I thoroughly enjoyed myself and had a blast for a full week, and it wasn't until I chanced upon a video on my social media feed that I finally learned that Montville, where Randell and I had planned the trip to, had had many days of heavy, torrential rains.

I even saw a video of the hotel that I stayed at days ago that had been submerged underwater due to its low geographical location.

Another video went viral too, and it showed a few rescuers trying to save the people trapped in the hotel before being washed away by the floods.

I was just feeling sorry for the people involved and lamenting the unpredictability of life when I noticed that a few of my old classmates had sent me a number of text messages.

"Cassidy? I heard that you were vacationing in Montville and that there's a flood there. Are you okay?"
