Chapter 5

"You wish!" I pushed his hand away.

If only Thalia wasn't sick, I wouldn't stoop so low for his money. But my daughter has a heart problem, and we need a lot of money for her operation.

"Don't bother denying it. I know what you really want."

"What?" My eyebrows furrowed at the tone of his voice.

"Money." He gave me an annoying smile. "And maybe you're just using your daughter as an excuse to get close to me."

I felt my blood rush to my head because of what he said. "You know what? You really are a trash! I guess the saying was true, even if you wrap your body in gold, the stench of your true character will always be there!" I pushed him hard before leaving his office.

After I left the company building, I immediately ride a taxi. But before it could even drove away, I received a call from Wena.

"Tanya, where are you? I've been calling you!"

My brows met when I noticed the worries in her voice. "My phone is on silent. Why, Wena? D-did something happen to Thalia?"

"Come to the hospital! Now!"

"What? What happened!" Before she could even answer me, I gasped in shock when the car door suddenly opened.

"Get out, now." Dylan's sharp eyes stared intently at mine.

I couldn't answer, especially since Wena was still talking on the phone. I feel like I'm losing my mind because of so much worry.

Dylan took my hand and forced me out of the taxi before telling the driver to go.

"Wena, which hospital is that? What happened to my daughter!" I couldn't stop crying and worrying.

Dylan went silent. His expression showed deep concern, though he didn't speak.

"I need a ride! I need to get to my daughter!"

Dylan's grip on my hand tightened before motioning his hand to a man. A few moments later, a black car stopped next to us.

"Which hospital?" he asked while we were on the road.

I swallowed hard and tried to calm myself down. "San Sebastian Memorial Hospital."

He glanced at me for a second. "Tanya, calm down."

"No! The doctor said, if she had a heart attacked again, she might not be able to take it anymore! I can't lose my baby! She's all I have!" Tears kept flowing down my cheeks.

I saw Dylan glancing at me out of the corner of my eyes. I don't care if he sees me in this pitiful situation. Thalia is the only thing that matters to me right now!

When we got to the hospital, I saw Wena outside a public room. I immediately approached her.

"Where's my baby? What happened to her?"

"She had trouble breathing a while ago after you left. And I immediately panicked so I brought her here."

I entered the room and found a doctor talking to my daughter.

"Thalia?" She was sitting on a hospital bed smiling and talking to the doctor.

"Mommy!"

"My baby!" I felt the warmth of her body as I gave her a big and tight hug.

"Mommy, it's too tight! I can't breathe!"

"I'm sorry, baby. I was so worried." I broke away from our hug and wiped my tears. "How are you?"

"Mommy, I'm fine! Tita Wena just got worried so much."

I looked at the doctor who was right next to us. He nodded his head at me. "She was just tired, but she's okay now."

"Thank you, doc!" I hugged Thalia again. God, I was so worried! I thought my heart would jump out of my chest. I can't bear to lose her.

After a while, Thalia let out a little gasp. "Mommy, look! That's the guy from the mall!"

Stunned, I was speechless for a long moment. I remembered that Dylan was with me.

I nervously turned around and looked at Dylan. He was standing next to Wena while staring at Thalia.

"Hello! Do you remember me?"

My daughter happily waved at Dylan. He looked at me and I quickly averted my gaze. I just remembered that they have met before.

Dylan came closer to us. He was staring at my daughter's face. "Thalia."

"Yes, it's me! Wow! You still remember me! Did you come here with my mommy? Do you know each other?"

My heart almost skipped a beat when Dylan looked at me intently. I wasn't prepare for this so I don't know what to do.

Dylan pulled me to the corner. "Did you plan this?"

"Plan what? What is this now, Dylan?"

"I met her at the mall. Did you plan that?"

I shook my head in annoyance. "I can't believe this! Are you crazy? Why would I do that!"

"So, you mean, this is all just a mere coincidence? I met your daughter at the mall, and it was all fate?"

"Yes! Because you said it yourself, you've been looking for me for a long time but you didn't find me! You wanna know why? Because I don't have any plans of meeting you again! If it wasn't for my daughter, I would not be here speaking to you!"

I turned my back on him and quickly returned to my daughter. I didn't talk to him after that until he finally left.

Thalia's doctor talked to me. He told me things I already knew. My daughter's life is in danger. The longer she goes without surgery, the more her life is in danger.

I just took Thalia to the apartment and left her in Wena's care. I didn't get off the taxi. I went straight to Dylan's office.

"You're here again? Let me guess, you need money?" He smiled at me before dropping the briefcase he was carrying on his desk table.

I locked the door behind me and swallowed hard. Even though he had seen Thalia in person, he still didn't change his mind about her. I guess he didn't feel a fatherly love for Thalia.

I slowly nodded my head before approaching him. He sneered at the answer he got from me.

"I must say, your daughter and I have a lot in common. You did a good job."

"Good job?" I was going to argue with him, but I decided not to. "I'm here to do what you want."

"What I want?"

I started undressing my clothes. Now my underwear is the only remaining clothes on my body. He stopped and quickly looked down at my naked body.

He slightly bit his lower lip. "I was about to go home, but how can I say no?"
