words as they headed down the hallway to the meeting hall. Damon opened the door and they went in, and then he shut the door right behind them.
“We're very sorry for our lateness. We promise it won't happen again,“ Kilan offered the terse apology and gave a curt bow.
Milan did the same, and they both got seated on their respective chairs. The elders went on and on about the impending issues.
They spoke about the Twins' need to assume the position of the Alpha of the pack, but how impossible that was without a mate. They needed a mate to become Alpha.
The twins maintained a poker face but deep down, they trashed the talk. Getting a mate was the last item on their bucket list and they weren't even halfway down there yet. So the elders might as well appoint a proxy for the throne.
The elders spoke about a whole lot of things that the twins found rather boring. But soon, their interest piqued as they spoke about Rizine.
“According to our law, she has to die in the next red full moon night,“ The oldest elder declared, “That's a day from now,“
“Can we wait a few days more?“ Milan tried soliciting. He needed her dead, but not with the answers to his so many questions.
“But why? She killed our Alpha, your Father. You should be more than eager to end her cursed life,“ The second-oldest elder spat in rage.
”Yes, we do know that. But we just need to talk to her, find out why she did what she did,“ Kilan chirped in.
“That's nonsense. Our law stands strong and we must abide by it. Or we might just end up infuriating the moon Goddess,“ The oldest elder finalized and stood to his feet. The others followed suit and they left the room.
The twins were perplexed but there was nothing they could do. Just like the elders said, their laws always stand strong.
Hours ticked into a day and it was the red full moon night. Rizine was dragged to the stakes, ready to be burnt.
Her cries and pleas fell on deaf ears, and just when she was tied up and soon to be lit up, there came a deafening growl.
“Mate!“
The twins watched her from the upper balcony where they sat with the higher elders of the pack. It was the red full moon night. The moon was already up in the middle of the sky, sending red gleams down to the earth.Milan, with his fist clenched, watched the warrior approach Rizine with a stick that held fire. It didn't bother him a bit. She had to die. But then, his wolf was restless, pacing back and forth in the back of his mind.'What is it?' Milan asked his wolf, sharply. His wolf's name was Reed. He was the most ferocious beast in the werewolf kingdom.'I feel her close,' His wolf growled inside of him, shifting close to the wall of his mind and brushing his fur against it.'Feel who?' Milan asked curtly, 'Mate!!' His wolf howled through him, scaring and bringing everyone to a halt with his thunderous howl. Milan jerked, holding down his wolf from breaking free. It took him a few seconds to realize it wasn't just his wolf that howled.Kilan's wolf had done the same too. They ex
Chapter 11 Rizine glanced at the big bed in the middle of the bedroom. The room was coated in dark-brown paint giving her a dreadful feeling. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she stared at the women before her and she bit the inside of her cheeks to refrain from bawling her eyes out. "Why are you crying?" one of the women asked as they took off her clothes. She stood naked before them and they ushered her into the big bathtub filled with scented petals and rose body wash. "I wonder," the second woman added, "She should be grateful that she has been spared instead she is crying." "She's ungrateful. What do you expect from a murderer," the third woman said scornfully. Rizine felt her heart wrench in pain as she stared at them. Her voice was hoarse from screaming, "I'm not a murderer!" Yet, no one had been inclined to believe her. She couldn't blame the twins, they had after all rescued her from Aster and wanted to take care of her but looks like she was a cursed wolf. The wom
Whip! Rizine howled in pain as the whip landed on her bare butt cheeks. "Please, have mercy!" she cried. "You lost count again. Now I'm going to start afresh," Kilian said. Milan chuckled darkly as he sat down on the bed staring at Rizine, heaving and wailing in pain. You shouldn't be feeling smug, you're hurting mate. Milan rolled his eyes at his wolf. Mate hurt us first by killing our father. No, she didn't, his wolf retorted. I'm not having this conversation with you. You should be grateful that I spared her life! With those words, Milan turned off his wolf and then focused on enjoying the show. He would make sure that Rizine is in so much pain and suffering then she would confess who sent her to kill his father. Rizine stared at Kilian with teary eyes hoping he would at least let her be. "Please, I beg of you. Have mercy on me," she wailed. Kilian was having none of that as he stared at her beautiful brown orbs. He had been developing a soft spot for her but she had t
