Chapter Seventeen

Ariezel

In the morning I awoke, fully dressed and ready for the day.

It was a surprise to me how quickly I had recovered over the few days that had passed. Back in my pack there was no day that I had gone without a wound or bruise. The absence of pain or aches left me feeling brighter.

I waited in my room as Alys had instructed when she came in earlier.

A man came in, lean and unassuming. I straightened as he did.

“Good morning. It's good that you're up early. I am Ambrose, and you'll be following my lead today.”

I nodded obediently. At the back of my mind, his name rang a bell. I was sure that I had heard it before.

While I went up to follow him, I remained in contemplation.

To my surprise, as the other pack members passed us, they gave a slight bow at the man.

It was too late when I realized who it was. I stopped when he did, but barely heard the words he said.

“Sorry, I didn't get that.” I said to him,

He didn't look angry, patiently repeating “I said this is where you'll be workin
