Chapter 18 "His Warning"

Maxine’s knees weakened and she fell down on the floor as soon as Vincent and Chandler left her alone.

She was so damn scared that the strength completely fell off once the went gone.

“I made another trouble again, argh,” Maxine murmured.

She still doesn’t know who the man whom she mistook as Peter but one thing is sure.

‘He seems like someone who will never forget my mistake.’

Thinking that, she felt something heavy straggling around her throat. She couldn’t breath. It is the anxiety of guilt and regret.

Without much strenght, Maxine stayed sitting on the floor until she heard the creaking sound of the opening door.

Bit by bit, she turned her head. Behind her, there stood two men peeking at her from the entrance. They stared at her with two pairs or rounded eyes.

“Oh? What are you doing on the floor?” Brett asked, tilting his head in wonder.

When Maxine’s eyes met Adam’s confused gaze, she felt the heat rising on her cheeks.
