Matt POV

We had moved to the living room when Colby arrived. We were discussing the video and the contents. “What was Amelie’s response?” I ask as Colby sits. “She was scared, but I think a small part of her is curious about her parents,” Colby says. “That seems reasonable. It must be difficult to understand why her parents chose the life they did over her,” I respond concerned.

“What confuses me is that they left her behind, presumably to have a safe, stable life but turned around and used her as one of their test subjects. That seems off to me,” Colby says as I nod my head. “It does seem like a contradiction. If they were going to use her, why not take her with them?” Kate asks. “That is the confusing part,” Colby replies as he takes Kate’s hand into his. I admire the strength in their relationship and hope to have that with Amelie someday.
