Elena’s POV“Joshua had secretly been building several safe houses and camps, training wolves for a mission—this mission. He said he wouldn’t use them until he was left with no other option.”“How long has this been going on?” I asked. “For over a decade now. It started with about a hundred wolves and now, the operation has expanded to a thousand wolves. They’re all battle-ready and they’re strong, it would take wolves with much stronger will to bring them down because I’ve seen them fight and I can assure you that it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.” She said.I shared a look with Lukan but he had an unreadable expression on his face. He didn’t say anything, he hadn’t said anything for a while now, all he was doing was listening to what we were saying, his eyes never leaving us. “What sort of wolves was he training?” I asked. “Rogue wolves. They’re all rogue wolves.” She said. Rogues were wild pack-less wolves, but there was more to them than what meets the eye, rumor had
Elena’s POVShe was starting to spill everything much to my relief. “Neither of us is going to interrupt you, so you have the room to speak and tell us the truth if you want to save your life and that of your daughter,” Lukan said. “This plan of Beta Joshua, I’m sure that he must have broken it down into bits for you and we want to hear everything he told you, don’t leave anything out—your life depends on it,” I warned. “My husband was reluctant to spill everything but I reminded him that as his mate, I would stand by him no matter what. And if he was going to make any decisions that would affect this family, I had the right to know about it, or else, I would report him to my father and he would have a lot of trouble to deal with.” I didn’t doubt that. Ella’s mother came from a very influential family here in the pack. Most people believed that the family was the third most powerful family after the Waylands’ and Beta Jude’s family, so I had no hesitation in believing that Beta J
Elena’s POVThere was no place for them to run to. Lukan’s wolves had taken over the area and subdued what was left of Beta Jude’s forces in the pack and we were in control of the pack now. I kept my eyes on Ella and her mother, not willing to move an inch because I didn’t trust anyone to look after them so I did it myself without any help, turning down all offers from various guards. “Hey,” Lukan said as he walked in. He was a bloodied mess but I knew none of the blood stains belonged to him. “You look like you had a swell time out there.” I said as he walked up to me. “You know me, Elena. It’s not everyday I get to hunt down my enemies and I couldn’t afford to let this slide.” He replied. “No one tried to stop you from getting involved in the fight?” I asked, my eyebrows raised. Naturally, I knew that Alphas weren’t allowed to get involved in battles except during dire circumstances or other scenarios similar to that but I could tell that Lukan got into it from the start unti
Elena’s POV“What the hell did you just do?” Ella screamed as blood poured down her face. “Secretly, I’ve always wanted to do that and you gave me the perfect opportunity to do so.” I laughed.Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Ella’s mother trying to make her way up to her feet. “You’re not going to get away with this, I swear on my life. And my—“ “Shut the fuck up, Ella.” I snapped and she quietened down instantly. “What the fuck did you want to say right now? That you’re going to make sure your father comes for me on your behalf to get revenge for me, is that it?” I laughed. I’ve never felt this powerful before. And it was a feeling that I thoroughly welcomed and I reveled in. “I have bad news for you, Ella. No one is coming to your aid, I can promise you that. Right now as we speak, our forces are decimating yours and it’s only a matter of time before they come here and take control of your headquarters.” I said. “I don’t believe you, Elena. No way that’s going to happen.
Elena’s POVThe fighting had been going on for over thirty minutes, my soldiers had done sufficient damage to the intruders led by Ella but it was proving not to be enough, at least, not anymore. They had secured the services of a witch and wolves were susceptible to magic and she was on a spree wreaking havoc and returning advantage to her troops. They eventually forced us away from the frontage of the building as we were fighting on the opposite end now, trying to break through their ranks. A couple of the wounded wolves hurt from the explosion were still in there and there wasn’t any way I was going to abandon them. Ella wouldn’t waste any time in taking their life as part of her revenge for her father and I couldn’t let that happen.I forced my way out of the mass of bodies huddled towards the center, moving towards the northwest corner where a couple of intruders were planning to lay an ambush just outside the heavy gates on the end, carefully silhouetted by the shadows. Elena’s POV“We can’t afford to lower our guards with Beta Joshua before he slips through our grasp once again. I will spearhead the search for Ella and the rest of her family, while you three can bring him back. Alpha Lukan can act as the general overseer and provide cover for either of us if needs it.” I said. I didn’t want to say idle, I wanted to help cover all areas effectively. I was done being surprised and I wanted us to be on the front foot this time around. “I don’t want to put you in harm’s way, Ava,” Lukan said. I already knew this was coming. He was overprotective of me and while I fancied it, this wasn’t the time or place for it. “I’m going to be the hunter this time, instead of the other way round. And to be candid, we don’t have a lot of time to haggle over this. We’re running out of time.” I said. “As much as I hate to agree with her, she’s right. We need all hands on deck and if she wants to help, we can put the right measures in place to protect her.” Jake said
