“She’s my date”
My heart literally jumps when his hands wraps around my fnger, and pulls me away from behind Ethan. But it does calm everyone down and diverts their attention as he pulls me away from the crowd to the exit.
I got my wish answered but at what cost?
Because Ethan’s eyes is burning my back, I can feel it as we make it through the entrance, hands interlocked with a stranger I've barely known for an hour.
“Are you okay?” Will asks, though I nod, I certainly am not, I am drenched, my plan is ruined, above all, I've lost my face before the people I badly want to get revenge on.
“Do you want to come with me? To clear your head?”
I shake my head, after all I barely knew him, he wasn’t even among the the list of people in the file I had studied.
“I’ll wait here for my Boss.”
“The same boss who let you get harrassed like that? If you ask for my opinion, no one there wants you around, their hate is so visibe, it’s dangerouns working with the Bouchards too,”
Ethan doesn’t hate me. I wanted to correct him, but how sure am I about that?
“You don’t need to worry-”
“Then I will stay here with you till your Boss comes,it’s dangerous for a beautiful woman like you to be out at night.”
“Thanks” I mutter, hoping the talk will die, but he kicks off another topic, one I don't expect.
“I don’t believe he killed himself, your Dad I mean.”
Everything freezes, not trusting if I heard that right.
“I know the Bouchards and they are nothing but corny ass blood sucers to get rmore wealthy”
“What do you mean, I finally turn to him.”
“Come with me, I want to show you something.” He says as he gets to his feet. I shouldn’t trust him, I barely know who he is, but this is the first time someone has ever thought the same way about my father’s death, not even my mother has ever said that. What if he knows something I don’t, what if he knows the killer?
Will took me past the event hall, the rest place is filled with tall trees, with dim light, and it feels lowkey creepy.
“Where are you taking me?”
“The cottage.”
It didn't seem like there's a cottage here, from the hall front, but what does this have to do with my father’s death?
“I think I’ll just go back and wait from my Boss.” I halt. This just doesn't feel right, it feels as though I’m walking straight into to the lion’s den.
“Your father was accused of raping the first lady, kept locked in the mansion basement for three nights by Mr. Bouchard. I know he didn’t do it, he was seduced, and almost forced by the first lady because she had ill interest, don’t you want to find out more? Don’t you want to find our father’s kiiler” He says just when I'm about to turn and return to the hall.
I whip around, my pulse hammering. My throat goes dry, and my fingers tightens it’s hold on the fabric of my dress.
He’s saying the same thing as to what I discovered from my father’s final letter, tainted with his tears. The same letter that appeared in our mailbox mysteriously.
“Are you the one who sent the letter?” I ask as I take a step closer, there's a shift in his expression that I just can't not miss, but he returns his exprrssion and nods with a smile.
“Yes, I am”
I halt in my steps, something isn’t right. In the letter father hid in the mansion for three days, he never said he was locked up, so why are his words different from my father?
“I’m sorry, maybe we can discuss this another time?” I feign a smile, trying to play it cool like my insides aren't shaking, but then, he slides out a knife, so swift, I can't even place where it came from.
“I’m sorry hon, but they paid a huge sum, I can’t leave here without making sure you’re gone.” The soft voice was gone, he now sounded heartless.
I swallow, taking a step back and slowly lifting my dress, my heart is beating drums and shit, how am I supposed to run in heels? But if I don’t he’s going to kill me.
“Who sent you to do this?” I question with my voice trembling.
“The same person who ordered the death of your father.” He shrugs, there is no humanity in his eyes and without another word I turn and begin to sprint.
“You can't run from death, beautiful.” His voice echoes from behind.
The run has just began, the hall is still far, but my lungs is beginning to burn. The world narrows to the hall at the the distance.
“Help!” I yell with a crooked voice, though I know no miracle can make them hear me, still I don't stop.
But then, my body betrays me, and I fall to the ground, my head hitting a lying thick wood. All I can hear are echoing sounds in my head, my vision blurs as I stare at the sky.
“Dad, please, I don’t want to die, not now…please, help me.”
“Don’t worry, I will send my condolence to your mother.” Will is back, his face blocking my view from the sky as he towers above me, I can’t believe this is how I’m going to die.
“I’ll have you have one last secret before you die. The letter, I didn’t send it, your Boss did, and the one you could killed your father-”
Ethan?
