Adelia's Point of View

"Del! Where are you?" A concerned Nessa called from the front door.

Footsteps rushed into the house, two pairs, which meant she had gotten Aiden as well.

"In the kitchen," I called back, feeling my lungs heave and burn with every movement of the cloth in my hands.

Every last limb I had felt numb. Tired. Drained down to the damned bone.

But Siya would be fine. Was sleeping off his little mishap in the medical room upstairs.

Most of the blood had been cleaned up from the floor. The counter was wiped down and the food he had worked on now lay on top of his discarded paper towels. All of the knives had been moved to a different drawer, in case the cunt tried to cook or cut again.

Upon closer inspection, I realized what he had tried to do. Cut a damned carrot, Julienne style. Somehow the knife must have slipped off of the carrot and with the way he had held the damned thing, it sliced him from the wrist up.

A good two-inch gash right through his damned vein.
