I tried my best to keep my hands from shaking as I put the last book on the shelf. My heart was racing and having Higan's eyes on me wasn't helping.
I wondered if there was something weird with my outfit but I knew that that was an excuse to keep my mind away from Higan. The book almost slipped from my hand but I caught it on time.
"You okay?" Higan asked from behind me.
I let out a nervous laugh. "Yeah." I put the book on the shelf and turned to face him. "All done."
"Let's get going then."
"No way," I argued. "We haven't talked about what's been bothering you."
He chuckled. "You're so stubborn."
I crossed my arms over my chest. "My mom says that people who are easily swayed die early."

×Higan×I picked up the empty chip packets and bowl, that previously had a fruit salad in it, from the carpet before going into the kitchen.