AlexaFinally, it was time for me to leave this damn hospital, and of course Ethan was taking me out; he had been dodging my questions, like what’s the status of the plan, what’s going on in the company? Jeffery’s dinner party. He dodged them all, and now we were heading out of town. Which meant we were not heading to the mansion. I was tired of asking questions and not getting any answers, so I just let him do what he wanted, and then we were before a common Canadian housing in an undeveloped street. No guards behind us; it was just us, and Ethan now picked my hospital bag up and then opened the door up for me. I was still seated because it was so damn confusing. What are we doing here? “Do you need me to lift you?” I stepped out of the car immediately. Wincing a little when I tried straightening up. “Take it slow,” Ethan said to me slowly. The door was unlocked, and he simply pushed the door handle, setting himself aside for me to walk in at the same time the familiar figure rus
AlexaI insisted on walking today; the pain had reduced, and I had been in a space for too long. The minute I was out of my room, I met the person I least expected. “We need to talk.” Mr. Bouchard gestured at me to walk into my room with me. But I would be the most foolish to be alone with a man who tried to harass me when I was a child and has a lot of crimes hidden under his desk. “Ethan is not here.” He cocked a brow. “I only have business with your son. If you wish to speak to me about him, I’m currently not fit to take notes of your discussion and forward it to him.” He scoffed with obvious disbelief. “You’ve got some nerve, huh? I guess you have truly bewitched my son to turn his back on me, on his own father. You think you would get onto a ladder of wealth; that is the reason you convinced him to kick me out of my own company. Are you not fit, huh? The next time I will make you be in a casket.” He hissed and turned to walk away, with his guards walking out. His words we
Ethan The door burst open before the words came out of my mouth, and our attention went to the familiar figure that walked in with a rose bouquet in his hand. Fucking bastard. “I’m sorry for coming late.” Jeffery Thomson stated as he walked in, barely sparing me a glance. Watching him approach Alexa sparked something within. Besides, he was one of the major reasons we faced that accident, yet he approached Alexa with a soft look to what…trying to win her over. Alexa even tried to shake her head in disagreement; I could see the gladness in her face. Something she couldn’t even show to me when she awakened. Yeah, I wanted to confess my feelings to her, but now I feel fucking stupid- so stupid that all I wanted to do was walk out and let them enjoy their company since I might not be in her opinion. But something was still keeping me, a major part of me that believed we shared the same feeling, and I was just being jealous. “It’s my fault.” “Yes, it is.” I agreed to Jeffery’s statem
AlexaAside from my mother, I could never take a bullet for anyone. I was certain about that, certain about loving my life when I tried countless times to take it. I could barely cut myself even, but when the covered man behind pulled out his gun and pointed at Ethan, I lost all fear. Damn, was I even thinking? But even with this pain shooting through my abdomen, my head banging, and my vision blurring, I knew if I was to be placed in the same position again, I would take a bullet for Ethan. Another gunshot sounded; I'm not sure that was directed at me; it certainly wasn’t directed at Ethan because Ethan was above me the next second. “Call the hospital, now!” His yelling passed through my blurred hearing; everything was slowly dying down, aside from his heavy breathing and his pleading for me not to shut my eyes. I badly wanted to, though; I needed to rest, just for a few seconds, for the pain to stop, but wet fluid kept dropping right on my face. It couldn’t be rain; I could feel
EthanI pulled out my gun from under the car seat, registering Alexa’s flight at the same time. She would need to get stronger than this; being by my side gives her lots of chances to get hurt. Just as I predicted, they were fully covered, with just their eyes left out, all stepped out from the bush on either side of the road. She was full on trying to catch her breath. “Stay in here, Jude. Keep the doors locked, don’t let her out regardless of what happens outside.” Jude nodded immediately, and I was set to step out of the car when she gripped the hem of my shirt. “There are too many; we can’t fight them.” She muttered, fright clearly written on her face. I wanted to assure her that everything would be fine, but even I wasn’t sure about that. I need to return safely with her; I need to find out who is after me. “We can’t run either, Alexa; we need to find the one behind this. So just stay in. It would be hard to protect you if you are exposed. I’m certainly their target-” I mean,
Alexa I honestly expected Jeffery Thomson to be the exact same with Ethan; I mean, they are competitors, and last I checked, he had the same demeanor with Ethan during the meeting. Either way, I am enjoying his activeness, until Ethan came to spoil it all. “I don’t see any engagement ring though.” Jeffery throws a gaze at Ethan before I can retort back at him. He rolled his eyes. “Are we not going straight to the point, or do you want to beat around the bush all day, wasting my time?” “Well, Mr. Bouchard, you won’t have come to me if you were not expecting something also. I’m sure you would have had me squeezing through your tight schedule, so yeah, I won’t beat around the bush.” Jeffery takes a seat next to me. “Apologies once again for calling you to meet me; however, I would like to discuss this profound beneficial relationship now that I am the leader of the parliament. You can state your clause, conditions, and needs.” “Is this the reason you called me here, Jeffery Thomson
Alexa The same balcony that father had fallen from ten years ago loomed over me. The same spot where they had claimed my father took his life. I can still picture his bloody, lifeless body on the compound waterfall that’s mounted below. It causes nausea to crawl up my throat. “You ungrateful bra
Ethan It was honestly the worst feeling I had ever felt in a long time, and when I mean in a long time, I mean since Aleander Côté, Alexa’s dad, died. Why are all strong emotions tied to Alexa? It’s crazy because I never thought I would be attracted to her. One minute, I saw her like a little sis
Ethan Something is wrong“Where are you going to, Ethan!” I ignore Chloe and get down the car. “Take her home, don’t let her out of the car till you are back at the house.” I order the driver, before walking back to the hall, except this time, I don't gett inside the hall, instead I pull out my p
Alexa My heart drops as Chloe walks in. All attention are on her, everyone gasping as she catwalks her way in with guards behind and her father-Ben Martin beside her. The same people that were awed by her, frowned as they turn to me, their eyes all laying their disgust. I'm not sure everyone her
