Standing outside of the massive high school in the middle of a city was not something I ever expected I would be doing in my life. I had been living in the woods, in a small log cabin with my mother, who homeschooled me, until recently. “Big fucking mistake.” I growled, glaring at Skylar and her friends behind her. I reached forward and grabbed Skylar by the hair, pulling her head down as I kneed her in the face and then I elbowed her on her back and she fell to the ground. I spun around and kicked Sarah in the stomach and she flew through the air and straight through the floor to ceiling wall and landed on the pavement outside. I then looked at the third girl that was standing there, eyes really wide with shock and fear and I punched her in the throat and while she was gasping for air I kneed her in the stomach and as she bent over I punched her across the face and she fell to the ground as well. “Leo. What the fuck are you doing? Get out of here.” I yelled. “You are my fucking problem.” He yelled. “What are you talking about?” I asked. “The Alpha promised to leave this pack to me. That was before you came back into the picture. You’re his true heir and now you’re going to take it away from me.” He said, stumbling closer to me. “You are fucking drunk. Get out of my room before I kick your ass like I did to Skylar.” I yelled. “You are a gold digging bitch. You didn’t want anything to do with your father until now. Because as soon as you turn 18, you will be old enough to take over the pack.”He walked closer to the shower but I just stood there, staring him in the eyes to let him know that I was not intimidated by him. “You just showed up out of nowhere and embarrassed the hell out of me at school for what? Just to ruin my fucking life?” He growled. “No. I will be old enough to find my mate at 18. Who the fuck wants to lead a pack at the age of 18? You’re delusional.”

When I finally climbed into bed that night I read a book for a little while before I finally fell asleep. When I woke up the following morning I dragged myself out of bed and I headed downstairs to get a coffee that I made myself, and I sat in the kitchen drinking it. Even when the breakfast staff came in to start cooking. They weren't used to seeing a member of the family there, but they were going to get used to the fact that I'm not like the others. When breakfast was served I ate in silence while Sandra made small talk with dad and Leo, deliberately not talking to me which I was completely fine with. I glanced up at everyone to see if there was anyone staring at me or playing with their phones. And a lot of them had their phones out, but they didn’t look suspicious to me. Not like they were sending cryptic messages to me or anything like that. But I wouldn’t know for sure who was sending me these messages. They could be pretending that it’s not them. I wasn’t sure if it was too much of a coincidence or not and I made sure that I kept my eye on everyone that was around me. My mother had always taught me to watch my surroundings. I didn’t think I would have to do so much of it here. But I guess I needed to watch my back more than ever now. By lunch time that day I went to my locker and I put my books in it and then I headed out the front of the school. I definitely wasn’t going to the cafeteria and I wanted to go somewhere where I knew that I could be alone. And I sat at the table out the front of the school. But I wasn’t alone for long. “Ava.” Someone said from beside me.

I started looking around frantically and I heard something in the distance. Footsteps that were slowly approaching us. I got a glimpse of the gun in a man’s hand who was walking directly towards us and I started to panic. My first thought was to run off and save myself, but then I saw Wesley laying there unconscious and I knew that I couldn’t leave him. I managed to pick him up and get him onto my back very awkwardly and I started trying to run through the woods. It was harder than I thought it would be with Wesley on my back and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to make it back to our clothes and the car like this. So I decided that I needed to find somewhere to hide. I started running in different directions and even backtrailed a couple of times, running around in circles so that man couldn’t catch up with us. When I arrived at school the next day, I saw that everything was back to normal. Well, my kind of normal. Everyone was staring at me and whispering about me while they were covering their mouths and whispering to their friends so that I couldn’t hear them. I just rolled my eyes, thinking that maybe they had learnt their lesson about pissing me off, but I guess not. Or I guess they just had something else to talk about today. It seemed to be going around though. I saw Leo walking past with a few of his friends, who seemed to have grown in size overnight. He didn’t have that many friends yesterday. But he was showing them something on his phone and when he saw me he made sure that they hushed their voices. I knew that he was behind this. He was doing something to make everyone hate me again. As soon as the teacher arrived Wesley let go of me and he winked at me before he walked off to his class and I made it to my desk. During the whole lesson I was sitting there with my hood up, not looking around, although I could feel people looking at me. But I was too preoccupied by Wesley and that kiss and how he just grabbed me like that. The feel of his warm breath on my face and how soft his lips were. How gentle he was, considering how big he was, I wouldn’t have thought that werewolves would be that gentle while kissing someone. It took my breath away and now I couldn’t think of anything but what happened. I didn’t really want my first kiss to be like that, but I can’t say that I’m really disappointed. I really liked it, but it wasn’t how I imagined my first kiss would go. I tried to get it out of my head and I looked up towards the teacher and he was rattling on with stuff that just sounded like a blur to me.
