Standing outside of the massive high school in the middle of a city was not something I ever expected I would be doing in my life. I had been living in the woods, in a small log cabin with my mother, who homeschooled me, until recently. When my father showed up and declared that I was coming to live with him, I moved to a big city. When I finally climbed into bed that night I read a book for a little while before I finally fell asleep. When I woke up the following morning I dragged myself out of bed and I headed downstairs to get a coffee that I made myself, and I sat in the kitchen drinking it. Even when the breakfast staff came in to start cooking. They weren't used to seeing a member of the family there, but they were going to get used to the fact that I'm not like the others.
