Chapter 134

Adelia's Point of View

I woke up to Siya's face hovering above me. His lips were parted in a large smile, showing off his straight white teeth. In one of his hands, he held a steaming cup of coffee. In the other, he had a plate of pastries doused in powdered sugar.

From looking at him now, you would never have thought he had nearly died only a couple of hours ago.

"Good morning, sunshine. How'd you sleep?" He asked, setting the plate and coffee down on the cart in front of him.

Squinting, I looked over at the windows to my left. Took in the warm light shimmering in through the sheer curtains. Not the light of later afternoon but of early morning.

"How long have I been asleep for?" I groaned, throat parched.

Siya smiled again and plucked up the coffee. Handed it to me. The sweet smell filled my nose. Jogged my brain.

"Since yesterday afternoon. It's about nine in the morning now, last I checked."

A jolt of guilt slashed through me. Dug its heels in deep and refused to let go.