Rizine stared at the massive figure before her, her lips parted slightly from shock as she finally swallowed and seemed to recover herself. "I should have known you were behind this!" she snapped. Then she turned and fled from him to at least warn the twins who their opponent was but a strong grip around her waist stopped her movement. "You're not going to escape me that easily again," Aster sneered. Rizine shuddered as he sniffed her neck and suddenly his eyes flashed from black to their normal colors. "How dare they claim you?!" he roared angrily. Rizine whimpered when he tightened his hold around her waist, she knew her hips would bruise later. "You're hurting me, Aster," she cried. "Shut up!" he yelled at her and smacked her hard across her cheeks. Rizine fell to the floor, stars clouding her eyesight momentarily. "No, please!" she cried, raising her hands to cover her face in case he decided to hurt her more. "You are a fucking slut! Why did you seduce them for them to
Chapter 14 Rizine groaned as she opened her eyes. She felt a splitting headache hit her and she sighed trying to massage her temples but she was shocked when she realized she couldn't move her hands. Her eyes got adjusted to the darkness and she saw she was chained to the wall. She panicked and screamed out. She last remembered being knocked out on her way to inform the twins about Aster's plans. Who could have kidnapped her? She wondered. She tried to wriggle out of the chains but it had sliver coated on it and it kept burning her wrist. Just then the door was slammed open and light flooded into the dungeon where she was kept. Rizine gasped when she saw who stood before her. "Did you honestly think a small knife could kill me?" Aster asked. He walked towards her in a menacing manner and she cowered in the corner. "Please, I didn't mean to stab you I just wanted to get away," Rizine pleaded. Aster chuckled. "I'm certain you didn't because you're a weak wolf and you can't do any
Rizine stared at Aster with so much disgust and hatred evident in her eyes — not forgetting to mention that the said eyes did not only mirrored through disdain for the cruel male in front of her, but they were also sore and hollow from so much crying. Aster took advantage of her, again. Her hate for him always seemed to multiply anytime she remembered all that transpired between yesterday and today, his violence, the rape and the kidnap. What the hell is wrong with this man? Why is his head so messed up? Rizine sniffled, "Why did you take me?" "Do I hear anger in your voice, my love?" Aster asked, a sly smile playing on his lips. Rizine wanted nothing more than to swipe that stupid smile off his face and make him unable to move his lips, permanently. And that's because all those lips did were to inflict pains, all they did were to spew lies, all they did were to cause Rizine hurt. Aster stepped forward and lowered himself down to Rizine's height. She was still tied up, her
"We're going on a journey." Aster suddenly announced and Rizine looked up at him — she wished she was able to make a face to mirror her anger, the confusion she felt from hearing that statement and her overall hatred for Aster. But she was too weak. She hadn't eaten ever since she was kidnapped by Rizine, not to mention the physical and emotional abuse from him. She was too tired to move even the slightest of muscles. But that would mean she won't be able to put up a protest when Aster wanted to carry out his devious plan of going on whatever journey he had planned out. She didn't want to go. "P—please, no." Rizine begged feebly, vigor drained from her tone and her eyes were even more hollow than they were before, sleep deprived, hunger stricken and saddened. "Sadly, you don't have a say in this Rizine." Aster refuted her pleas, an evil smirk on his face. He enjoyed seeing how powerless Rizine looked, and also enjoyed being able to make decisions concerning them without her
"All of you, go now! Search for the slave, Rizine! And do not come back here until you find her." Milan dished the command to his formidable warriors. "Yes sir!" They all chorused and then they shifted into their warrior–wolf form, forming a troupe and then they ran out of the fields and into the forest to search for Rizine. Killian and Milan would've loved to go on the rescue mission with them, but they were extremely tired from searching for Rizine for the past few days and they needed rest. Yet, she still needed to be found. Even though she killed their father. The twins were still upset with her for killing their father and not only that, but setting them up too. Rizine was pure evil for that, and they were desperately fighting against the natural urge to leave her alone to die whenever she was. To atone for her sins. Regardless of the apparent disdain they haboured for her, they still knew that they had to save her by all means. She was their mate — both of th
