Chapter 10

I sat down beside my dad, feeling safe and secure as I became enveloped by his scent.

"I don't think it is wise to keep standing there like a soldier, honey. Go sit down beside your mate or on any free sofa. Make yourself comfortable; we wouldn't eat you." My mom said to Vincent as she saw that he was still standing.

He nodded and was already heading to the nearest chair before my dad decided to ruin everything. "I don't know about you, but he may just be dinner." Vincent froze momentarily; his foot was left hanging in the air as he was about to take a step forward.

It was a struggle to control my laughter when I looked at him. His eyes were darting from left to right, and beads of sweat started forming on his forehead. "Richard." My mom warned just as she chucked a pillow at his head, which he dodged effortlessly, of course. "Don't scare him into running away. He is our daughter's mate."

"It is a harmless joke, baby; I mean, it is a very obvious joke. Isn't that right, Vincent?"
