Elena’s POVThe fighting had been going on for over thirty minutes, my soldiers had done sufficient damage to the intruders led by Ella but it was proving not to be enough, at least, not anymore. They had secured the services of a witch and wolves were susceptible to magic and she was on a spree wreaking havoc and returning advantage to her troops. They eventually forced us away from the frontage of the building as we were fighting on the opposite end now, trying to break through their ranks. A couple of the wounded wolves hurt from the explosion were still in there and there wasn’t any way I was going to abandon them. Ella wouldn’t waste any time in taking their life as part of her revenge for her father and I couldn’t let that happen.I forced my way out of the mass of bodies huddled towards the center, moving towards the northwest corner where a couple of intruders were planning to lay an ambush just outside the heavy gates on the end, carefully silhouetted by the shadows. Elena’s POV“We can’t afford to lower our guards with Beta Joshua before he slips through our grasp once again. I will spearhead the search for Ella and the rest of her family, while you three can bring him back. Alpha Lukan can act as the general overseer and provide cover for either of us if needs it.” I said. I didn’t want to say idle, I wanted to help cover all areas effectively. I was done being surprised and I wanted us to be on the front foot this time around. “I don’t want to put you in harm’s way, Ava,” Lukan said. I already knew this was coming. He was overprotective of me and while I fancied it, this wasn’t the time or place for it. “I’m going to be the hunter this time, instead of the other way round. And to be candid, we don’t have a lot of time to haggle over this. We’re running out of time.” I said. “As much as I hate to agree with her, she’s right. We need all hands on deck and if she wants to help, we can put the right measures in place to protect her.” Jake said
Ava’s POVDespite Lukan’s insistence that I should give them enough time to sort out the problem with Beta Joshua before he sent out yet another search party to find out what could’ve possibly happened, it was proving difficult to sit and wait. I couldn’t sit back and wait until I knew Beta Joshua’s whereabouts and could easily take him out. If Lukan was this calm and insisting that we wait for the Wayland brothers to return, then there was something he wasn’t saying and I needed to know about it immediately. It wouldn’t be the first time he was keeping sensitive information from me to protect me. “You’re going to have to calm down at some point, Ava. This can’t be good for you or the baby.” He said. I could hear the disapproval in his voice but I didn’t care. I had more pressing issues to deal with at the moment.“They should’ve been here half an hour ago and you know this. How do you expect me to stay still when the search party who should’ve gotten the information that we need
Elena’s POVI was getting worried already. The Wayland brothers had left around an hour ago to capture Beta Joshua and his henchmen who managed to escape and bring them back to Lukan but there has been no sign of them ever since. I hated time-wasting but I couldn’t shake off the feeling that something might have gone wrong if they weren’t back by now. I paced around the floor, counting down the seconds and hoping they would come in through that door any moment from now. I couldn’t wait to have my revenge on Beta Joshua, I was thirsty for his blood, to see the light dim in his eyes and the despair on his face when he learned that I would take everything he’s ever loved and watch as I burn everything he’s ever worked for the ground before I make sure he dies a slow and painful death. The battle wasn’t over yet, Beta Joshua’s loyalists hadn’t completely given up and they were still holding on in a few places but their soldiers were falling like flies so Lukan had urged his wolves to d
Ava’s POV“Get half of the forces down there instantly, while you go and demand that I need an audience with the Wayland triplets this instant. The other half should stay here and make sure that there's no invasion from any outside pack or any internal forces either!” Lukan snapped and the guard bowed before hurrying out of the room. Lukan rushed to the wardrobe and grabbed a bag and a mobile device. “I’m coming with you, Lukan,” I said. “I’m not in the mood to argue, Ava. I’m sure you heard everything he said, I need to get going now.” Lukan said, fastening his belt. “That’s good then because I have no plans to argue about this either, so shall we?” I said. Five minutes later, we were a couple of blocks away from the dungeons and we could hear the screams coming from within. There was a battle ongoing and we were winning but that didn’t stop Lukan from being enraged about what was happening. “I need a proper explanation about what the fuck is going on,” Lukan snapped. “Look, w
Ava’s POV“What is that supposed to mean?” Jason blurted out. I heard a slight tremor in his voice. If you weren’t paying attention, you would miss it. I sighed when I heard it and if I did, Beta Joshua was sure to have heard it as well and that may prove to be a problem because as soon as he smelled blood, he would go in for the kill. I wasn’t overly worried because I was putting my truth in Lukan and his wolves who I’m sure were on high alert and the watch for any unusual activity happening in or out of the courthouse. “You wanted to hear a confession, didn’t you?” Beta Joshua laughed. “I’m about to give you a confession.” Jake held Jason’s hand to stop him from saying anything else, much to my relief. If Beta Joshua wanted to talk, he had every right to until he was done speaking. “I’m sure that everyone sitting here today is eager to hear any more confessions that you’re yet to tell us about,” Jake said. “In essence, the floor is yours and we’re looking forward to hearing eve
