Alexa

“She’s my date”

My heart literally jumps when his hands wraps around my fnger, and pulls me away from behind Ethan. But it does calm everyone down and diverts their attention as he pulls me away from the crowd to the exit.

I got my wish answered but at what cost?

Because Ethan’s eyes is burning my back, I can feel it as we make it through the entrance, hands interlocked with a stranger I've barely known for an hour.

“Are you okay?” Will asks, though I nod, I certainly am not, I am drenched, my plan is ruined, above all, I've lost my face before the people I badly want to get revenge on.

“Do you want to come with me? To clear your head?”

I shake my head, after all I barely knew him, he wasn’t even among the the list of people in the file I had studied.

“I’ll wait here for my Boss.”

“The same boss who let you get harrassed like that? If you ask for my opinion, no one there wants you around, their hate is so visibe, it’s dangerouns working with the Bouchards too,”

Ethan doesn’t hate me. I wanted to correct him, but how sure am I about that?

“You don’t need to worry-”

“Then I will stay here with you till your Boss comes,it’s dangerous for a beautiful woman like you to be out at night.”

“Thanks” I mutter, hoping the talk will die, but he kicks off another topic, one I don't expect.

“I don’t believe he killed himself, your Dad I mean.”

Everything freezes, not trusting if I heard that right.

“I know the Bouchards and they are nothing but corny ass blood sucers to get rmore wealthy”

“What do you mean, I finally turn to him.”

“Come with me, I want to show you something.” He says as he gets to his feet. I shouldn’t trust him, I barely know who he is, but this is the first time someone has ever thought the same way about my father’s death, not even my mother has ever said that. What if he knows something I don’t, what if he knows the killer?

Will took me past the event hall, the rest place is filled with tall trees, with dim light, and it feels lowkey creepy.

“Where are you taking me?”

“The cottage.”

It didn't seem like there's a cottage here, from the hall front, but what does this have to do with my father’s death?

“I think I’ll just go back and wait from my Boss.” I halt. This just doesn't feel right, it feels as though I’m walking straight into to the lion’s den.

“Your father was accused of raping the first lady, kept locked in the mansion basement for three nights by Mr. Bouchard. I know he didn’t do it, he was seduced, and almost forced by the first lady because she had ill interest, don’t you want to find out more? Don’t you want to find our father’s kiiler” He says just when I'm about to turn and return to the hall.

I whip around, my pulse hammering. My throat goes dry, and my fingers tightens it’s hold on the fabric of my dress.

He’s saying the same thing as to what I discovered from my father’s final letter, tainted with his tears. The same letter that appeared in our mailbox mysteriously.

“Are you the one who sent the letter?” I ask as I take a step closer, there's a shift in his expression that I just can't not miss, but he returns his exprrssion and nods with a smile.

“Yes, I am”

I halt in my steps, something isn’t right. In the letter father hid in the mansion for three days, he never said he was locked up, so why are his words different from my father?

“I’m sorry, maybe we can discuss this another time?” I feign a smile, trying to play it cool like my insides aren't shaking, but then, he slides out a knife, so swift, I can't even place where it came from.

“I’m sorry hon, but they paid a huge sum, I can’t leave here without making sure you’re gone.” The soft voice was gone, he now sounded heartless.

I swallow, taking a step back and slowly lifting my dress, my heart is beating drums and shit, how am I supposed to run in heels? But if I don’t he’s going to kill me.

“Who sent you to do this?” I question with my voice trembling.

“The same person who ordered the death of your father.” He shrugs, there is no humanity in his eyes and without another word I turn and begin to sprint.

“You can't run from death, beautiful.” His voice echoes from behind.

The run has just began, the hall is still far, but my lungs is beginning to burn. The world narrows to the hall at the the distance.

“Help!” I yell with a crooked voice, though I know no miracle can make them hear me, still I don't stop.

But then, my body betrays me, and I fall to the ground, my head hitting a lying thick wood. All I can hear are echoing sounds in my head, my vision blurs as I stare at the sky.

“Dad, please, I don’t want to die, not now…please, help me.”

“Don’t worry, I will send my condolence to your mother.” Will is back, his face blocking my view from the sky as he towers above me, I can’t believe this is how I’m going to die.

“I’ll have you have one last secret before you die. The letter, I didn’t send it, your Boss did, and the one you could killed your father-”

Ethan?

