Chapter 4~ An Agreement

RAVEN

After the eerily quiet heavy snacks, I returned back to the room thinking of ways to escape this demon and his clutches.

"Ma'am,"

I turned around hearing Lara's voice and found her standing outside the door which I didn't bother to lock.

"Sir is calling you in his office. He told me to take you there."

I simply nodded at her and she started walking leading me towards my doom.

Reaching his door, Lara took her leave and I took a deep breath before knocking on the door. A faint husky voice came in and led me to open the door. There he sat in his huge chair behind that mahogany desk. Specs rested on his high bridged nose and his electrifying eyes caught mine.

"Why did you call me here?"

I asked with an eye roll. My eyes roaming around the beautiful interior of the room. Shelves full of books and a nice cozy area to read the books.

"Come and sit here."

He motioned me to sit in front of him. I didn't retort back as I want to make peace with him. Maybe he can help me out.

"Now tell me what you wanted to say."

He didn't say anything, rather passed me a file which I took with frowned eyes. As I opened the file, the letters in bold caught my eyes,

"SIX MONTHS AGREEMENT."

"What is it?"

He moved back, his leg crossed over another.

"A six month marriage agreement. And a luscious deal for you."

My frown increased.

"What rubbish are you talking about? At one moment you are telling me I'm yours and the second moment you are giving me a six month agreement. What the fuck do you want?"

He chuckled, deep down that chuckle made my heart flutter in a different way.

"Sunshine, you are surely mine but only for six months. I'm not gonna walk around with a brat hanging around my neck."

I threw a glare at him and he straightened up, his face taking that cold and distant look. What a bipolar!

"You know who you were getting married to. You were getting married into the Aragorn family."

I nodded my head, still not understanding what he wants to talk about.

"There is a tradition in the Aragorn family, Raven. When one of the sons of the Aragorn marries the daughter of a rich mob boss, he gets half of his father's property along with the reins of the darkest and shadiest business in our world."

I nodded. It isn't shocking that such traditions exist in families in our world. Rather it's pretty common. But I never heard of this tradition before.

His eyes darkened as he said the next words,

"You were to marry me, Raven. I was supposed to have whatever my good for nothing brother was getting. Your dad and my dad signed our marriage contract back when you were a toddler. But because of some misunderstanding, my dad chose my brother over me."

A wave of hurt hit my chest. What was I even feeling hurt for? I don't even know this man and now that he made it clear he doesn't love me, shouldn't I be happy then? I made a neutral face and asked,

"What do you want me to do now?"

He placed his hands on the desk and moved forward and smiled viciously,

"Nothing, just be my wife for six months. Once I get what I'm entitled to, I'll divorce you. You can live your life the way you want."

Ignoring the unknown hurt feeling, I raised my eyebrows at him,

"I'm wasting my 6 months on you, what will I get in return?"

He motioned towards the contract and I took it in my hands,

"You will have 200 million in your name, along with an assistant surgeon position in a prestigious hospital away from your dad and brother. Your protection will be on me. Your dad won't be able to marry you off when I'm here."

"Your deal is luscious Mr. Aragorn. But what's the guarantee you will stick to it?"

After I said this, he called someone immediately. And after 5 minutes, a man in black suit entered the room.

"This is Zain. My personal lawyer. From now on yours too. We will sign this contract in front of him and starting from today to next six months, he will observe everything and after six months end, he will get us the divorce. Your brother also got all his legal work done by him until he decided to be my personal lawyer. You can believe him. So do we have the deal then?"

I contemplated. This deal will give me my freedom which I always yearned for. But something didn't feel right to me. Ignoring my baseless fear, I forwarded my hand towards Ajax,

"On it."

He smirked and outstretched his hand, taking mine into a handshake. The movement gave me shivers down my spine.

"Now let's go through the contract."

We both sat down and Zain brought out his laptop.

"These are all the clauses which are needed to be fulfilled by both of us in these six months. But there is one more thing."

"What is it?"

"I'll kiss you whenever and wherever I want."

I stood up from my chair,

"What the fuck?"

He sighed,

"Calm down, Sunshine. Listen to me first."

I took my seat and narrowed my eyes at him,

"You have five minutes to explain."

"Mob bosses are known to be possessive over their wives. They don't shy away from showing their love for them. We need to carry on this act. I need to touch you or kiss you in front of others and even in private so that no one ever gets suspicious over our acting."

I gave him a blank face before opening my mouth,

"I also have some demands to make."

He gave me a appreciating smile,

"I'll continue my medical studies. And you won't touch me without my permission. We will sleep in different….."

"Noo!"

I lifted my eyebrow at his sudden denial. He clear his throat before saying,

"The walls have ears, Raven. I don't trust any of my servants except Lara. You will sleep with me in my room. I don't want anything to ruin my plan."

Selfish bastard! I whispered underneath my breath.

"Fine, we will see about that. Where do I need to sign?"

"Here!"

Zain forwarded me the papers and after reading them, I signed wherever my signature was needed. Ajax followed me and signed after me. After he was done, he stood up and forwarded his hand once again,

"Let's close the deal, Mrs. Aragorn."

"Only for six months, Mr. Aragorn."

Saying that I shook my hand with his. Our eyes never left each other's face as we sealed our deal. I was happy that my heart wouldn't be broken in any way. I have to bear with him for only 6 months.

"One more thing, Raven. You can't tell anyone about this deal. It shall be secret till the deal ends."

I nodded my head at him. Something struck my mind suddenly,

"I want to go to the hospital now."

He frowned,

"Why?"

"My friend Giselle is admitted there. I was supposed to meet her today."

"I'll take you."

What the fuck! Why would he take me?

"No need. Just send a car with me."

His face turned hard at my words,

"We are newly married, Raven. Do you expect me to send my wife alone with a car while her husband is here?"

Why does he refer to him as my husband every now and then?

"I don't want anyone to get suspicious. They need to know how possessive and loving Ajax Aragorn is towards his wife."

There he goes! The deal.

"Fine. Let's go now. I don't have a lot of time now. Already this wedding is playing with my mind. I need to start my internship the day after tomorrow."

He gave a look to Zain before picking up his car keys from his desk drawer.

"Let's go, sunshine."

I narrowed my eyes at him,

"Don't call me that."

He chuckled and walked before with me following him behind. We got into his car while he sat in the front, I decided to sit at the back,

"I'm not your driver, sunshine."

His tone was sarcastic that made me roll my eyes at him. I opened the door of the passenger seat and got inside without a word. It didn't take us more than 10 minutes to reach the hospital. When the car stopped, I attempted to open the door when his brooding voice stopped me. He got out first and rounded the car before opening the door on my side. He gave him his hand to hold and I raised my eyebrows at him,

"People are around, sunshine."

I gave him a glare and placed my hand on his. Our hands seem to fit perfectly. I don't understand why. He intertwined my hands with his and I was shocked at his antics. The people around us gave fearful gazes as we walked inside the hospital. I noticed how cold and distant Ajax looked in the public. The way he behaved like a brooding and narcissistic businessman a few moments back felt like a dream to me.

God! What did I get myself into?
