Chapter 4

Since their birth, Hunter and Havoc Hargreave had made it clear to the world that they had individual characters. That their views on the world differed on almost every ground. Havoc was loud, outspoken and reckless while Hunter put thought and consideration into everything he said and did. Like light and the darkness, they contrasted each other....but one could not survive without the other.

It wasn't simply because they were twins bound by blood, but rather because they had always been there to look out for each other. In their own unique ways, they both had flaming spirits, Hunter's might have been calmer than Havoc's but that didn't make him any less untamed.

They could both jump off cliffs and ride the wind, but the only difference was that while Hunter would ensure he had a parachute on securely, Havoc would prefer to test how low he could go before fate took over.

If it came down to it, they'd be more than ready to both kill and die for each other. That was an unspoken truth that most were sure of.

It had been an entire day since Havoc told Hunter about having found his mate, and for a lack of how to approach the situation, Hunter had advised his twin to keep the information between them for the time being. If she truly was a witch then something was completely off. Shifters and witches could not mate. That was information even a young cub would be aware of. It defied the laws of nature as well as the laws of the land. And there was utterly no way anyone would approve such a thing, and not just tigers, but the entire shifter species as a whole.

" You completely severed a man's leg! " Their father, Viktor Hargreave sternly said. The three were currently in his office. Viktor sat at his desk with Hunter on one of the seats across from him, Havoc stood by the window, his attention on the countless guards standing watch outside. Shifters of countless kind, the best among their species when it came to skills.

Havoc wasn't surprised that his father had already found out what had happened, but the good thing was he only knew about the attack on the man and nothing about what had led to it, all thanks to Rex and Callum. If his father found out it had all been because of a female, he'd have questions. The kind that Havoc couldn't respond to.

" It's not like he died, " Havoc said. And how he wished he'd been able to do more than injure that bastard's leg. If he got another chance, he'd rip off both his limbs.

" What were you doing there in the first place?! You know better than anyone that shifters are not supposed to associate with those cursed beings. "

" I can assure you there was no association involved. I was just passing by and the guy picked a fight with me for absolutely no reason. "

" This is all because of those little rats you're always hanging around, "

" Ouch! Father that's seriously offensive. If they found out about this comparison they'd surely be heartbroken, " Havoc casually said.

His father had never taken a liking to either Rex or Callum. And neither the bear nor wolf respectively had ever made an attempt to get on Viktor's good side. It was why the three got along so well, they shared the same wildness and thirst for trouble. And Havoc knew for certain that the two shifters would always be there when he needed them. Despite neither being from the same species, they were brothers in oath.

" I'm certain Havoc has reflected on his actions and realized he was wrong father, " Hunter finally spoke. He had always tried to take his brother's side even though he knew there was no use. It was only a matter of time before Havoc did something else to demand their father's attention.

" I wasn't wrong, " Havoc commented and Hunter pegged him with a warning glare. There were more urgent matters to discuss. Issues that had to do with the kingdom, and if they were left unresolved, there was sure to be big trouble.

" Why don't we move on to why we're really here. The illegal trade, "

Viktor ran a hand over his face, refocusing his attention on the main issue at hand, and after a final warning glare at Havoc, he turned to Hunter.

" It's been a week, I hope you're finally planning to put a final end to it. "

" Yes father, I have the names of everyone involved. Their official dealing location is a secret dungeon beneath the old abandoned hospital. They often use deceitful means to capture their victims, most of whom are weak females and younglings from the lower class shifters. "

" Have you organized a team?"

" Of course, I put Reign in charge of that. We're set to attack, I was planning on making it tonight. We've delayed for long enough as it is. "

Havoc quietly listened from the other side of the room. Pretending to be unfocused despite all his attention being on what was being discussed. Of course, he was well aware of every last bit of information that Hunter spoke of. He looked at his watch, it was around five in the evening, so if his guess was correct, Rex and Callum were already done with what he had instructed them to do.

" Havoc! You'll go with them, " Viktor instructed him. His tone full of seriousness because he knew better than anyone how lightly his son took such trivial matters.

" Understood?"

" I did have plans for tonight but I'll try my best to reschedule them, "

" You'll go. "

" Can I rip off their limbs then? I suppose that won't be an issue in this case. "

Hunter assured his father he'd keep a keen eye on his twin. But just as he was about to stand so they could head out and plan their mission, he got a call. It was Reign. He picked up and waited for his closest ally to talk, but when he did, Hunter's expression changed.

" What?" he asked into the phone. Making both his father and brother turn to him in both confusion and worry. And immediately after he cut the call, he turned to his father with that same bothered look.

" What's wrong? "

Hunter wasn't sure 'wrong' was the right term to use. It was technically good news, but that depended on how one viewed it.

" That was Reign, apparently he just received Intel that the entire illegal trade was disrupted and shut down. When he went to confirm, he found all the perpetrators dead and the victims were safely locked away. "

" And you don't know who was behind it?"

" Not yet, they're trying to figure that out. "

What disturbed Hunter wasn't that someone had gone ahead and did his work for him, it was the fact that it wasn't the first time such an incident had occurred, and he was yet to find out who was behind it.

" Good, guess I won't have to reschedule my plans after all, " Havoc said with a subtle smile on his features. His brown eyes flicking over his brother's green ones for a second before he looked away. After wishing the two a good evening, he headed towards the exit. Now that that issue was taken care of, he had another to sort.

He wouldn't let that day come to an end before he found his mate.