Ethan The annoyance that was initially sparking when I came down the stairs and found Alexa being escorted out like some prisoner. I could only picture so many ways she had gotten here. It was a distance, which meant she exited the house not too long before I left. And she must have walked a distance before she could get a cab. I badly wanted to scold her, but I couldn’t do that before other eyes, and then there was Chloe. I can’t believe she can’t fucking take my words. There were no longer any signs that I wanted nothing to do with her, but she just can’t take no for an answer. I relished the moment when Alexa came back at her. Slapping her down, so she is the one standing up high. That replaced my annoyance with pride, the kind of pride that made my shoulder high and made me want to pin her down and watch her try to exert dominance on me. Fuck, even as she took my hand, my skin burned, needing her so bad. “I’m sorry.” Those words flew past as I shut the door behind her and cage

  • Hidden Vengeance    The Hand that Holds Power

Alexa “Show yourself before I call security.” Chloe’s voice echoed through the office. But she didn’t make a move. I was grateful she had yet to turn on the light, but there was no way I could hide. She knew someone was there, and if I tried to run, I would look more suspicious. Which is why I slowly stood up, lifting my hands up. Just then the lights came on. And even with my cap covering a bit of my eyes, I could still see the disdain in her eyes. “You.” She pointed. “I-” “I fucking knew you were here on a mission. Ethan is going to have you chased out finally.” She was excited; her disdain had turned into excitement as she turned and smashed the security button with her hands. I stood still because it was impossible to stop her, and it was impossible to run in my state. I couldn’t tell what the worst could happen; yes, I may seem suspicious right here, but I didn’t sneak in either. But this attention will certainly expose my presence to Ethan. The securities bursted through

  • Hidden Vengeance    Election Day

Alexa “I’ve set the table; do you need help with something else? Do you need me to come in?” “No, Mom, I’m fine, we-I’ll be with you shortly,” I announced before she could walk into her daughter’s leg, spread out with a man who sponsored my education between them. Ethan was up in that minute, adjusting his trousers. And I did feel guilty for leaving him with blue balls, but now that my eyes are clear, I wonder how the fuck we are going to act around each other now. Because it is glaring that there is more than boss and personal assistant between us. “Do you need me-” “No, I’ll be out soon.” I cut in without looking at him. At least he didn’t try to push this time; he walked out of the room. “Alexa, what the hell did you just do?” I struggled up, wincing every time I tried to get myself cleaned. Eventually, I wrapped up and joined them for dinner. Mum stood, perhaps to assist me in walking or pushing the chair out for me, but she didn’t get to finish that because Ethan beat her t

  • Hidden Vengeance    Pleasure

Alexa In the blink of an eye, Ethan was right on top of me. His eyes stared hungrily at me, ready to eat me whole. My heart was beating drums; if there was any time to stop this, it was the best time. But my body ached for him, as he slid his finger across my collarbone, dragging my tiny sleeves down my arms. I shivered and bit down on my lower lip, waiting for more, my eyes never leaving his. I watched how his eyes dropped to my lips and back up to my eyes. It felt like he was hesitating nd it was slowly turning the moment into some cold scene. So I tried to get out of his hold, but in that moment, he pulled me by my neck and ravaged my lips, not even giving me time to think. I tried to catch up with his pace, but he wasn’t even giving me time to adjust; his tongue slid, making my mouth full that I could barely moan out. I felt choked up, but it made my toes curl. The way he was giving me no time to think, no time to breathe. He was seizing me as a whole, hands roaming around my b

  • Hidden Vengeance    Quiet But Not Cold

AlexaFinally, it was time for me to leave this damn hospital, and of course Ethan was taking me out; he had been dodging my questions, like what’s the status of the plan, what’s going on in the company? Jeffery’s dinner party. He dodged them all, and now we were heading out of town. Which meant we were not heading to the mansion. I was tired of asking questions and not getting any answers, so I just let him do what he wanted, and then we were before a common Canadian housing in an undeveloped street. No guards behind us; it was just us, and Ethan now picked my hospital bag up and then opened the door up for me. I was still seated because it was so damn confusing. What are we doing here? “Do you need me to lift you?” I stepped out of the car immediately. Wincing a little when I tried straightening up. “Take it slow,” Ethan said to me slowly. The door was unlocked, and he simply pushed the door handle, setting himself aside for me to walk in at the same time the familiar figure rus

  • Hidden Vengeance    An Ex on The Terrace

AlexaI insisted on walking today; the pain had reduced, and I had been in a space for too long. The minute I was out of my room, I met the person I least expected. “We need to talk.” Mr. Bouchard gestured at me to walk into my room with me. But I would be the most foolish to be alone with a man who tried to harass me when I was a child and has a lot of crimes hidden under his desk. “Ethan is not here.” He cocked a brow. “I only have business with your son. If you wish to speak to me about him, I’m currently not fit to take notes of your discussion and forward it to him.” He scoffed with obvious disbelief. “You’ve got some nerve, huh? I guess you have truly bewitched my son to turn his back on me, on his own father. You think you would get onto a ladder of wealth; that is the reason you convinced him to kick me out of my own company. Are you not fit, huh? The next time I will make you be in a casket.” He hissed and turned to walk away, with his guards walking out. His words we
